I buy frozen biscuits in the bag so that I can cook as many or as few that i need...2, 4,6...I do believe that there are 12 biscuits in a bag. It is funny that I try to find as many short cuts as possible the older I get. I love that Jessica is so eager to learn anything new even if it is scary at first.
Your sausage biscuit sandwich for breakfast looked delicious! Nice job, Jessica! Sometimes I just crack the can of biscuits on the seam against the clean countertop!
I love this video format where you’re giving more depth into how Jess’s brain works and how to be successful with assisting her while she works on her DLS. Truly, well done!
This is probably the best comment I've read on their videos in a long time! You wrote out exactly what I was feeling. For those that don't understand how Jess' brain works, this video (and the typed explanations) are great! I know Jess is proud of herself for making those biscuits and that her family and friends are equally, if not even more so.
It is about wonderful about her touching things that she wouldn't have even recently. I have noticed that often Jess will be asked if she does or does not want to do something. Val you are an sm Mom, caregiver & teacher and you treat like an adult because she is. But sometimes as adults ve do what we have to do because things must be done. I noticed when you had here watering the plants out she said she was finished & you told her they needed a bit more & she did it. I've noticed a wonderful positive progress in Jess of course because of you all. I've heard how she will ask a question that she will know the answer to and sometimes you will make her think about and answer and she will. You all so thoughtful by giving her positive affirmations after doing that. I think Jess would benefit from more of that. Jess is bright and has been using vocabulary that you didn't know she knew. Thank you for showing us how just because someone has disabilities they still are capable of doing things. Jess is living proof. THANK YOU !!!
I'm so very proud of Jessica and how far she has come... And mom , you have done an excellent job with her... You should be proud of yourself as well. God bless you and your family....
Good job on the cooking, Jessica. I still don't like opening the biscuits. I remember at one time, to open the can, you were to rap the seam sharply against the edge of a table or countertop. That wasn't as scary to me, but I don't know if that would work with the current ones. Guess it could be tried.
After you peal the paper off, hit the roll on the edge of the counter. Jess may even like to do that. 😊. I’m sure you are aware, but they have frozen biscuits. In southern Alabama we have Mary B’s brand or store brand and both are good. She could take 2 biscuits out or how many she would want and bake right away.
Hey, Jess! I still jump when I open the can of the biscuits! Miss. Val I noticed Jess so easily took the biscuits out of the can. I said wow!! She has grown so much just in the few years that I have been watching! Beautiful to watch.
after learning what ADLs and IADLs are, it makes so much to me now. i dont really struggle with ADLs but i do struggle a lot with IADLs (doing laundry, paying bills, money management, grocery shopping, etc). i love seeing you help jess
So proud of you Jess opening the biscuits and putting them on the pan yourself! Your sausage biscuit sandwich sure looked delicious!! Keep up the good work!
My hearts jumps when i see you two work together. How good it works with the gloves, putting in and out the oven etc. The sound of plopping is great. You go girl! You just did it and with joy! Thank you Valerie for the comments in and after the video. Kind regards, Angela
Loved this video!!! I started watching you guys in 2019. Jess has made remarkable progress with cooking since then. It is amazing! I love seeing her enjoy the process like this one. Being so involved and eager to learn and actually having some fun with it. My mother could never open the canned biscuits because of the pop. She just hated it! LOL Keep going guys. You are all doing a fantastic job! Lots of love sent to each of you.
Watching Jess take such big steps towards her independence is amazing. When I first started watching she would have asked you to help her open the biscuits but today she breezed right through getting the dough out. I can see such a difference in her especially when she’s “making the video for us”!! Val I truly enjoy your family and I love learning things about and with Jess!! Ty for sharing your lovely family with us and for bringing such insight into the world through Jess’s eyes❤️
This is fantastic Jess. You can buy biscuits , same brand, in the freezer section. Take out as many you want and bake off. Much easier than those archaic cans.
I hit the seam on the edge of countertop. Just an idea. Although, the hitting might be scary for Jess too. Great job, Jess. I am impressed with your independent living skills.
Great job Jess! I think almost all of us jump when we open canned biscuits! They sure looked like yummy delicious biscuits when you took them out of the oven. 😋
What a sweet video today! (I just press my thumb in the seam but it may be too tough a seal for J to do that). Gave me a giggle when the can popped Jess!😂
They also sell biscuits in the frozen section in a bag like her nuggets and she can just pull out how many she needs etc. Just like her hash rounds and nuggets :)
hi, just found your videos! my mom taught me how to cook but it can be hard to reach or handle everything with my disability. so I got a HotLogic which is basically a mini hotplate inside an insulated bag (similiar to pizza delivery bags). my sister pre-cooks a meal and I use the HotLogic to reheat it independently instead of using a microwave. there's no buttons, only a plug, so heating times vary sometimes 20mins, sometimes 2hrs because it's a low wattage. it says you can cook from scratch but it takes like 10hrs lol. but it works very well for independence! I've haf the best try with noodles, burger, nuggets, veggies. I just suggest leaving the lid on tupperware because condensation will leak everywhere, but it's a great tool for something adaptive :)
I think I commented already on Facebook maybe, but if you peel off the paper just what the tube up against the counter edge. It's fun and pops open immediately. It's less startling this way.
I have seen these knives that are used by kids or persons like Jessica where they could start cutting things for themselves without cutting or hurting themselves. Maybe if introduced as a new invention for her independence she could use them to cut open her biscuits or cut them up for gravy. She could learn to cut vegetables eventually. I think they could help her independence and calm some fears for sharp utensils
I find the spoon hard to use so I don't. I just put my thumbs under that seam and squeeze the can. Works every time. Very good job on the teaching, Val, and learning/doing Jess! Maybe instead of the face patting, when you're not interested or doing videos, suggest high fives or something? That could be more universal and practical for her that could extend to people outside your fold, too! Keep up the good work!!
Hi OMG im so impressed on how she did it with little help from you. Im so proud of her. You guys are teaching her being intepentant. 👏 Jess that pop always scare me too, i guess is the sound. Great job mama on teaching her. 😊👏 I hope you all had a beautiful weekend. 🦋🌻🌞
What a great job, Jess, opening that biscuit can and even touching the biscuit dough like a champ! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I’m so happy and proud of you! You are amazing…and you too, Val! 💕 P.S. I hate popping the can too 😂 I usually pop mine over the edge of the counter and I still jump!!
I haven't ever bought them to know if the quality is decent or not, but I have seen that my grocery store carries frozen biscuits which might be easier for Jess to prepare independently as it would be pretty similar to preparing frozen nuggets.
Ok I’m understanding more,is her concern with spilling while cooking because she doesn’t like to spill or is it the liquid getting on her!She loves water and teases about spilling water but is really worried it seems to make a mess by spilling in the kitchen?
Hi Kim. That's a good question. Jess likes to tease about spilling water which she does outside but knows not to inside the house or in a car. I think she is aware that spilling an ingredient in the kitchen is not a good thing, as it makes a real mess and might ruin the meal or use up all of a necessary ingredient.
Pillsbury does make a biscuit that's frozen in a bag and the frozen food section at least I have it in our area maybe you can find that and it would be easier for her to open a bag and bake a biscuit
Jess I am so proud of you in your progress over the years ❤️ Val your an amazing Mother ❤️ Can biscuits scare me to no end even after many years 😵💫😵💫 great overall 👍 👌 👏
Did you have any trouble with Jess learning the oven? I ask because it's been a challenge for me. I'm a little intimidated by appliances that put out so much heat, and I have major spatial skill issues which doesn't help. I've had better luck so far with an air fryer since it's smaller and can be loaded with food to be cooked while the basket's not hot. My mom wants me to start using the little toaster oven, and I get scared of getting burned. I think we're both scared of me using the bigger oven or stove.
Yes, we did have trouble with her learning the oven. She was very afraid of getting burned. We tried elbow-length grilling gloves, so that her arms would be protected if she accidentally bumped into something. That helped build her confidence, and she used them like that for years. Now, we have shorter grilling gloves that are very heat resistant that she uses. Another thing that helps is pulling the rack of the oven/toaster oven out some before she puts a pan in. That way, she's less likely to bump into something. I hope this helps! Best wishes and thank you for sharing ❤️
The spoon 🥄 is hard for me and I’m sighted. I usually try to hit the peeled biscuit tin against the edge of the counter. I’m more in control of the actual pop then as well. I make it happen instead of waiting for it to pop using the spoon. Give it a try! 😊
I’m thinking that teaching Jess to hit the can on the edge of the island, to open it, will give her a little more control and make it more “fun”……I have issues with dexterity from neuropathy & trying to hold the spoon and the can and press it makes it almost impossible for me….a quick whack on the edge of the counter solves my problem and Jess may even enjoy being “naughty” by whacking something on the counter❤
Hitting the can on the counter works great . That’s the only way I’ve ever opened them :)
Jess your Being so Independant!! Great Job!!!😊😊😊😊😊 ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I buy frozen biscuits in the bag so that I can cook as many or as few that i need...2, 4,6...I do believe that there are 12 biscuits in a bag. Great job cooking those biscuits Jess

Thank you.
Thank you!!
❤❤❤❤good video. Continue on your road on getting the silver play button
Hi ladies! Great to see you!
Hi!
I love this video format where you’re giving more depth into how Jess’s brain works and how to be successful with assisting her while she works on her DLS. Truly, well done!
Thank you so much!! ❤️
I immediately noticed how "easily " she touched the Biscuits...years ...maybe decades in the making. Congratulations Jess...great work!!!🎉
@@Amy3130 I noticed that too.
Great Work Jess!!!😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤

Jess has made so much progress, just in the couple of years I’ve been watching. She’s doing great!
Yes! Thank you
Jess those look delish
I always jump when they pop! I hit them on the corner of the counter.
Wow amazing well done Jess … the pop made me jump to
I'm so very proud of Jessica and how far she has come... And mom , you have done an excellent job with her... You should be proud of yourself as well. God bless you and your family....
Thank you!

That biscuit can popping always scares me too even though I know it’s going to happen. 😂
I just bang the can on the edge of counter or table, might help with the pop shock with Jess “banging” the can.

Yes she has!! Thank you
What I do to open can biscuits is find the seam and hit it over the counter, and I don't think it pop's as loud...Try it and see what you think....
She might have a hard time aiming the seam, but maybe it will work like that anyway.
I bet she will have fun hitting it on the counter...can't wait to see...
The pop had me laughing….love seeing her smile.
Jess i have been opening those crazy biscuit cans for a long time and i still jump when it pops!😄
😄
Just a thought, maybe try some welding gloves for Jess. they are very similar to what you have, but have a much higher heat rating.
Thanks for sharing ladies. ❤
Pop! Like this!😂❤🎉
Val, I love seeing how you light up talking about much Jess has grown/progressed over the years and months! Talk about a proud mama!!❤
Thank you!
Jess, I’m 61 and have been opening cans of biscuits for years and I still jump when they pop open. You did fabulous making breakfast…
Great job Jess , heck I can’t even get the paper off the can half the time.
after learning what ADLs and IADLs are, it makes so much to me now. i dont really struggle with ADLs but i do struggle a lot with IADLs (doing laundry, paying bills, money management, grocery shopping, etc). i love seeing you help jess
Thank you & thanks for sharing! ❤️
Like others have said, I too find that giving the can a whack on the edge of the counter, pops the can open pretty simply.
So proud of you Jess opening the biscuits and putting them on the pan yourself! Your sausage biscuit sandwich sure looked delicious!! Keep up the good work!

I just hit it on side of counter now. I hate the pop too. It’s like Jack in the box for adults 🤣
❤❤❤ Awesome job, Jess so proud of you ❤.

What an incredible accomplishment, Ms. Jess! You’re becoming so independent.❤️🙏🏻☺️

❤️
This is fantastic Jess. You can buy biscuits , same brand, in the freezer section. Take out as many you want and bake off. Much easier than those archaic cans.
Such a great video, Val! I winder if a larger plastic spoon would be easier to grasp. Those require a lot of wrist strength to open.
I am so proud of her for touching the biscuits! I cannot believe how independent you have become, sweet J
The loud "pop" of the biscuits always scares me too Jess! 😄
All my life we took the paper off and banged the can on the edge of the counter and it pops right open! AKA WHOP BISCUITS!
I hit the seam on the edge of countertop. Just an idea. Although, the hitting might be scary for Jess too. Great job, Jess. I am impressed with your independent living skills.
Way to go! I am still suprised sometimes when I get a tough can. Much of the time I do buy them in a bag, quicker and taste good too.🎉
Great job Jess!

You did a good job Jess
That pop always has scared me!! I f do not know why but it's like you don't know when to expect it!!!
She can help Nathan open the cans the next time he makes Orange biscuits.😊
Jess I’m with you I hate popping those bisquits cans too…lol I just whack the can against the counter. Good job Jess!!👍🏻👍🏻
Biscuits make me Jump still too i am age 65...

Such great information! Thank you so much!
You go Jess. I’m proud of you. God bless.. watch it watch it
We’ve all gotten that surprised when opening canned biscuits! Jess you handle that like a champ! ❤️
have jess tap the can on the side of the counter after the wrapper is off that seems to be easier
Great job Jess! It always surprises me when the can pops open. I know it is coming but it always surprises me.
I think I commented already on Facebook maybe, but if you peel off the paper just what the tube up against the counter edge. It's fun and pops open immediately. It's less startling this way.
Correction: Whack the tube against the counter*. I think auto-correct has betrayed me once again. 😆
I have seen these knives that are used by kids or persons like Jessica where they could start cutting things for themselves without cutting or hurting themselves. Don't worry Jess opening a can of biscuits gets me too 😅
Great video ladies!!! 💙
Thanks, Stef!
That was a great job Jess, those can pops always scare me😳 They have biscuits in a bag in the freezer section 😊
They used to make frozen biscuits I don’t know if they are baked or you need to bake them.
I find the spoon hard to use so I don't. I just put my thumbs under that seam and squeeze the can. Works every time. Very good job on the teaching, Val, and learning/doing Jess! I screamed when she screamed with opening the can lol…I do that every time I open one of those cans lol!
Awesome work Jess and Val! I never tried it but maybe she could press the seam on the edge of the counter? That might be more leverage.

P.S. I hate popping the can too 😂 I usually pop mine over the edge of the counter and I still jump!!
I’m scared of the pop and I just drop it really hard on the floor and it pops that way .
Hahaha that's me every time.🤣
You're doing great, Jess! Canned biscuits/cinnamon rolls/anything like that scare me to death. My 11 year old has to open them for me.
I haven't ever bought them to know if the quality is decent or not, but I have seen that my grocery store carries frozen biscuits which might be easier for Jess to prepare independently as it would be pretty similar to preparing frozen nuggets.
Good on the processing and good on her independence and will you do a Morning routine after the live chat ❤
Great job Jess.

I really was surprised when she touched the biscuits. That was a giant step for her In itself.
Good job Jess🎉
Do you by any chance teach Jess about creating boundaries and respecting another person's personal space?
Yes, we do and have for a long time.
I love this video - feels like the old ones when you and Jess just started this journey, I've missed this vibe. ❤
Dip them babies in some syrup girl 😋
I'm so proud of you Jessica❤
Great job, Jess!
🩷
Jess I am so proud of you in your progress over the years ❤️ Val your an amazing Mother ❤️
Can biscuits scare me to no end even after many years 😵💫😵💫 great overall 👍 👌 👏
How do I get one of them shirts that val has on
Amazing job! Being visually impaired myself, it is hard to cook different things as well. Very proud of you!
Thanks!
So amazing she is ❤

So proud of you Jess! It scared me too! You have a wonderful teacher.
I would love to see a Day in the Life (Jessica’s Edition) hey hey hey
The spoon 🥄 is hard for me and I’m sighted. I usually try to hit the peeled biscuit tin against the edge of the counter. I’m more in control of the actual pop then as well. I make it happen instead of waiting for it to pop using the spoon.
Give it a try! 😊
Thanks for the suggestion! I think Jess could get a big kick out of ‘bam bamming’ The can on the counter. 😄
@@Shaping_Serenity I can’t wait to see that in an upcoming video!!!
It is wonderful watching Jessica's progress! Your video was really informative. ❤😊
Also she can use both hands to hold the can and whack it, making it easier for her to control.
Val I know you are so proud of Jess accomplishments ! Jess self confidence is shining 🥰🥰🥰🥰
When getting the mail she needs to stop and wait. I love y'all
I Am autistic and can't help but be scared of the pop. So i drop it on the counter if it doesn't pop, I hit it quickly with my fist.
I’ll try hitting it with a fist. I don’t think I’ve ever tried that.
