Great tips! I go to Aldi and Walmart as well. I have go to meals that I know my family likes so I always get those ingredients but if I find a great deal on a certain meat that maybe I usually don't get I may make a different meal to use it. I also don't cook every night. My family is grown ( my youngest is 17). They can all find for themselves when they need to. I cook about 5 times a week. Alot of times there are leftovers. If the leftovers aren't eaten right away I freeze them.

Great tips! I’m trying to get better about freezing leftovers if we just aren’t getting through them quickly. We also repeat a lot of the same meals, but this winter I’ve added quiches to my rotation bc it’s one of the few meatless meals my family will eat without complaining “where’s the meat” haha!

I love that you are giving more thinking out of the box saving ideas. A lot tips I hear are repeats of the same old thing, so I found your video really helpful. Thank you! I also need to see about how to make the grilled cheese using bacon grease. Sounds delicious! Thanks for the ideas!

Thank you! Finding tips on this stuff is almost a hobby for me so I know what you mean that a lot of the content out there is just repeats and I’m glad this video had some new, helpful ideas! To make the grilled cheese (or any hot sandwich) I just take a small dollop of the bacon fat and put it in the skillet and proceed like normal. So instead of buttering your bread you just grease the pan and it’s SOOO GOOD! You can also just make bacon in the morning and leave the extra fat in the skillet and use the same one for making sandwiches at lunch!

@@househackingmom1098 thank you so much for the how-to on the grilled cheese! I'm going to have to try that soon! I enjoy finding great saving tips as well. The only one of your tips I didn't fully agree with is the shopping at only one store, but that could be different for everyone. I coupon a lot, and have a several stores in walking distance. So it's easier for me to cherry pick the deals. But even with couponing I believe it's important to learn good saving habits. Here's one of my saving ideas. We pay attention to what's going to waste and thrown out. And try to save what we can. For instance, there's maybe 1/2 cup or whatever of cooked taco meat. If it doesn't get eaten soon as leftovers, I'll just put it in a small ziploc and freeze it. We can have a small amount for a quick single serve (depending on how much was leftover), or combine more bags for a quick meal. It makes for an easy meal, and not wasting meat as it's so expensive.

Yes I did that today with extra pie dough scrapes. Normally I would just throw them away but I decided to save them in the freezer thinking if I do that a few times I’ll have enough for a pie 🤷‍♀️ so long as I don’t forget it’s in there haha!
