@H0wlinPelleAlmqvist Depends on the band & what message they are trying to put out. Leaving aside the abiguous nature of music, Hives songs are about society, the human condition, the inherant problems in a system that uses people as slaves/pawns/resources to be used and abused. (this is a massive generalization) Their songs are not happy ones, with an air of mourning to them - not to be confused with songs that dont have energy, because Hives songs are very energetic. cont....
@H0wlinPelleAlmqvist All their outfits are a combination of black & white, i don't dwell on this beyond its use as a visual aid to help get their message across. If i did want to find deeper meaning, im afraid much of it would be nothing more than conjecture. Take what i have said about their music, add to that much of their music is sung as a warning; i'd say they are highly intelligent group, who turn their depression of the current state of existance on this planet into creative energy.
@Tactums Interesting! I'm a huge fan and I understand symbolism through music all the time especially in pop, but never this way before. Do you see any other symbolism in their other outfits like the 2004 style?
@H0wlinPelleAlmqvist P.s. lets not spam the channel anymore, take it to PM's, i usually have a 3 post rule. Also im fed up of information brokers collecting everything that is said in comments on youtube and attaching it to their porfolio's of us all :P
Pelle Almqvist is from Fagersta in Sweden. And he is the singer in The Hives. All off The Hives is from Sweden, they are from Västmanland. In Västmanland is the cityname " fagersta" And that another guy, he whit the guitarr in the band, hes name is Mathias.
@H0wlinPelleAlmqvist cont.... Problem is its all open to interpretation, one could point out the necktie today used in buisness/school is symbolic of the cable-tow used in masonic initiation or symbolic of enslavement (noose/leash). The contrast between their uniformity (a reflection of society) vs their songs and energetic performances, seen as a sign of breaking free from uniformity. Ofcourse it could just be they are bored... but symbolism in music industry doesnt just happen for no reason.
Black & white is typically worn at funerals, joyless occasions due to the colours being symbolic of death & passing onto the heavens. When Jools Holland asked why, he already knew the answer, being a musician himself; the lyrics convey their intent, the visual stimuli is there to help to get the message across. One might say jools was baiting him into revealing why, if you noticed it was awkward, Pelle had to make something up and the conversation trails off.
He looks like Alex from a clockwork orange.
I was going to say the same thing
Alexander Delarge
Malcolm McDowell!
All the young droogs…
And Jools looks like Alex from Silence of the Lambs

For a Swedish dude, his accent (when he speaks English) comes out as almost Irish sounding.
me too!
u are not the only one!!!!!
Coolt att han pratar dalmål i engelskan ;D
@Tactums Awesome comment!
But why would be wearing black and white as you defined it, be relevant to a band in anyway?
Man bara måste älska honom!
he reminds me of the maincharacter of ' a clockwork orange ' . Am i the only one? :p
you mean alex?
I like how his first-name address is "Howlin' "
It's not, Jools got that wrong. Pelle it would be. Howlin' Pelle Almqvist.
