I'm in the UK (born and bred) and many parents here, including my own, always insisted we speak the mother tongue at home. In fact they still get quite cross if we speak English in their presence even now I'm an adult. I find it very interesting that many children in Pakistan speak English at home and it's almost taking precedence over Urdu/Punjabi. Not a criticism at all, just an interesting observation. Lovely family by the way, and a huge FQ fan!
