I love how Shabani stomps through the rain. He has so much fun with the water. Then a bit of hunting with Ai and his day seems ok. Ai with her fighting squad, she has the whole troupe behind her. His face expression when everyone is after him, just wonderful! 😂

Daniela T. In the wild the females are free to leave a male and follow another male. Males need to be protectors, entertainers, care takes if a mom is killed they even take care of young less then a year old. It’s not always the strongest male. They are very interesting
In the human primate species too; females are free to leave the male (and they most certainly do) and solicit other males.

Zola from Dallas Zoo loves water. They give him a kiddy pool and he dances. Graceful with good rhythm. Also when Zola was a child at Calgary zoo they have footage of him breakdancing in the water. Sweet
Ai certainly has a bad temper. Shabani doesn't care as long as he gets a chase. This is how he keeps his family fit and strong, he only has to give Ai or Nene a touch and take off running. There is a definite smile on his face when he is running and even the children join in the fun. I don't think he needs to do this so much now they are in their new enclosure.

Yes. There is actually a video on this page where a keeper has stated that he stays more and more inside lately as to not liking the constant observation. Incredibly beautiful creatures, especially the magnificent silverback, but I hear you; it's strangely sad to see them here, but in reality, they're probably safer in a zoo these days.

Dariusz B. It’s just Shabani wanting everyone to chase him, this is his favourite thing. It certainly gets the females all riled up and the children just join in the chase cause it’s fun.
I can’t help thinking how reasonable our life is even in a pandemic while ancestors relied on random rain drops to bring us up to where we are now. Let’s celebrate them 👏
What is the story behind this Gorilla? He is the most active of any I have seen in captivity. I am in Louisville KY. Our zoo here has gorillas. One likes to see pics on peoples phones. But really just sit around. They just seem so sad to me. I hate to see any animal in captivity. But at least he seems to make the most of it. And his mates have to put up with him.lol

they need to make an escape box for nene that shabani can't fit into so she can get away and be safe when he picks on her, she is to old to be chased or her to chase him when this happens, maybe if they were fed more this wouldn't happen, and maybe an enclosure with a tree for payment of being viewed all day long they are the ones that bring in the money the least you can do is make there life better for them.
I heard that gorillas have a strong smell so i think he enjoys the rain probing that sometimes needs a shower
