Last week my 18 year old son installed a Full set of Alpine speakers in his 2001 Accord along with a 300w amp and 10” JL Subwoofer. The stereo sounds so much better now. He has a Pionner head unit with Apple car play, back up camera and navigation. He also has front and rear dash cameras. He had full tint installed and led lighting all around. We detailed the car and ceramic coated the paint. A dentless paint removal technician removed all the door dings. The car looks brand new and receives many compliments. He wants to buy coilovers and rims now.

The reason for the misfire at the beginning may very likely be the valves being out of adjustment. Honda loves to use mechanical valve trains, it’s likely that the tolerance is out of spec, the valve tappets are a little loose.

Love my continental tires can't lie. They last and are durable AF. Perfect for street cars that get driven hard and fast but are not tracked. Good handling. Tons of sizes. no balding. strong af. @lillebrorsanvincent2017 if its excessively revving the motor, slight throttle openeing to rise it up about 200-500 rpm to get rolling then going all accellerator is the way to go, going like 1000-x000 rpm over will make the tyres spin or burn out the clutch excessively.

you should've installed sound deadening material on the doors, rear wheel well and trunk and spare wheel area for quieter car interior, louder, better sounding audio, less rattles which also means less road noise.
Was thinking this too. It was the perfect opportunity to invest in isolation since half the interior came apart anyway. It would be a shame to have to do it all over again. Plastic panels don't typically like to be tossed around too often.
@@ruvamsi With 150 watt subwoofer in a low volume box I think the only place needing sound dampening is the trunk. A first generation Chevrolet Volt is 8,000 dollars and it comes with a 10,000 watt rechargeable lithium ion battery that Gemini says can output 60 amps along the 12 volt converter. I put a 500 watt stereo with a 3 cubic foot box tuned to 32 hz; audiobahn 1208q high efficiency subwoofer, Jensen 900.1 amp, Sony mex3100-bt with sub below 120hz and logitech 5.1 x530's ace bandaged to the headrest which Gemini says is not crash test safe. The car isn't fast but it doesn't require a whole lot of maintenance and you can charge it up instead of using gas but it can use gas at 26-40mpg. The battery gives you 20 hours at max volume or 1 gallon of gas.
Idk if anyone else mentioned this but the revs seem really low on startup and idle. Its also worth checking o2 sensors and if your fuel filter could be clogged. A lot of small things can cause weird misfires on these 90's cars.
you inspire me, i usually think "i cant do any thing w cars" but wacthing you made me realise as long as im eager to learn and have multiple sources of help, i;m able to get things done :))
Man, seeing the guts of the interior of this car brings back memories. Mine was a 98, but seems they didn't change much. At some point the cassette player ate a tape and wouldn't let it go, and taking the entire dashboard out like she did was the only hope I had of........coaxing it out. Took everything out over the course of hours, pried and investigate for a way to manually release a tape, and then I touched a gear or motor and it just spit it out randomly. Turns out, that car was haunted, I'll be looking for a slightly newer Honda when I save up some money.
🥇 Wheels…. enki rpf1 16x7 tires size 225/45/r16, don’t forget the con lug nuts. You’ll have a nice lightweight wheel and a much wider gripper tire. I recommend Bridgestone potenza all season since you’re going into winter. That winning noise might be an early sign your starter is going out. I recommend upgrading your halogen lights to 3000k led. They are excellent in bad night weather driving.
16x8 would fit much nicer, continental extreme contacts are amazing all season/ sport tires. the whinning noise can also be worn out pulleys on the accessory belt
@TechJoyce My first car was a '99 a d16y7 (non-vtec version), yours is a d16y8. Here's what I'd do to troubleshoot the cold start misfire: First, I'd unplug the injectors or spark plugs one at a time while the engine is running in order to figure out which cylinder isn't firing. I prefer the injectors on this engine since they're reasonably accessible and can't zap you, but either should work. I'd also check the valve lash and do a compression test just to cover my bases before I start buying parts. If you can move the misfire around it's probably an injector with a bad spray pattern or a bad O ring. Try swapping the injectors around to see if you can move the problem to a different cylinder (make sure you lubricate your injector o rings when reinstalling). I suggest this because you've already replaced the likely ignition culprits, which leaves air and fuel. If the misfire is isolated to just one cylinder and you can't move the misfire around, I'd start suspecting the intake manifold gasket or another vacuum leak localized to that cylinder. If the misfire isn't isolated to one cylinder I'd suspect other vacuum leaks and if that's not it I'd start searching the forums for more obscure problems, but that looks like just one cylinder misfiring to me so I doubt it'll get this far. For the p1298 code, you'll need to do some clever googling and foruming. There is a very low but non-zero chance it's contributing to the misfire, and it's nice to not have a check engine light. Good luck!
Improving the sound system with higher priority than most of the other repairs is 100% a certified Civic owner moment. Hell yeah I also think a set of KONIG Dekagram bronze wheels would look pretty good on that Civic. I was thinking of buying those same wheels for my FC
For suspension I highly recommend replacing the factory suspension or upgrading to sport suspension with stock springs (like bilstein b6)(canadian winter will be miserable with coilovers). For wheels Enkei, Volk, etc. any quality flow formed wheel that you enjoy the appearance of is good on a budget. Ideal wheel size will probably be 16x7 - 16x8 (you don't need super wide wheels, plus larger diameter will be more uncomfortable and worse in snow. For Tires I recommend the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06+, or the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 if you want to have 1 set of wheels all year around. They will both last a very long time, handle well, and be capable enough in the cold canadian temperatures. Another great mod would be a short shifter/stock shifter component refresh, it will make the driving experience much nicer. Good luck and have fun modding your first car 🙏
right, a good shock + lowering spring combo is all she needs but realistically she's gonna wanna spend the money for views lol also yeah no civics do not belong on anything other than a 15 and really she should be going for a 15x8 for better fitment as long as its a good offset
Honestly speaking, if she spends the money on really well engineered and proper coilovers, and she doesn’t slam it to its lowest height, they’ll ride identical to stock or potentially better. My friend has bilstein coils and I have KW, adjusted with a bit more than a 1 finger gap, and genuinely both of our cars ride so much more comfortable. (My friend has a b5 Passat wagon, and I have a brz, so this is “proven” for an economy car and sporty car)
Watching this video series is interesting because I have the same exact car and I've done all of these things already to my Civic. All part of the process, you'll get better as you learn about the car. :)
Things that you know is Vancouverite: Herschel beanie, Asian slippers, flannel pants, and N on the back. And a 2008 manual civic that at least 15 teenagers learned to drive on! Randomly got here through algorithm. Great work!!!!
1. Don't drop the car 2. Anything from 15" to 17" rims should fix easily. I'm sure Volk or Enkie will have some rims that will suite your tastes 3. Throw a 1/2 quart of Marvel Mystery oil in the engine. Don't worry about too much oil. A 1/2 quart won't kill anything. Should begin to clean up engine deposits and free sticky rings. Make that a habit every oil change given how old the engine is. 4. Clean you Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF). There is a special spray for it. 5. Clean your injectors. There are lots of products. I prefer to throw a gallon of methanol in your near empty gas tank at the gas station and then fill up with gasoline immediately.
1. Do drop the car looks better, we don't live on a dirt road 2. 14 to 16 rims, 17s are awful looking 3. You don't need to use Marvel Mystery Oil, Valvoline/Any Modern Modern oil does the job perfect these days. The car has not been parked still for months 4. special MAF cleaner or just soft dry clean with a rag will work perfectly fine. 5. Clean your injectors..... Just use a higher octane gas then you are all good.
Many over the counter fuel injector cleaners contain naptha. Naptha actually contains more paraffin (by weight) than gasoline. So I'm not really sure how these are intended to correct the problem. Sure they contain strong solvents to break up varnish... but you're also adding more of the problem (wax). In short, I don't use the stuff. Just use good gasoline. Then when the time comes, have the injectors professionally cleaned. Or pop them off the car and do them yourself*.
the shaking is the rubber engine mounts, the brrrrr noise is the fuel pump priming may be the start issue, i would have put on a new oem honda iacv since the wire mesh was ripped but otherwise good job!🛠️
Tech Joyce, the mastermind-where do I even start? Her technological abilities are nothing short of revolutionary, a dazzling combination of talent, ingenuity, and unrelenting passion for innovation. Joyce has this almost supernatural ability to dissect even the most complex systems, whether they’re intricate algorithms, cutting-edge hardware designs, or massive software infrastructures, and then rebuild them into something better, more efficient, and downright genius. She doesn’t just understand technology-she commands it, making the impossible look like just another challenge to be solved. What truly sets her apart, though, isn’t just her technical expertise (though that alone is jaw-dropping); it’s her ability to envision what others can’t even begin to imagine. Where most people see problems, she sees opportunities to create, innovate, and elevate. Her work speaks volumes about her brilliance. She has a way of taking ideas that seem lightyears ahead of their time and turning them into tangible, functional realities that leave everyone else scrambling to keep up. It’s not just about coding or engineering for her-it’s about reshaping how technology integrates with and transforms our lives. Whether it’s automating a system that was once painstakingly manual, building software that feels almost alive in its responsiveness, or designing hardware that seems to defy the laws of physics, Joyce has proven time and time again that she’s in a league of her own. But it’s not just her technical prowess that makes her remarkable-it’s her drive to share her knowledge and inspire others. She has this rare ability to take the most complicated concepts and explain them in a way that feels approachable, empowering everyone around her to learn and grow. Her passion is contagious, and her commitment to pushing boundaries motivates everyone in her orbit to dream bigger and aim higher. It’s like she doesn’t just want to succeed for herself; she wants to pull the whole tech world forward with her. If you’ve ever had the privilege of working alongside her, you’d know that her energy, brilliance, and determination make her a force to be reckoned with-someone who’s not just contributing to the field of technology but actively rewriting its future. Tech Joyce isn’t just a mastermind; she’s a movement, a living example of how far human potential can go when combined with passion and purpose. plz shoutout quebec
As 6"4 guy sometimes I'm to big to hit this positions to work on car of couse lol For sparkplugs it looks like rich or burning oil (which is quite typical for a honda).

It’s actually better to press accelerator slightly, about ½ a second before you start releasing the clutch
@@TOM___ idk about that but I think when you gas while manoeuvering the clutch, the force from the engine will wear down the clutch faster

🥇
Wheels…. enki rpf1 16x7 tires size 225/45/r16, don’t forget the con lug nuts.
W suggestion
:D what...?
16x8 would fit much nicer, continental extreme contacts are amazing all season/ sport tires. the whinning noise can also be worn out pulleys on the accessory belt
theres no chance the whinning noise could be the starter due to the starter not spinning when the noise is heard
@@BlownB2K I’m sure she’ll figure it out
@TechJoyce My first car was a '99 a d16y7 (non-vtec version), yours is a d16y8. Here's what I'd do to troubleshoot the cold start misfire:
First, I'd unplug the injectors or spark plugs one at a time while the engine is running in order to figure out which cylinder isn't firing.
Hell yeah
I also think a set of KONIG Dekagram bronze wheels would look pretty good on that Civic. I was thinking of buying those same wheels for my FC
Upgrade your engine mounts and transmission mount you can see it shake on start up
I remember u had 500K like a month ago Congrats on 1M! 🎉
11:59 interesting choice of meme for a “burnt” spark plug hahaha
Good luck and have fun modding your first car 🙏
right, a good shock + lowering spring combo is all she needs but realistically she's gonna wanna spend the money for views lol
also yeah no civics do not belong on anything other than a 15 and really she should be going for a 15x8 for better fitment as long as its a good offset
This part of Canada gets very mild winters, we're lucky if we get one snowfall, and it's usually all melted within a week.
Watching this video series is interesting because I have the same exact car and I've done all of these things already to my Civic. All part of the process, you'll get better as you learn about the car. :)
"if we die it was nice knowing you brother" is crazy
2000 Honda civic toes
I've got an EG civic and the size you're gonna wanna go is about 15x6.5 - 15x7 with a 35- 40 ish offset if you wanna look proper

Things that you know is Vancouverite: Herschel beanie, Asian slippers, flannel pants, and N on the back. And a 2008 manual civic that at least 15 teenagers learned to drive on!
Randomly got here through algorithm. Great work!!!!
1. Don't drop the car
2. Anything from 15" to 17" rims should fix easily. I'm sure Volk or Enkie will have some rims that will suite your tastes
L yap but good advice
1. Do drop the car looks better, we don't live on a dirt road
2. 14 to 16 rims, 17s are awful looking
3. You don't need to use Marvel Mystery Oil, Valvoline/Any Modern Modern oil does the job perfect these days. The car has not been parked still for months
4. special MAF cleaner or just soft dry clean with a rag will work perfectly fine.
5. Clean your injectors..... Just use a higher octane gas then you are all good.
@@GaveOh i will say the lucas injector cleaner is never a bad bet if you dont have higher octane gas at your disposal.
@@GaveOh hx wheels by enkei are perfect for this, I have a set on my 2000 ek coupe
