I love that you included history & facts. That's incredibly thoughtful, especially for our society today which doesn't *always* prioritize education. Thank you! :)
There would be slits in the dresses and petty coats like pockets, where they had access to pocket like purses held on with a ribbon around the waistline
I never comment on videos on here but this video is great! Especially the ‘rest of my purse’ idea. That’s what adds majority of the clutter to my bag - loveee the idea!!
I knew about compartmentalization, but the go-box or whatever you want to call it at the front door, that is going to be a life saver for the forgotten items when I switch purses. I sometimes leave out the cosmetic case or something. I often switch purses on Sundays (purse has to match my Sunday outfit) and something is always missing. Thank you, thank you. I think I am going to subscribe!! Can't wait to see your older videos and what's to come!
Thank you TH-cam algorithm, I love it! I compartmentalize my purse and it's SO HELPFUL. It makes finding things and switching between bags so easy. The little container for gift cards is genius! I don't have a scale on hand, but most of my purse weight comes from the fact I carry a book and two notebooks with me every day, one attached to a pen pouch too. 😅 Great video.
Whenever my friends complain about the mess in the purse I tell them about you and your method to keep everything in compartments. Warmest regards from Russia.
Your purse organizer ideas and family go to boxes have inspired me. I already know that my bag weighs a ton, but your suggestions could help me to lighten my load. Thanks for sharing!
Just found your channel today! We just redid our kitchen and put a set up upper cabinets that sit on top of our counter with small drawers. My husband and I each have one to ourselves for our own stuff. I use mine for my purse stuff too! I love it!
Ok, where do I begin? First, the room you’re in is gorgeous. Love the accessories behind you. Second, the history of the purse was very interesting. Third, your top is really cute! Fourth, I love your purse and the small orange bag. So darn cute! Thanks so much for the video!!! New subscriber!
I have been enjoying your videos😊. I enjoy organization too, if my husband would ever stop moving furniture around😄. Great ideas you have there! Especially the Red Five Bin Tower and the hinged box! Would love to have the tower for our family later($$$)we'll have to use an alternative because the idea is wonderful and a must! I did weigh my purse and it didn't show up. So I weighed myself.....we won't talk about that, the scale works!😲 I have in my purse one wallet, one cellphone wallet(used as medical wallet for meds. , medical cards, medical info.).,hair brush with two hairties around it, keys, two mini measuring tapes, key chain with lipbalm and hand sanitizer. I threw my datebook in and still nothing on the scale. 😊 A quick run to store grab wallet, keys and coat. I have a carrier for my water bottle with a pocket, unless I throw it in my purse than my purse would weigh 4.8 lbs.
I loved your take on this! I checked the comments, but wanted to tell you that the Renaissance purses were placed deep within the layers of the skirt. They then had slits in the top layers that allowed them to go after the purses. So kind of the original pockets for women in dresses/pants!
Such a useful, educational and entertaining video! I often carry a nice, leather bag like your Coach bag, but oftentimes would rather carry a small, lightweight, nylon crossbody so I can just walk in the park or go grocery shopping. I got the Tom Bihn Side Effect crossbody to put inside my leather bags as an organizer and as a walking bag. I put my absolute necessities in the Side Effect, and leave the lesser-necessities in the leather bag. I leave the leather bag at home or in the car trunk -- and then take off walking with my Side Effect.
Thank you! Yeah, my other bag is a baggalini crossbody and it gets a lot more action LOL. I can take it to the dog park and not have to worry about it getting dirty! The Tom Bihn Side Effect is cute though! I might have to do a little investigating!
I like the idea of having an extra box for the stuff I don't use. My bag is big but I carry my planner with me all the time, I'm always asked what hours I'm working next week or planning an appointment or going on vacation.
Love your videos 👍 My purse weights 11.2 😃 Going to try your purse box idea with a old dresser were not using to reduce what I carry. I thought the history of purses was awesome!
I rarely if ever use tissues when I carry them. I have a tiny nail clipper and a mirror compact in my toiletry bag. It's truly tiny as I've downsized to one lip color, a lip balm, a small hand cream and a mirror.
I really enjoyed the history lesson. My MIL still puts cash in her bra. She stopped putting her phone there after a non-cancerous breast lump. Lately, I carry a larger bag because I’m carrying a sweater in it. Nice video. Your pouches are keeping you organized.
I use my IPSY bags to compartmentalize, but I never thought of having a go zone! Love it! The only thing I would add is a pen. I use my phone for notes and reminders but sometimes you just need a pen! Lol I really enjoy your channel! I even let the commercials play through. Hahaha!
YA, awesome idea! I'd put a pen there, but my pen storage is steps away, so I just never thought of it! Maybe I'll throw one in for good measure! THANK you for letting the ad play all the way through! You are so sweet! I put all my AdSense pennies back into the channel right now, so that means a lot, especially since I do not place mid-roll ads on my channel right now. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Hi Kay....just wanted to say hello and tell you that I really enjoy your channel! I am a new subscriber, and am relatively new to YT..I have gotten more motivated by your organizing videos since I have been watching! I also lived in the Boston area for about 10 years..closer to the airport since I work for an airline! But I now live in Florida! Keep up the great work on your organizing informational videos! Thank you so much again!
Most dresses in Renaissance and Georgian times were comprised of skirts and taille (top). Skirts had drawstrings and on both sides they had slits along the seams for easy access of the pockets that you wore tied around your belly.
Loved this!! Yes-dresses with pockets!! I like your purse drawer/box idea. I'm guessing my bag weighs about 5 lbs. I will weigh it one of these days, cuz now you've got me curious ;)
Hi I really enjoy this video and love that 5 drawer that you got from the container store. That's a great idea having a purse bin for your purse. You are so well organized.👍
Thank you!!! OMG, I LOVE a good pun!!! It's totally my bag! LOL (I'll stop) Here is the link to the earbud case. I'll have to update the description too! amzn.to/2CkJyS9
My purse is huge/heavy; I use it when commuting to work and it contains A LOT. So what I get from this vlog is that I have a BUNCH of little bags already that I can use to compartmentalize (esp. those cords man!) and make life a little easier. Free DIY! TFS
Watching your videos repeatedly is very good for me. Love your bin ideas! Gonna set up such a bin for myself tomorrow! Also meant to share how I protect & carry my delicate ear buds and things: Hard-shell, clamshell style, upscale brand name, well made, hinged eyeglasses cases from Goodwill etc. Very inexpensive, convenient armor to carry fragile items in purse and grab them easily! (Just be sure not to clamp ear bud cords in the edges when you close the clamshell case. You can gently roll them up in a small piece of soft fabric first. I hate damaging my ear buds lol. Like my very smart dad says, the wires inside those cords are thinner than hairs! So easy to break as I'm dainty but intense and outdoorsy lol!)
I love your videos and think your organizational ideas are wonderful and if someone doesn't like your videos, or think they are too lengthy, etc., maybe they need to subscribe to another video. Many, many of us out here love her, clover and her videos!
Loved this video. You are soooo funny! Fabulous ideas you have that have sparked up possibly a few more or at least fine-tuned a few I already use. Once again thank you.
Well last night I went through my mom's purse and completely emptied it out and cleaned it out she had 2 inches worth of old receipts and a few things that were taken out but she didn't get to get overstuffed kiss clasp hand purse/change purse full of business cards (which is most of the purses weight)😢 She kept putting it off so I did it.
Hi Autumn, I take photos of any important receipts and categorize them in email folders. I take photos of all receipts $50.00 and over. The thought process is, if I dislike a newly purchased product under $50.00, and can’t find the receipt, that is not horrible. However, $50.00 is the threshold where I start to think the item was “expensive” and would prefer a refund. Read the store’s refund policy to see 1) if original receipts are required and 2) their refund/replace policy. If a store only allows refunds up to 3 months after purchase date, you can create your email folders with sub-folders for an “expire” date. Large ticket purchases like my dresser and desk (over $1,000.00), I will just retain those receipts for insurance purposes.
It’s from the Container Store and it’s called the Hinged Box! I think it’s all linked in the description for you but let me know if you have trouble finding them! I have SO MANY of these little boxes and I am obsessed with them!
+Amie N. 9lbs! Oh boy! I actually found a lot of my crazy weight was like cosmetics and a heavy travel mirror...the weirdest stuff!! Thanks for watching! ^_^
I just stumbled across this video and have now subscribed. My purse is so heavy, it’s literally a pain in the neck! I have tried the small bags to compartmentalizations but still carried too many of them. I think the solution is your control centre by the door so I’ll give that a try now. I was also wondering where you found the small plastic boxes for the gift cards. And how do you manage all the darn loyalty cards???
I got the little boxes from The Container Store. I haven't found them any place else and I don't know who manufactures them. go.magik.ly/ml/9m0y/ I don't manage those giftcards super well. I just periodically look through them before I intend on going shopping and take them along. It's a challenge LOL
I get picked on because I take so much stuff to work with me all the time. My purse is really heavy, I don't have to weigh it, I already know, but I live way out in the boonies and I work in the city. So if I forget something and it's important, like paperwork that has to be faxed by noon, or my meds or god forbid, my inhaler. I'm really up the creek without a paddle. Short of leaving work to go and get it I'm stuck and this is what I'm afraid of. At least until I get home from work. So that is why I try not to leave anything for the last minute. I pack everything I think I will need in my work bag the night before. Like: my laptop, chargers, power cords, all work-related folders, etc. A pad of paper, earbuds. My Kindle and my cell phone go to be with me. I read before bed and my phone is my alarm for the morning. Then there is my bag for my breakfast, lunch, snack and drinks for the day. Then there is my purse which the first thing I check is my migraine meds, headache meds, which I keep in my medicine bag along with cold medicine and cough drops in case I start coming down with a cold at work. I answer phones so a cough would make it very hard to do my job. Of course I have to have my sunglasses, wallet, blood meter (pre-diabetic) chapstick, lip liner and lipstick, flash drive's work and personal, brush, because I have long hair. I know there is more I'm forgetting that I have in there. My purse is my home away from home when I'm away from home. So everything I would possibly need is in it. Am I the only one like this or have I actually finally lost my mind? I never used to be like this, but I also lived closer to civilization. :(
It sounds like you need one of those cute, stylish backpacks with a little purse inside? That’s what I do I have to carry a lot of stuff. The weight more evenly distributed and then I can just grab my little purse too!
This makes sense to me, that you would need to carry all of your stuff with you daily due to the distance that work is from home. If you drive you can have a container in your vehicle to hold the things in it that you may not need every day. If you are not driving, you will probably find that the organization tricks that you learn will help you not to have two of one thing and knowing when you run out of something as well as helping you to find stuff quicker when needed. I am still figuring this all out, my bag is too heavy and I am trying to go lighter without compromising what I feel that I need to carry. Blessings.
Michele Leamon I think we are so alike and that’s when a roomy backpack that looks presentable for work comes in handy!! You definitely should consider getting one if you have yet to!! I am really enjoying the whole backpack thing.
@@teachingmama ........I only put the most important necessities in my purse, as she shows, but I put my other items in a pretty lightweight cloth tote bag. That way I could leave the tote bag in my office if I wanted to go to the restroom or out to lunch, without having to carry a very heavy purse.
This is exactly what I do!! I learned this after reading "The life changing magic of tidying up". I have a bin in the closet by our front door. I keep purse items in there that I might need and then fill my purse each morning depending on where I'm going and how long I will be gone. I also have a "wallet" that has a strap that I use as a small purse when I just have an errand to run. I love this system...much more functional then trying to carry everything you "might" need everywhere all the time. Great video!
I have alot of things in my bag mostly because of my health issues and a chemical disorder. So i carry emergency meds., deodorant, perfume, powder, and the papers and ID's for my service dog, along with all the other normal purse stuff and emergency medical information on me. The stuff i carry is a must and it makes my purse heavy but how can i help that when i have to carry everything i do.
I know but it is hard to figure out and the pharmacy give me a hard time giving me a small bottle for all my emergency meds. And how would i get all my emergency medical info and Sandy's info in a small version.
I went through my purses today and I organized everything according to your tips. I still need to find some sort of bag or container for my electronics, but the purse I'm currently using already looks a million times better. Thank you!!!!!
Wow! Definitely the most interesting and useful purse organization I've seen. Why am I carrying things around that I only need sometimes? Thanks for this.
new sub here 👋 I have the same jack black lip balm. also...love what's in my purse videos! anyone can do one and I'm glad you did:) I use lots of pouches in my bags as well as the built in pockets!
there was often an invisible accessable slit in skirts and and often they were concealed under outer garments so they were much easier to access. If a woman had a pocket on her outfit it was often sewn on the bottom of her outer petticoat so all she had to do was slightly lift her over skirt and still maintain her modesty.
SKIP AHEAD to 3:40 if you don't care about the history of purses or how heavy your purse should be.
The Organized Soprano where did you get your cosmetic bag I love it!
The Organized Soprano there is this channel called priorattire. Historical garments etc. You might find answers to your pocket question there. ;-)
@@kkova8590 lol I came to give this same piece of info 🤓
Love nerdy-Kay who teaches us the history of things.
Me too!

I know you said you're not a beauty guru but would love to see an updated "what's in my purse" or "how to organize my purse" video. :)
Exactly what I was looking for. Minimalistic yet comprehensive list of essentials. Loved it !

I’d love to know where you find those small plastic snap boxes/containers you utilize for gift cards, thanks in advance!

Does anyone know what that sephora Bag is called? In love and need it added to my collection :)
It's discontinued now, unfortunately! I got it from a Las Vegas sephora a couple of years ago.
Enjoyed watching this!
I have the same purse in black!
YAS!!!! Thanks for watching!
The intro made me laugh. Great tips as usual!
What’s the name of your Coach bag and is it still available?
You so crack me up! My bag is....OMG!!!...one at a time!.. Keep going.
Keep on going! LOL
Binge watching your videos!! Got some great ideas for repurposing items
Love the pocket talk lol!!! So funny, loved it. And thanks for the great info! So helpful ❤️
You have some very good ideas. This is the first time I've come upon your chapel😀💕
Thank you so much!
I also love using small bags to organise my purse.
6.3lbs and that's after trying to carry less. I like to bring a book or reader, sometimes my erin condren planner, meds....
Thank you so much!
You need minis? :) No seriously, you gotta do what you gotta do girl!
I know but it is hard to figure out and the pharmacy give me a hard time giving me a small bottle for all my emergency meds. And how would i get all my emergency medical info and Sandy's info in a small version.
Thank you for the tips!! It certainly helped me!!
Yay!
Excellent ideas!!!! Will implement asap. Thank you!
I went through my purses today and I organized everything according to your tips. I still need to find some sort of bag or container for my electronics, but the purse I'm currently using already looks a million times better.
Thank you!!!!!

Thank you! And thank you for subscribing!
there was often an invisible accessable slit in skirts and and often they were concealed under outer garments so they were much easier to access. If a woman had a pocket on her outfit it was often sewn on the bottom of her outer petticoat so all she had to do was slightly lift her over skirt and still maintain her modesty.
Great tips. I always struggle with purse organization. I'll have to get a small 'go zone' bin 💜
Let me know how it works out! Thanks for watching ^_^
Great, helpful ideas!🙂
