That's the best part of you tube. You can find videos for you and that you like. Thousands of content creators out there for you to find the perfect match /matches. I will definitely take this feedback into consideration and try and have a little less content focused on what I'm doing on a channel based around what I'm doing... Appreciate support. Wish you the best
Oh boy. Another comedy 1/2 hour with the Captain showing us another not a DIY video. Always entertaining. I'm retired and love watching other people work. Keep it up Mike.
I love the Captain's "Can do" attitude! I bet that you'd even rock being a male dancer! lol Here's a good comparison video of cut and paste: Rusty Seams on Colin Furze BMW E30
Captain you always say you’re not a mechanic and a welder, you sure prove yourself wrong every time with the finished job! Keep up the great work! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Compliment to you wearing the face shield, and again keeping things real ,you are giving it a good go ,wishing you well and may some sponsorship come your way .
Mike, I wouldn't let what anybody says about your skills. You do a great job with what you got. I'm amazed at the things you do. Keep the good work coming.
Seam sealer on top, rubberized rocker panel coating or undercoat on bottom. Alternatively, spray bed liner on entire cab floor. I have used all these methods with good longevity.
Mike, thanks so much for the update. I can’t wait to see your new “headquarters”. The truck projects sounds good to me and any other projects you think of along the way. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Capt''n, I do like the variety of stuff you get yourself into. It seems I never know what you will be up to next. I like that. I admire your attitude of figuring stuff out as you need to. One of these days, you need to invite Aaron up for some welding lessons. That would make for a fun video. It would also make repairing the dump box a bit easier. Keep having fun learning as you go.
Cap, I don't care what the perfectionist says. I would say you're doing a fantastic job. It holds it works. It's also filling in the rust holes. I have a Chevy S-10 I have to do floor repairs on, you are an inspiration
I don't understand why others doubt you,ive seen you complete a lot of projects it all works out and at least you're inventive and I don't know anyone who started out a master anything.Hold your head up and keep on welding using the imagination God gave you. Those of us who are not professional, hold you in high regards.❤
Wow.. Truck is looking fantastic, don't worry about what it looks like as long as it's solid.. There will be many on here that don't understand that not everyone can afford to go out and spend several hundred dollars on new panels, you have done a great job of using the reclaimed panels.. I look forward to the next part...
Back in my younger days......when I had no tools, knowledge, money or patience......we used "acquired" one way and stop 🛑 signs, self taping screws and Bondo on the seams..... Then covered everything in the old rug you found in Grandma's basement.....😂😂😂
After doing bodywork for nearly 50 years it's nice to see someone start out trying rust repairs Mike, thanks for the content, if you still have some oxy/acetylene pick up some tobin bronze fluxed brazing rods and do the smaller hole repairs with that rather than mig, put the patch under the floor then a self tapper to hold and plug braze through the rust holes, hammer up from the underside then some seam sealer on the patch edges. Mig is great but the temperature of the welds makes the edges of the metal brittle. Can't wait for the world headquarters and shed mods.👍
I'm definitely glad I ended up buying a welder and trying it out. I've had a lot of fun doing it. Definitely some frustration in the beginning and still some learning pains, but overall it's been pretty handy to have
You are my #1 content creator! The only one in my notifications. The only one i stop what I am doing to watch. You never explode in a tirade when things don't go as you hoped. I rewatch your videos with my grandson, so he can see an example of a person who just regroups and carries on. I deeply respect that you reuse and spend the minimum to create the maximum you can. Its what this country was built on, yet the art has been nearly lost. That may be my favorite part of this channel. I go about my projects much the same. One step at a time, figure it out as I go. So i love watching someone else do it. Bonus that you often explain that thought process! Thank you for sharing your projects with us. I know we add so much time to your work, getting all the rights angles for us to be a part of the process. You get us right in the action! And another bonus is when we get slapped to the ground for being too close. You have brought so much joy to this old woman. I hope you are making a vulgar amount of money from the tubes! So intrigued by this world headquarters thing!
Captain (Mike), your optimism is only outdone by your satirical sense of humor. It’s the main reason that I subscribe and watch all of your video. You just continually crack me up.
The Kleeman Truck Weight Reduction Shop is open for business! 😅 I enjoy your thought process and how you've planned everything way in advance and execute said plan point by point! 🤣🤣Actually its refreshing to see how creative minds like yours work and how the enthusiasm flows throughout the video. Honest content with some humor and entertainment thrown in. Great channel here.
That Floor Replacement went Spectacularly Mike & I ain’t Kiddin’ ! You know the Story I would Tell involving old Aluminum Road Construction Signs, a Two Pound Hammer & 24 Adult Beverages from My Younger Days Replacing Floor Pans in My ‘78 FireChicken. I’ll catch you on the next one, regardless of what it’s Topic May be. Keep It Safe Out There Sir
3:05 thats cool, nice tool mod 13:59 love that look Gotta say your metal quilting is impressive to me. Welding sheet metal is not easy. Thank you for sharing.
Well done, sir. You are a great model. Too many people hold themselves back because they think that they don't have the knowledge or skills. Funny thing, the more you do the more you learn and the more skills you develop. Go for it! Also, great practice for the eventual 555 cab rebuild.
Thank you Mike I love not knowing what you are doing next, makes for a far more interesting channel and video, the home made chisel job, proves that old saying, necessity is the mother of invention, and you sir are a master of it, common sense is a joy to see on someone so young, like Mike from DP with his tile plow, cant wait for the next installments of what the hell is that and how the heck did he manage that. 🤣😂😂😅🤔🤔
I tried stuff like this, with much more expensive tools, and a lot less rusty materials, AND came out ALOT worse that you just did here. I'm so impressed with what you get out of basically nothing !
Nobody said sheet metal is easy to work with my friend, but you’re doing a pretty good job! Your corner piece looks good Mike, it’s all about the effort you put into it!👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I usually tack weld it and take two hammers, one on top and one on the bottom and work the metal flat! Little by little Mike!
That truck is going to have one heck of a solid floor. My first attempt at rust repair involved an icy-acetylene torch and brazing rods. Definitely was a 50’ job with surfable waves. 🌊
Hey Mike. I have to say, given what you had to work with, that floor came out very acceptable! No more Fred Flintstone action and it looks really solid. I think the patchwork gives the truck a nice lived-in look too!
Mike, you continue to amaze me. You have no fear of taking virtually anything on and do exceptionally well in figuring it out. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.
I cut up a hood from the junk yard to patch the floors in my 75 Toyota Truck. I overlapped my patches, used a flux core, my first time too. Good job man. I wish I would have started as young as you are.
No need for a time machine. You had the perfect hammer right there. It's satin chrome and (i think) 3/8 drive! Every tool's a hammer! At least until it breaks.
Awesome video Captain! It's your channel do as you please. I like you and enjoy watching the things your not afraid to jump into. You shouldn't have to feel the need to explain to some people not not sure if your doing it right. Keep up the good work!
“ start here, and continue to beat into shape” I love it, suggestion, if it doesn’t beat into place, get yourself a bigger hammer, just a thought. I am really enjoying this series youngster, I think you’re doing great on the body work. Stay the course, have fun, thanks for the update.
Yet again brilliant film on what you can achieve on a shoe string, as I've said before love your enthusiasm and your outlook, even when things are going wrong you always turn them into a positive. What some people don't understand is, is that your taking us along with your 'journey of discovery'. Something I for one am great full for. 👍
Good Morning Captain!! The weight reduction spots sure look better with some metal on them. A little rust converter paint and a floor mat and nobody will ever suspect that it was repaired by a fellow who couldn’t afford a body shop. Have a Very Merry Christmas, Stay Safe and God Bless. Tim
As another viewer commented, seam sealer will protect all the joints and seams. I would personally coat the entire interior with Lizard Skin or a similar protective material after rust proofing. Then use a durable rust proofing coating underneath. That will help to prevent and prolong the development of any metal cancer. I know a lot of metal working experts are scratching their heads. It's not like you have a sheet metal shop with all the equipment to do professional perfectionist sheet metal work! But for a person diving headfirst into sheet metal repairs, you are doing what you can do with what you have. 👍👍💪💪
Hey Mike. We've been pretty lucky here in Michigan with the warm weather this year. Glad you will have a warm shop to keep projects going this winter. Thanks for posting.
Nice video, some advice and probably I will get some comments on it... If you are not a professional welder, use 309 welding material. It makes welding a lot easier. You can use it for jobs like this on carbon steel and Stainless Steel. It also has cleaning properties, so less pinholes and a better weld result . When steel has been calvinised also use 309 welding materials, at least to butter it up on the Sn side. This only counts for private or hobby projects of course like shown in this video . PS you're welds will never rust again.
Looks great Mike, Kirk from Louisiana sending prayers and positive energy to you and your family! Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻🙋🏼
Great job for a guy who claims he doesn't know what he's doing. Reminds me of the Mustie1 video when he was rustoring a VW and had it looking like Frankenstein with all the little patches. If I may suggest the following: When you are finished treat the area with tannic acid (it's what was used to stabilize the CS Hunley by the museum curators). Also spray the are with oil. Mustie1 likes Bar & Chain oil but, I've found Wool Wax to be superior and not messy. I sprayed my truck 2 years ago and it's still holding up. The oil gets into the tightest areas and stops rust entirely.
This project kinda reminds me of the old Ateam show, where they always built some sort of functional vehicle..... can i call you Howlin Mad Kleeman?? 😂
Captain, I looked up a whole 1 piece floorpan for your truck, then I said duh! Where's the fun in that! Guess that's why you're the Captain, and we're just loyal swabbies!
Mike, your someone who as an engineer welder machine operator etc. I admire as your want to learn improve or just create your own skill and ideas are wonderful to watch we could all say I don’t like you doing this or I would do it like this but this is what’s life is about everyone doing things there way and learning ! Great channel and really enjoyed the last two podcasts with DP too :) keep up the great work ! 😊
I use poster board to trace the rusty metal onto. Cut it out and trace that onto good flat metal. It’ll look weird flat, but it will be the shape you need when you warp it into place. But as long as you get it welded up, a can of undercoating hides a bunch of errors lol.
Fantastic video! I can't wait to see the World Headquarters and the new renovations to your current shop/garage. You are so fun to watch and listen to. Thank you and keep sharing, please!
Wow Mike, that is some cleanup. Well done. Once again you persevere. You are so cool at all this stuff. The base looks so much better already. I know you will get this sorted. I can’t wait to see your final “reveal” ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A perfect situation for “beat to fit, paint to match”. Love it!
Thanks!
Indiana winters take their toll on vehicles. For a guy, a welder, and a hammer, this looks pretty good!
Thanks 👍

Lol thank you!
Your patchwork is working great. You have your own Kleemenstine. Looking forward to the day you are able to say "It's alive"
Merry Christmas
For a guy that doesn’t know very much, you sure do a hell of a job on all of your projects !
Never quit doing what you enjoy doing !!
Thank you sir!
Might be a Frankenstein dump truck. But you won't have a drafty cab . I enjoy everything that you are doing.
Thank you
It's a work truck not a show truck if you're ok with it should be fine, looks good Mike.
Thank you!

Looking good. I just love the way you will try anything and make it look like a pro job.
I try! Lol
Put seam sealer over your welded floor joints, takes care of any pinholes and stops moisture rusting the joints. Great work and progress.
I was just about to say that. 😎
Yeah, make it look pretty.
Seam sealer on top, rubberized rocker panel coating or undercoat on bottom. Alternatively, spray bed liner on entire cab floor. I have used all these methods with good longevity.
Like he said

Appreciate ya watching!
Look at all the practice for reworking the cab floor on the 555!
Exactly!
Good job so far. An old mechanic once told me "Practice Makes Perfect", but if it's not perfect then it's just practice and we all need more practice.
Love it

Mike, I love your plan, work it out as you go along. When you are finished with the interior floor, maybe coat it with truck bed liner.
That's the plan!
This is how C&C Equipment does it when they restore those OBS Fords. This is exactly the content I subscribed for.
Lol thank you sir!
Hi Captain ,the Romans made their mosaic floors with stone ,you've gone one better and done it in metal. Great job👍

Looks good, definitely better then license plates and self tappers.
Admittedly, not as much character though.
That Cordless SDS is like a Swiss Army Knife in your tool arsenal.

Shady tree autos is going major league.

Captain, you are giving me confidence to want to try my hand at welding.

Find someone and get a few pointers from them have them teach you some.
World headquarters! Love it. The gym is the perfect spot to "workout" these fab problems. Congrats!!!
Hi Mike. The "perfectionist" you referred to never had sight of what this project was intended for. I like it! Have good days!
Nice work Mike. I have never had good luck welding sheet metal, You seem to have the figured out.
Definitely tricky!

When working overlapping sheet metal you can use self tapping screws to hold it in place. Remove them later and weld the hole if you choose to.

Old maintenance motto: Beat to fit; paint to match.
💪
The truck floor is coming along nicely Mike, I know it’s gonna be nice when you’re done.👍👍😎😎🍮🍮
“Beat to match”. So many technical terms! Love it 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love your innovation! That wood chisel chipper is awesome, I’m definitely going to copy that! Thanks.
Be careful! Lol
I tried stuff like this, with much more expensive tools, and a lot less rusty materials, AND came out ALOT worse that you just did here.
I'm so impressed with what you get out of basically nothing !
Lol. I love this comment. Thanks for watching!

That truck is going to have one heck of a solid floor.
My first attempt at rust repair involved an icy-acetylene torch and brazing rods.
Definitely was a 50’ job with surfable waves. 🌊
🤣 I have not been brave enough to try brazing yet.
You’re just like the finish carpenter. Beat it to go, caulk caulk it to fit and paint it to match
Hey Mike. I have to say, given what you had to work with, that floor came out very acceptable! No more Fred Flintstone action and it looks really solid. I think the patchwork gives the truck a nice lived-in look too!

That's awesome.
the two trucks will make the dump truck a star for working. Great patch work and this winter you will love the heat
No need for a time machine. You had the perfect hammer right there.
It's satin chrome and (i think) 3/8 drive!
Every tool's a hammer! At least until it breaks.
Exactly!
Awesome video Captain! It's your channel do as you please. I like you and enjoy watching the things your not afraid to jump into. You shouldn't have to feel the need to explain to some people not not sure if your doing it right. Keep up the good work!

Bigger hammer is a good solution
Mike, when the truck is all set and done I think you should name it 😂 FRANKENDUMP 🤘🏼‼️
If Kleeman has taught me anything, it's that I don't use my SDS enough.
No one ever does. 🤣
Go for it captain❤😂😊
Can't wait for the new addition to the shop, Mike! Your hard work has paid off and you deserve it. I hope you document it all for us 😊

Captain, I looked up a whole 1 piece floorpan for your truck, then I said duh! Where's the fun in that! Guess that's why you're the Captain, and we're just loyal swabbies!

Wow Mike, that is some cleanup. Well done. Once again you persevere. You are so cool at all this stuff. The base looks so much better already. I know you will get this sorted. I can’t wait to see your final “reveal” ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Gotta pull those grommets and check those cab mounts
Replacing the floor here should be good practice for when you do the 555. Looks like things are coming along nicely
Any person that works there ass off should appreciate that Mr cleaman puts into anthing he does
💪
Merry Christmas. Enjoying the floor redo!
Same to you!
