Yes but how does the life support guy know what Sophia was up to in life? Love the movie but it's plot hole. Still beautiful and heartbreaking when you see her show up for David's memorial.
Not enough ppl talk about this film! One of TC’s actual impressive dramatic performances. He can do it if he wants to. Penelope Cruz knocked it out the park in her English film debut. And even Cameron Diaz plays her role perfectly. This and the Sigur Ros track are perfect at the end. Truly one of the best soundtracks ever put together and rarely anyone talks about it. The lyrics "all I want in life's a little bit of love to take the pain away" are hands down my favorite lyrics of any song I've ever heard. This song feels like a hug from a loved one after a good, long cry. It fills me with so much joy :) peace to all of you ❤
Bless the man who found this song to put in Vanilla Sky (2001), just at the right moment. As soon as Sophia enters David’s funeral, this song, combined with her crying, and the narrator “You were missed David”.... is enough to make anyone cry.
"Only philosophers embark on this perilous expedition to the outermost reaches of language and existence. Some of them fall off, but others cling on desperately and yell at the people nestling deep in the snug softness, stuffing themselves with delicious food and drink. 'Ladies and Gentlemen,' they yell, 'we are floating in space!' But none of the people down there care."

“You were missed David” “It was Sophia who never truly recovered, some how she knew you best and like you she never forgot that night when true love seemed possible”
It’s painful reading all the “Vanilla Sky” comments. “Vanilla Sky” and “The Crow” are the only movies that gave me a sense of existential questioning and a realisation that once the moment is gone it is gone... once people are gone they are gone.
You were missed, David. It was Sofia who never fully recovered. It was she who some how knew you best… and like you, she never forgot that one night where true love seemed possible 💔

All I want in life's a little bit of love to take the pain away Such a simple lyric but I really haven't heard anything that beautiful in a long time. This song is pure brilliance
I spent 22 years with a lovely girl. I loved her but now I know I didn't love her in the way that I needed. When we broke up she told me that I didn't have any good memories of our time together. I do but I just don't express them well when face to face with tears. I still remember those early days in London. I still remember the look on your face when I smuggled those pills into your first rave. I still remember the way you used to kiss me amidst the lazers while high on E and I certainly remember the night that I played this song to you. Over and over again while you sat on my bed smoking joint after joint with me and laughing at how I sung this song to you, on loop, for what I remember to be an entire night of happiness that I still remember vividly to this day. I will love you till I die and I will.. but I am sorry it didn't take the pain away. At that moment I was confident it would. My heart was in the right place. I know for that night your heart was there too. Please don't think I don't have any happy memories of you.
Andrew Adams 22 years is nearly a life time for me, I certainly cannot imagine how much pain you must endure to get over such a long relationship. You are a warrior, my friend.
Brett, I do think Andrew has a lot of wounds. And I don't agree with the drug use. However, I doubt we can make judgements about a whole person citing a single paragraph they have written. You are right. He does seem self-absorbed. You may possibly be filtering his comments through the co-dependent relationship you were trapped in. And I'm sorry. No-one should ever go through what you had to go through. But just because people foster co-dependency doesn't make them monsters. It makes them hurt, wounded. And we are all hurting. And here we have a choice. We can either react by hurting others, or we can rebel against the cycle and empathize with their pain, and then maybe try to stress (gently) ways of improvement. But you haven't done that. If you continue treating people this way, you are just as bad as those you are criticizing.
Even if you are right, you are still missing the point. People get hurt and will hurt as a result. Have some empathy, stop the cycle. I've said everything I needed to say. au revoir!
I prefer this version to the apparently 'original' version that Elvis' estate wouldn't allow to be released so to the lyrics (but Jason always performed live). The new 'original' version is now on the reissue albums and Spotify, this version has been removed.
Told this girl that I love her, and she said she had the same feelings towards me. We held each other and kissed, life has never been so perfect. A few days later she said that we shouldn't date. This song is every emotion ever felt in that time-fram;, both pure ecstasy and pure heartbreak.
It's the first time I comment something on you tube, and it's not a coincidence if I comment this song. It's absolutely my favorite song, I don't know why. Maybe for the mood it give me, maybe for the beauty, I don't know. Surely, it is one of that thing that you save from all the shit humanity has done. It's art, maybe.
I’m here because of Vanilla Sky 💛 I felt truly sorry for David and Sofia after this song started playing at his memorial. She was thinking about that one night when true love seemed possible. She never got over it That movie will remain etched in my heart. Tragic.
Just hearing this again since the last time I've seen Vanilla Sky which was in 2002, and I am shocked because of the nostalgia. My brother put this song on my MP3 player and I would always skip it because the introduction kind of gave me a weird feeling and the song made me sad. The times since. Excellent song now that I realize.
When I was in Senior/High School, we did this song in a choir performance, and I've been looking for the damn thing since Vanilla Sky came out. Thank you very much, still has so much emotion in that song.
The intro with Nancy and Luke Sykwalker coming in on electric guitar will forever will be one of the greatest hooks in rock history. It never gets old.
After much spam of this song, I can say this. You can wish for taking the pain away, and it will come. That does come with a cost though, it requires you to get up and fight. To get through so many terrible days at the start, then to have them once in a while. Then you have the flag in your hands and you are running with victory. The ending of the song with all of the sounds going on, makes your heart explode almost. It's a sign that there is a heartbeat in you even though you feel your heart in your stomach. Never give up, because not trying is not the same as don't try. I love you all, and I love Me. Take Care.
Today I listen to this song in the memory of one of my best friends. You have exposed me to great knowledge about life and great music to help me feel the flow of life. May you rest in peace.
the first time I heard this song was16 years ago. I had seperated from my wife and was driving to work. I was listening to the college radio station and was instantly drawn into the music. I pulled over and cried. years later, I laughed how such a simple song with a simple message could affec me so. Now, older and wiser, I see maybe if I listened to my heart I might have saved a beautiful thing. don't be me.
I think that there will always be love for the one we married. But truthfully, I wouldn't want to be married to him again. It's one thing to date and have your own space but living with someone can sometimes ruin things. What was once cute is now annoying! ppl take each other for granted (men moreso..sorry!) and we think we give more than the other...why can't we just see the good in each other and stay in love? ppl suck..
@@kitschmygrits4836 I think part of the problem is giving up our individuality. But then again, this is just one of many things that go wrong. One that goes right only to go wrong, i think, is sharing a space. Having the person close, being free to explore another mind, is magical. Yet, in this space. We don't leave room to be ourselves. The mystery of them, when we first saw them, motivated us to seek them, it was a powerful feeling. Is this where we go wrong? The problem with removing the mystery. Is that we slowly fade what brought ua close together. Its only naturally then, to think of the other as part of us. Isn't that what made us seek someone? Only having ourselves to explore this world pushed us to find someone beyond us. That understood this, whatever this is, a little different from us. I miss the first dozen moments, i had with my love, because everything was new then. And i hadn't broken down all the mystery between us.
This song transports me someplace eerie. Like I’m in a university lab but it’s 7pm on a weeknight and everyone’s gone except for maybe one or two people that are very special to you.
Years ago, about a week before I had to put my very beloved cat to sleep I fell asleep with her on my chest. I had a very powerful dream that we were floating in space and there was nothing but love everywhere. Two weeks after she passed, I was getting a tattoo of her and this song came on in the tattoo parlor. While I was getting the tattoo of her. I vaguely knew it but didn't know the lyrics, all I could hear was "I will love you til I die and I will love you all the time". I searched for the song but couldn't find it. I found it about 3 years later late at night randomly watching Vanilla Sky, just flipping through the channels. Looked up the song and lyrics, and realized its about floating in space.
For 6 years I loved someone, we had all the elaborate plans about the future, including playing this song at our wedding. Then something out of our control happened and we had to break up. It broke my heart and a year later I’m still not feeling better. I didn’t move on and the truth is I didn’t want to. I’ll see you in next life, my dearest love.
the funny thing is this is the version with most of it removed, the newer version currently on streaming has the full 1st verse of Can't Help Falling in Love in it.
Cameron Crowe made excellent use of this song at the climax of Vanilla Sky (2001), which is itself an underappreciated gem. In truth, were it not for the brilliant soundtrack, the film's existential angst would probably be unbearable.
finding this CD in a thrift store and playing it in the car with my family was such an experience and something so small I dont remember until I hear this song again. It's amazing hearing this song and having a small story behind it.

I've said everything I needed to say. au revoir!
"The little things... There's nothing bigger."
This song always stood with me I was searching for it for more than 10 years and today I finally found it
Me too. It was not on the soundtrack! This and the theme from To Kill a Mockingbird!!!
Follow the first voice, listen carefully and you will be up for a surprise of what takes the pain away... Amazing art!
Explain?
dope
I prefer this version to the apparently 'original' version that Elvis' estate wouldn't allow to be released so to the lyrics (but Jason always performed live).
The new 'original' version is now on the reissue albums and Spotify, this version has been removed.
Told this girl that I love her, and she said she had the same feelings towards me. We held each other and kissed, life has never been so perfect.
A few days later she said that we shouldn't date.
This song is every emotion ever felt in that time-fram;, both pure ecstasy and pure heartbreak.
BRAVO NOLAN thanks for posting your romantic notions and heartache.
jesus mate thats tough, its a cruel world
It's the first time I comment something on you tube, and it's not a coincidence if I comment this song. It's absolutely my favorite song, I don't know why. Maybe for the mood it give me, maybe for the beauty, I don't know. Surely, it is one of that thing that you save from all the shit humanity has done. It's art, maybe.
Anna Sannino Totally art! The melody of this song touches my heart like no other does
You are love!
I’m here because of Vanilla Sky 💛 I felt truly sorry for David and Sofia after this song started playing at his memorial. She was thinking about that one night when true love seemed possible. She never got over it
That movie will remain etched in my heart. Tragic.
Everyone came because of Colby's tweet, love him🥺❤
And insta story :) ❤
Leslie XPLR yess 🥺
@@dominique3818 Colby is such a sweetheart 😩
Leslie XPLR I know 🖤🖤🖤
nope just like good music
Just hearing this again since the last time I've seen Vanilla Sky which was in 2002, and I am shocked because of the nostalgia. My brother put this song on my MP3 player and I would always skip it because the introduction kind of gave me a weird feeling and the song made me sad. The times since. Excellent song now that I realize.
Vanilla sky brought me here
90% of my brain is crying.
The other 10% is screaming that this is just Pachelbel's Canon in a waltz form
*like you she never forgot that one night where true love seemed possible
You were missed, David
When I was in Senior/High School, we did this song in a choir performance, and I've been looking for the damn thing since Vanilla Sky came out. Thank you very much, still has so much emotion in that song.
The girl from random chating 💞
The intro with Nancy and Luke Sykwalker coming in on electric guitar will forever will be one of the greatest hooks in rock history. It never gets old.
What does this mean? Who are Nancy and Luke Skywalker
Vanilla sky..... *sigh* 😪🙁
I'm still missing Sofia such a touching movie
After much spam of this song, I can say this. You can wish for taking the pain away, and it will come. That does come with a cost though, it requires you to get up and fight. To get through so many terrible days at the start, then to have them once in a while. Then you have the flag in your hands and you are running with victory. The ending of the song with all of the sounds going on, makes your heart explode almost. It's a sign that there is a heartbeat in you even though you feel your heart in your stomach. Never give up, because not trying is not the same as don't try. I love you all, and I love Me. Take Care.
One of my favorite songs of all time. It's so perfectly layered... I could listen to it all day.
Today I listen to this song in the memory of one of my best friends. You have exposed me to great knowledge about life and great music to help me feel the flow of life. May you rest in peace.
It's hard to move on while listening to this song...
I have yet to find a song that could ever match the feeling of falling in love so perfectly.
the first time I heard this song was16 years ago.
P Victor I get that completely. This was my divorce song which I never wanted. Cry when I hear it. So I avoid otherwise I write crap like this
I think that there will always be love for the one we married.
@@thatbadhuh When the mystery is gone, you're left with the truth. It means you fell in love with the idea of a person, not a person.
One day....i will meet her. Not now nor tomorrow but sometime in my life. If I die not meeting her. Then the other life
Each passing minute is another chance to turn it all around
I walked down the 'aisle' to this song!! 🥰
Holy lyrics!! Is this song written well or what?! My God. Enough to bring you to tears. How beautiful.
i just discovered this song, now i'm floating in space. Have a good day everyone, enjoy life!
Dam
this is not a coincidence
For 6 years I loved someone, we had all the elaborate plans about the future, including playing this song at our wedding. Then something out of our control happened and we had to break up. It broke my heart and a year later I’m still not feeling better. I didn’t move on and the truth is I didn’t want to.
I’ll see you in next life, my dearest love.

"I've been told
Only fools rush in
Only FOOLS rush in
But I...
Don't believe...
I don't believe
I could STILL fall in love with YOU"
One of the best uses of interpolation ngl
the funny thing is this is the version with most of it removed, the newer version currently on streaming has the full 1st verse of Can't Help Falling in Love in it.
Love you forever, D. 💜

*"The little things... there's nothing bigger, is there?"* ~ David Aames (Vanilla Sky)
"Tech Support!!!!"
Spent far too many nights ruining my life on class A’s listening to this. 12 yrs clean & it sounds better then it ever did b4. ❤️
This song will take you back to some crazy places you thought you forgot about.
Cameron Crowe made excellent use of this song at the climax of Vanilla Sky (2001), which is itself an underappreciated gem. In truth, were it not for the brilliant soundtrack, the film's existential angst would probably be unbearable.
You should check out the original Spanish film then, Abre Los ojos
@@dylanmiller2593 I did. In 1997 when it was released.
Vanilla Sky brought me here
finding this CD in a thrift store and playing it in the car with my family was such an experience and something so small I dont remember until I hear this song again. It's amazing hearing this song and having a small story behind it.
Sometimes I feel im not alive. Then i come here and feel alive again.
