Ian Porter- the thing I like about the choice of 125s at decent prices, is that they are getting people on to 2wheels, and in effect, sticking two fingers up at govt, which with the complicated test procedures etc, are trying to put folks off two wheels (personal view there). On a 125, you tend to select the back roads, and thus see more , smell more of the country, and if you do hit traffic, 125, are a doddle to filter on.
Agreed Jacques. It's just about screwing money out of people .whether on 2 wheels or four. The government just want you're money.

The very fact that you're picky about trivia like the square rear light just shows what fantastic 125s these are. Tip: fit bar risers so the mirror height clears your elbows. Fitting mirrors with longer stems just makes them more vibe-prone.

Love the roadster, I have to disagree with you regarding the rear light, I go with safety rather than looks, the light is big and bright and can be seen by following vehicles avoiding someone running up your backside.
Bought the tempest scrambler excellent on the road the tyres are fantastic for off-roading on byways

Hi, lad's. Just got my Tempest today. Your right the off road springs give a comfortable ride. The mirrors are excellent. It is quite a tall bike. Couldn't hear the engine hardly because of the gale that was blowing today. So the most important thing everyone wants to know what did you think of the exhaust note like will have to wait.😂😂😂 Looks really nice in blue. Can't fault it. Looking forward to seeing you're scrambler finished. 👍👍

AJS Cadwell 125 version still is best for me but its heads or tails for these two- cheers
AJS, ORCAL, MASH, HERALD..They are all the same, same chassis, engine, tank, pegs, etc..only minor differences. My big question is, are they reliable? I mean a real-world test after let says 15000km or something like it. I heard from a mash 125 owner that in 20000km a lot of problems occurred. lambda sensor, electrical problems, and many more. They are very Beautiful bikes, no one can deny that if only honda or Yamaha made something simply like these and similar instead of their ugly CB125F and YBR125 respectively.

Yes the scrambler has it. I think the dealers will have a lot of the roadsters left over. So might be able to get one of them cheaper in a few months?

In Wesrern Europe, these two models are known as the Orcal Astor and Orcal Sirio (Scrambler).
I love my Orcal Astor (Roadster).
I wish you had disclosed the engine displacement and the engine/transmission manufacturer . It would also be nice if they were sold in Canada .

Like the tempest more. Would have to fit bar end mirrors on it to get around the problem of seeing behind you.

I got a bit confused by the end on what comments are for each bikes, but maybe that is just because English is not my born language, but some info on the screen with the bikes names would help a lot;) just a tip for you guys.
The large rear light on the Roadster was probably fitted to appear retro/old school to suit the rest of the bike. The large number plate bracket is however, naff.
China got it going on. Respect. Scrambler looks fab.
Love the look of the bikes and the price is about right based on the competition. I was just concerned about the warranty. Only one year and you can only take it back to the dealer you bought it from rather than any in the network. Based on that I wouldn’t buy one which is a shame.
The roadster is just better whats the point of the scrambler if its not mainly made for off road u might as well have the better looking and nicer and most likely faster roadster and that is why i am buying the roadster.

The scrambler looks great.. a few home tweaks and a coat of anti rust all over... it could be perfect. Shame they dont do it in a 250cc

Great video spoilt by horrendous music. Ditch it! And your mics need to be louder. Lovely bikes. the scrambler wins hands down. The street bike just looks like the Cadwell to me, though that is no insult. I asked AJS why they don't just reissue the Stormer. I'd buy that immediately!

They don’t seem to think about where to put an L plate on any of the vintage style 125cc bikes.you would think they would take this into consideration considering they are aimed at new riders.I had to put my rear L plate on the reflector and it’s not very secure.
Indeed you are very right. Sadly Euro market is bigger than UK, so they go with that.
Thanks for the reviews on these and the Caldwell. Could you tell me how you found the riding position (handlebar etc) between the Tempest roadster and the Caldwell you also took out. Does the roadster have an easier riding style in your opinion. I have only sat on a Caldwell not had a chance to see the Tempest yet. Thanks for your input and detailed reviews by the way.
Hi...and thank you. The riding position of the Tempest is very comfortable and upright compared to the Cadwell's leaning forward position. The Cadwell is lower and feels more like a Cafe racer than the Tempest which feels like a roadster/cruiser with the 'old style' feel. These bikes cater for similar people as people who have come to look at the Cadwell have ended up buying a tempest and vice versa. I highly recommend sitting on the Tempest before you decide.

What's the service interval mileage. I've heard the some Chinese models can be very short.

I’m now torn between the roadster and the Cadwell! Did you find much height difference between those two bikes Mark? Seen as they’re on the same frame but different seats, tanks and tyres!
The cadwell did feel a little smaller but both ride equally as well.
What’s the speed like on the Scrambler? I have a regal raptor 125 and they are very slow!

Hi, great vid, I’ve been researching the Market for 125 classic looking bike, the AJS roadster is getting my attention.
However I’m 6ft tall, would these bikes be tool small for me, ideally I like to visit a showroom and look at the bikes.
I think they would be fine. What about the Bullit Hero?

The high pipe looks good but gets in the way of your right leg when your up on the footpegs.
Maybe I missed it but, did you do a top speed run on these? Will they get to 65mph?

In UK we use Miles Per Gallon. If my calculations are correct, it seems to be 42 km per litre

A nicely finished bike. But the engine is far too small for a roadster. Can only hope they think a larger donk would be great in the future. Small engines are just so Asian style and l mean India to. Where are these made and is it just an assembly from China manufacturer type situation/arrangement?

I hear what you are saying. They do seem low on the BHP, but then again they are retro style everyday bikes and are probably not the type of bike to be ridden hard and fast

I live in California and a slow bike can get you killed just as fast a bike that can go over 120mh.
Fair enough. A 400 you would expect would go past 100mph especially in 2018; and these don't. My 1978 Honda 400 four has a top speed of 104 mph

It's just a name. AJS was British, now Chinese. They are buying old companies and reviving traditional names. FB Mondial, 40's Italian racers, now owned by China. Same can be said for cars. Quality built Swedish, American, British cars now owned by China and so on. Yes, they have some shocking things but they are also now producing quality machines and in time will only improve.

These bikes are to under powered to be much fun ,850cc about right
Where I yearn for power also with most of my bikes being 1000cc and above, I do disagree. Light, nimble 125's can be great fun on back roads and dirt tracks.

A 125? Why bother producing such a small motor?! My very first bike was a 350, and that could hardly get me up long hills without working my gear box up and down every half minute. A 125 should not be called a roadster, it should be called a city commuter or something that reflects its capacity with honesty. And what kind of tempest would one expect to produce with such pissy motor l wonder?
I'm guessing for people who are either too young to ride over a 125 or people who only want to do or can only afford to do a CBT.
