the lore behind the writing of this album is awesome. she was in her late teens living in nyc by herself, just experiencing life, and burning through her savings from her previous album
Incredible album, heard it by accident and didn't skip a single song, something about it just kept it glued to my ears and I just kept coming back to it. The production is so awesome and different, especially for 2017.
every lorde album feels like a soundtrack to a specific period of someone’s life, and it’s probably the reason why her discography is so known and loved despite being not that big. pure heroine is the definitive teenage album, and melodrama is the late teen-young adult breakup record, and solar power is the matured, wise and content one. also, i do think that melodrama is the outcast of all the jack antonoff-produced pop albums of the last 6-8 years. every record he did for other artists do have that signature sound from him, but with melodrama it felt like he took a risky and experimental approach with the sound.
To me being biased, this is her best work. I was not a big fan until I heard this album. Melodrama covered experiences in my life. This therefore dived me more into Lorde and that’s when I highly praised her as an artist The production is just pure fire too! 🔥🔥
probably impossible, but try not to hold solar power to the same standard as melodrama, it's not covering heartbreak and isn't meant to be as vivid and detailed as melo. It's a different vibe, best to listen to in the sun. her next album is probably going to come out this year and will probably see her return to synth pop... and she is apparently going through another breakup.
idk baby boy, you definitely did a lot of research into this album if you haven't listened to it because damn you knew a lot about it! love that you loved it though, one of my all time fave albums and a cutie!
I know when Billie became famous Lorde reached out to her to offer any help she might need as a new artist, but as far as inspiration goes I don’t think Billie ever mentioned Lorde. She got inspired by Lana, Marina, Aurora, Tyler the creator…. I don’t recall Lorde being mentioned. I might be wrong. But also this album was released around the same time that Billie’s debut album was released so…
Actually, Melodrama was released 2 years prior to the debut from Billie, was the EP from Billie that was released months after Melodrama was released in 2017
Its both Lorde and Jack Antonoff who produced it, not just Jack
Thanks for your comment, it saved me time from watching the reaction

one of the best pop records ever made, she’s insane
This was the album of my teenage years, totally one of the best pop albums eveeerrr
She was around 16 when her first album was released and only 19 when she wrote Melodrama!
Perfect Places is one of my favorite pop tracks of all time. That chorus is euphoric in ways that are hard to describe.

HELL YEAH ONE OF MY FAVORITE ALBUMS OF ALL TIME
I'm so happy you finally checked it out!! One of my absolutely favorite albums. Lorde is sooo special ❤ hard feelings supremacy!
Love this album! Supercut is such an underrated song. I need to listen to her most recent album again. It didn’t hit me like the first two albums did.
I really liked your reaction! In my opinion this is the greatest album ever

Ribs on pure heroine gives me a sense of longing and feeling nostalgia for my adolescence 🥺❤️
I feel like jacks most similar albums to melodrama are definitely reputation and some of midnights.

I highly recommend reacting to hayley williams’ solo albums!!! They are beautiful and emotional, she barely promoted them lol
