Absolute brilliance. I have always been interested in how people come up with ideas with introductions for shows and for football and at the time this blew me away. It is still incredible even in 2017.
I remember there was a competition on cbbc to be able to included in the video, if you look at 0:51 bottom left corner there’s a little kid who won heading the ball
Such an underrated World Cup. South Korea beating Italy and getting to the semis along with Turkey, USA getting to the quarters, the English press losing their shit over England getting eliminated (again), Keane telling McCarthy to basically go f*** himself, Ireland vs Spain going to penalties, and Oliver Kahn getting ze Germans to the final then blowing it in the final. Honestly this was a great tournament.
Pity this theme was never extended a little and made available commercially. It's a brilliant piece, epic, sweeping, memorable and a pleasure to listen to.
Yeah it is and there are some other parts from the same tournament in this video. I think they used them after the group stages finished so that is most probably why they are used.
In 2018 I watched a J League Game at the Nissan Stadium, the stadium that hosted the 2002 final, I had this theme in my head during the pre game training, wonderful titles. Going to school to watch the England Brazil game. Bad result but great memories. Would love to see a World Cup in South Korea, or Japan again in the near future.
I agree. I loved the 2002 world cup though, it was bright and controversial to a degree. 2006 was controversial but I didn't enjoy it. I think the comp went dud when the ref Collina retired. Reffing eversince has been bleh.
@anil2 SERIOUSLY! You must be very young, if you never saw the Dutch genius of 74, the Brazilians of 82, Danes French and Maradona in 86. Even 98 was better with Bergkamp and Ronaldo. 2002 was awful! Good tune though.
@anil2 Holland were cheated out of the 78 World Cup by the Argentine junta, and in 98, Junior Baiano's foul on van Hooijdonk in the semi was a stonewall penalty. And Holland would've won this one too if Portugal hadnt got a dodgy pen in the qualifiers. FIFA don't want Holland to win :-(
Excellent. I was doing my final High school exams during this WC. I was 16. Good times.
My favourite World Cup I was 14yo. They gave us a late start to school When England played Brazil
Same lol.
I was devastated that morning though after the defeat. 😥
@@Scallion_D I remember the school writing letters out to parents that it will be a late start. Yeah it broke our England hearts
@@LS-bw7jt Yeah we had letters sent out too lol.
Funny times.
Absolute brilliance. I have always been interested in how people come up with ideas with introductions for shows and for football and at the time this blew me away. It is still incredible even in 2017.
Great theme tune would buy it has a 12-inch record Clive st Albans
This was brilliant. Amazing music & intro and got me so hyped, especially for early morning games.
The part with the bullet train & Michael Owen's goal against Argentina 🇦🇷 from 1998 is so epic 👀😎
I remember there was a competition on cbbc to be able to included in the video, if you look at 0:51 bottom left corner there’s a little kid who won heading the ball
Man I remember being in year 8 when this was on. One the best intros
I was in Year 8 too!
I remember they'd just show some games at school lol.
Amazing intro indeed.
I wasn't in this life lol
This is my favourite world cup titles
All games were in the morning. U woke up and footy was immediately on the telly... Ace
Awesome. BBC World Cup intro's are always top class. I remember this tune at 7am in my local pub waiting for the match to start :)
Even though I was only 6 I actually remember this I’m so old

Originally, the two countries were rivals in the bidding process. Politics got in the way and the two agreed to co-host.
jeez this intro is dud, and I liked this world cup, the intro for australian tv was good.
world cup in that part of the world means early mornings in England
For fans

@anil2 Yeah, that's probably right as well - the decisions in that semi v Barcelona were a joke and im no Chelsea fan

Seventies Mania you see For me not all but most matches are fixed
I could be a devil to you. I could bite like a tarantula, right through the skin, and leave my poison in.

These were good titles, Euro 2008 was rubbish for the BBC!
