Exactly, he does it on purpose. I'm not sure if he knows he's torturing me or not, but if I try shooing him off the shoulder he'll fly right back and do it even LOUDER.
those are his own whistles, not imitating anything. he loves to whistle loudly when he's happy, and he particularly enjoys sticking his beak right up against my ear when he does it.
aww i think he loves you lol :P and i know how painful it for a bird to squeek right next to your ear!! my bird snowy and tootie sitting on my shoulder before and they both randomly talking to each other my ears hurted after 2minutes so i ended up putting them on the floor lol.
omg my 3 cockatiels learned this when they were younger, and then passed it on to 2 ringnecks, and it is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo annoying lol. it's their sound they like to make when they get bored... i want them to forget it :( Lol
Maybe try not to say much about him doing lots of noise, since he finds that funny and as if you're praising him. Since you give him a reaction that he wants. So you could try make him do something that both of you enjoy, and make a huge fuss about that, as these birds love drama - The more the better.
The volume these tiny little rascals can muster is genuinely amazing. They can definitely demand attention.
Birb is scremming as close as possible into that poor guy's ear. Ah, the joys and tribulations of pet ownership.

Mine does this if I’m not scratching him enough.
Well, not exactly this, but it’s similar enough
Just love in sonic form.
He said, you're gonna whistle in my face, i'm gonna whistle in your ear.
Why I see people’s birds are whistling and singing and mines just biting me

What made this funnier was the fact that he seemed to be doing it on purpose.

Aha! I bird watch and the first whistles are the exact calls from a wild bird. The second high pitch one, I dont know.
How cool.
Its funny when he screams really loud, and he looks like he is going towards your ear
Our Lovebird likes to chirp VERY LOUD in the mornings while we're still in bed. She does the same thing.

What are some quiet breeds of birds that don't really screech?
I agree, this one does sound pretty good for screeching :P
Can't really think of any that AREN'T painfully loud but I can tell you this;
If you want peace and quiet, never get a budgie.
