Not even just an Uber, possibly the greatest Uber of all time, aside from Gen 1 Mewtwo. Much of Gen 4 Ubers revolved around how well you could deal with Specs Kyogre, and Parasect dicked it over harder than almost any other mon. If it was even slightly useful outside of that, it would've been a common sight in Ubers.

I'd think, for a future generation with different regional evolution's, Parasect should have a version that's Ghost-Bug. The idea would be that the parasitic mushroom on its back had fully taken over its host, leaving nothing but an empty shell; hence, why it would be a Bug-Ghost type. Though it would lose some attack, it'd become a much more defensive version than it's normal variant, while also not having a quadruple weakness to fire and flying, and while being weak to dark, it could still do super effective damage from it's bug type moves. On top of these defensive changes, Parasect would also be able to learn Trick Room on its own, and/or Nightmare. With Spore and Nightmare, it can have a terrifically horrifying combo by putting targets to sleep, and giving them a status effect that lowers their HP by 1/4 each turn. Some may wonder, "but if it doesn't have its grass typing, how can it use spore?" I think the parasitic mushroom should still be able to emit spores, some bug types have the ability to use stun spore, and they aren't even part grass, one is flying, another two are fairy, and the last is an ice type. So it's safe to say that bug-types can use the powder or spore moves, especially parasect; who's main motif is to have and use spore. So, I would believe a Ghost-Bug type variant of Parasect would be amazing, especially when it can still have spore and it's new move nightmare, but if the move nightmare is pushing things a bit, at the very least it should be able to use trick-room itself. Tell me what you think
Parasect needs a third evolution that makes it grass + ghost type. It would fit its theme perfectly, since the bug is completely dead and the mushroom takes control.
Conversely have death free Parasect’s mind and spirit, allowing it to fight with new purpose as it has regained agency. Maybe using the mushroom as a shield for payback. It could even be the rare Bug/Ghost Type

Concepts for Galarian!Parasect: A Bug/Psychic type that mentally connects with the parasitic mushroom on its back and turns it into symbiosis instead of merely being its poor host. It has a pretty nice stat buff compared to the OG Parasect, since its two halves are working more in tandem, and, while it retains a lot of its Bug and Grass moves, it also gains Psychic moves for better coverage. Naturally, it still has Spore, but perhaps it can also learn a spore-type attack that inflicts Confusion as well (or just give it Confuse Ray).
When people talk about how muted the colors got when we shifted to 3D games, I always think about Parasect. Look how that shiny bright red shroom got turned into a giant dusty pencil eraser.
Back in Gen I, right. I thought Electrode could check Mewtwo because, you know, it is slightly faster and has Thunder Wave and Explosion on its side... But that was not the case.
Hi, visitor from the future here. I'd like to tell everyone that in gen 91, Parasect finally gets a third evolution called Asendasect with a ghost/bug typing. Is there a chance you'd include Sw/Sh content if the Pokemon you're reviewing is/has been in that meta? I feel like there's a lot to learn so would love to see that from you!
Didn’t mention that in gen 1, paras and parasect were the only 2 Pokémon 4x weak to three types due to poison also being strong against bug, a type advantage removed in gen 2. Over 1000 Pokémon and they remain the only 2 to have 3 even if it was dropped to 2 later on, making it less viable even with fewer Pokémon to choose from
Hey I love your videos. They make my weak when they come out. When I'm feeling down I like watching them because they are so reliable and familiar they make me smile. I hope I can convey how much these videos make my day and my comment can make yours
Now that I think of it, parasect is kind of like Miyubii from Seton: Join the Pack. A sluggish, fungus-covered denizen which will drop dead after a light breeze, and is completely useless in normal circumstances, but when the floods come, you just might be able to count on it to win the race. Somewhere, a slaking is green with envy.
Give it an evolution. The mushroom thrives in a certain environment, growing much larger. Naturally, it gets a massive boost in its Defensive stats and HP. And a nice base Attack of maybe 120-125. HP: 90-100 Att: 125 Def: 100-110 SpAtt: 60 SpDef: 100-110 Speed: 15
Fr I wish they increase it's defensive stats or just remove other mushroom pokemon cuz each time they release a mushroom pokemon they over shadow the previous ones
But what would its signature move be? G-Max Powder Veil, grass max-attack that covers your pokemon in sleep powder so that they put the opponent to sleep when they make contact?
You know the only thing gigantamax does is double HP, right? The rest of it's stats and typing are still going to be garbage. Even a Mega will struggle to make it good since it's starting stats are just so bad. What it really needs is a large baseline stat buff, and grass types need a buff in general. Even then, I doubt it'll ever be better than Breloom.
I used a Parasect on my gen 7 OU smogon team. It was great! Spore-leechseed-aromatherapy- and leech life. For me it was a good answer to chancy and even greninja as well as an all around decent support
Since Spore was the Paras line's signature move in Gen 1, I say it deserves a new signature move that's more in-line with Paras' real life inspiration. The new signature move replaces a Pokemon's secondary type with Grass (a mix between Damp's type overwriting and Forest Curse's type adding). Call it "Parasite Powder" BUT THEN it gets a new evolution that changes its type to Bug/Ghost and gets a new ability that has a chance to apply Parasite Powder's effect if the user attacks with or is hit by a contact move. In rain, it is 100% and in sun, 0% As an added bonus, the new evo means Parasect can use Eviolite and can potentially become the bulky wall its meant to be
Everyone is talking about how Parasect used to have 3 x4 weaknesses, but what most people don't know is that it's the only pokemon with a x6 weakness to fire.
Oh hello fellows of this universe. I temporarily slipped into an alternate dimension where Parasect was the undisputed king of AG. You see, in the prequel game to RBY (yeah, they actually called sequels prequels and gens are counted in reverse) Parasect was given "Water Shield" where if it ever was hit by any form of water (rain, water attack, etc) it instead of taking damage, gained a mimikyu-like disguise until it was hit and could hold up to three charges at a time. Game Nerds gave it a signature move in Bug Cutter. (Base 95, 80% of lowering defense, 95% accuracy.) It also took advantage of 'Seed Blade', a powerful grass type move that seems almost tailor made for Parasect. (Base 75, doubles in base power if the opponent has lowered defenses and restores 20% of the damage as health) Lastly, they also introduced an item called water balloon that when the pokemon that held it was hit it'd break and start a rain storm for 5 turns. The common -1 set was... Eh, shoot, I'm just gonna call it gen 2 for simplicity. Parasect @ Water Balloon Ability: Water Shield Spore Swords Dance Bug Cutter Seed Blade It was a terrific Pokemon that was nearly invincible while Water Balloon's effects were active. However, -2... Er, Gen 3 Introduced The Uber Partner that would make Parasect into a nightmare legend. Kyogre would run _red card_ and after setting up the rain would be red carded into Parasect who would then instantly benefit from the Water Shield Ability. But it wasn't until Gen -3... er, 4 that pushed Parasect from Uber to breaking the game like Mega Rayquaza did in our world. For some twisted Reason, Game Nerd had a love affair for this thing and in gen 4 _buffed_ water shield to no longer have a limit of charges _and_ they now allowed _every turn of rain to stack even if it wasn't on the field_ No longer did Kyogre need to run red card. You could just have it on your team, set up rain and eventually, the Water Shield would have dozens if not _hundreds_ of charges. I can't tell you how many games I saw ended with two parasects just Bug Cutter/Seed Blade-ing a counterpart over and over. Eventually, they started running toxic just to counter other parasects. But no, -4.... Gen 5 had to make it _worse_ How? Water Shield got to _block status_ after that. Seriously, they had a love affair for Parasect. ...Okay that's actually about the only way I could see Parasect becoming OP.
I took a Parasect all the way to the Pokemon League in Soul Silver. Tried to carry on with it through Kanto, but the poor thing just has SO many terrible weaknesses that I had to replace it. It's really such a shame, I kinda like Parasect. Spore + False Swipe makes it pretty dang useful for catching pokemon!
Honestly, this is my favourite Pokemon, I have strong nostalgia of abusing spore in my Pokemon blue playthroughs as a kid, it's a real shame as an adult realising how useless Parasect was without over-levelling it
Parasect also got a bit of usage in mid-late vgc16 for a bit the same reasons that made him usable in vgc10 using usually rage powder spore giga drain and wide guard. I personally even battled one at nationals

So, I would believe a Ghost-Bug type variant of Parasect would be amazing, especially when it can still have spore and it's new move nightmare, but if the move nightmare is pushing things a bit, at the very least it should be able to use trick-room itself. Tell me what you think
Funny how a mushroom Pokémon had its role stolen by two other mushrooms.
Love that laugh in the line
'Not only does Parasect reverse the momentum but also the natural order of things by being a counter to kyogre'
I’ll never forget the gen when my favorite Pokémon ever was amazing. I miss you gen 5
I love the idea of a Mega Parasect that's somehow even weaker after it evolves.
**But it has Prankster when it evolves.**
I thought of this. Give it Regenerator and a better defense Stat, and it could maybe pull off something in Rain.
Mega Parasect:
HP:60
Attack:105
Defense:80

@@kikaioshin6700 Ok that's just mean😢
At one point in my life, Parasect was one of my favourite bug types.
It's design and concept I think is very cool despite its poor abilities.
Parasect should have always just been a ghost type anyways
Remember when Kellen used to say "Over Used"
Snowbama
Isn't it supposed to be "over used"?
@Daniel Kintigh as far as I'm concerned, that's the proper pronunciation, and no one can tell me otherwise.
Gen 4: "Paras wasn't even usable in NU... but HERE IT IS IN UBERS and VGC 2010"
Whaaaaaaat XD
He couldn’t protecc he most definitely did not attacc but at least he got a big mushroom on his bacc edit: thanks for all the likes guys this is the most I’ve ever gotten
True
Not true.
He got a big bug under his stalk.
Yeah, the big mushroom which has taken over.
LOL
'.' he learns both wide guard & rage powder though so he can & does protecc
Pfft, Parasect. It's one of those how AWFUL episodes.
>17 minutes
Oh.
@kevin rianto I commented before watching it so I thought I was going to be surprised. Legit didn't know about Gen 4 and the length makes a lot more sense now. Oh, but for one gen.

2:25 level 100 Aerodactyl vs level 50 Parasect. I can see why Parasect is so bad now.
I'm currently playing Legends Arceus and watching this video dunking on Parasect was very cathartic. I'm looking forward to the eventual Mothim video.
"In both an infuriating reversal of both momentum and the natural order"
Best Quote of this video by far.
When people talk about how muted the colors got when we shifted to 3D games, I always think about Parasect. Look how that shiny bright red shroom got turned into a giant dusty pencil eraser.
Ikr its so weird...
Gen 2 parasect is dope though but again i think gen 3 have the coolest sprite in all gen
Parasect heard you dissing it and sent its children to get revenge in Arceus Legends.
anyone remember when parasect was considered the best mewtwo counter cuz it had spore and a bug typing
I do not , that's not how pokemon works
Back in Gen I, right.
I thought Electrode could check Mewtwo because, you know, it is slightly faster and has Thunder Wave and Explosion on its side... But that was not the case.
Thats imposible considering parasect can't switch into his psychic or Blizzard
Considered by whom? Noobs or people that theorycrafted good teams in their head but never actually played against other players?
Check the Mewtwo video in which Kellen says that jokingly
Hi, visitor from the future here. I'd like to tell everyone that in gen 91, Parasect finally gets a third evolution called Asendasect with a ghost/bug typing. It received a significant buff to its stats, giving it 70 hp 150 atk 150 def 65 sp atk 150 sp def and 60 spd. However, it also received a signature ability called vengeance which boosts ups its spd and atk by a multiplier of x6.0 at
Because people are using special moves on a physical pokemon
Actually, with this powercreep I would say that those stats would not make a OU pokemon by gen 91 standards
Ok, boomer
All jokes aside this sounds like a cool regional variant
Parasect is a Gen 1 ICON, underused queen comes through in Elite 4 matches like a boss!
yeah, an icon of terribleness
If they ever bring back Megas, Parasect is at just about the top of the list for Pokemon that need it
*And then Legends Arceus came around and now everyone fears this beast of a Pokemon.*
“Stop, stop! He’s already dead!” 😭😭
apart from gen4 ubers
@@KenzoSnizzle Still useless there
You know you’re a bad Grass type Pokémon when even Meganium out-performs you...
J G lol yeh
This is exactly why we need a parasect mega to give it some new relevance

How good was that alliteration ACTUALLY?
A Bug/Ghost Parasect form would be pretty cool tbh, and a couple of buffs in its defences would not be bad
Parasect should've been bug/ghost from the beginning
It was bad, it was almost always bad and currently it's still bad okay besides in ubers from time to time it was good but it's still bad
@Just Another Handy yeah it was just okay or flat out garbage
@Just Another Handy hot garbage because it's on fire due to the weakness
it wasnt even good in ubers, it could just ocassionally give you a cheese win but ultimately wasnt worth a team slot 99% of the time
I've been waiting years for this video. Parasect is a personal favorite and I keep seeing him in the background of all the episodes.
You know your bad when one of your best STAB moves was Hidden Power.
Hey FSG!
I've been binge watching ALL of your videos as they're all awesome, and been learning a lot about past metas and even how to play in the current meta.
Is there a chance you'd include Sw/Sh content if the Pokemon you're reviewing is/has been in that meta?
I feel like there's a lot to learn so would love to see that from you!
Kyogre: You can’t defeat me.
All other Pokemon: I know, but he can.
*Parasect has awoken!*
Didn’t mention that in gen 1, paras and parasect were the only 2 Pokémon 4x weak to three types due to poison also being strong against bug, a type advantage removed in gen 2. Over 1000 Pokémon and they remain the only 2 to have 3 even if it was dropped to 2 later on, making it less viable even with fewer Pokémon to choose from
Kyogre: I faint all mons.
But that thing *squints at Parasect* it _bugs_ me.
Hey I love your videos. They make my weak when they come out. When I'm feeling down I like watching them because they are so reliable and familiar they make me smile. I hope I can convey how much these videos make my day and my comment can make yours
"Parascet even shrug off kyogre's thunder"
how
Parasect usually have high spd ev to tank its common weakness
Parasect: *Gets hit with a Fire or Flying-type move.*

Didn't expect espeon here
“In an infuriating reversal of both momentum and the natural order”
That is the best thing I have heard all day
Gen 6:
Parasect: *(Drops to PU & eventually Untiered)*
Leavanny: *Imma bout to end this bug’s whole career*
Now that I think of it, parasect is kind of like Miyubii from Seton: Join the Pack. A sluggish, fungus-covered denizen which will drop dead after a light breeze, and is completely useless in normal circumstances, but when the floods come, you just might be able to count on it to win the race.
Somewhere, a slaking is green with envy.
I have waited ages for my 410 base stat bug-grass pokémon to appear in this series about competitive pokémon.

Give it an evolution. The mushroom thrives in a certain environment, growing much larger. Naturally, it gets a massive boost in its Defensive stats and HP. And a nice base Attack of maybe 120-125.
HP: 90-100
Att: 125
Def: 100-110

thicc fat would be the perfect ability for a grass-bug pokémon
Instead they gave It dry skin because why not
Flash Fire Parasect might work.
@@Drakorre dry skin is literally its saving grace.
2 decades of experience, 1 video of fun plz buff parasect
With the look in Parasect's eyes, it looks like it has suffered enough long time ago.
And, only a gigantamax form can save it at this rate.
@@Lardo137 It needs an evo to give it better stats and it could really use a better ability.
Well, SWSH DLC is coming up in a few months so we can only hope if GF will bless Parasect a new regional form and evolution to make it a threat.

I used a Parasect on my gen 7 OU smogon team. It was great! Spore-leechseed-aromatherapy- and leech life.

I missed you saying "YADA YADA YADA" even though it wasnt when talking about your social media platforms
How to improve Parasect:
Give it 110 speed
Bad competitively or not, I'll always love this Pokemon no matter what.
And probably find a way to use it during in game teams for fun :)
Don`t you mean how BAD is Parasect? This thing gets destroyed by Charizard. Even with spore, there are many Pokemon that can outspeed it.
Kyogre: I fear no Mon, but that thing...
Parasect: ●_●
Kyogre: _...it scares me._
Call it "Parasite Powder"
BUT THEN it gets a new evolution that changes its type to Bug/Ghost and gets a new ability that has a chance to apply Parasite Powder's effect if the user attacks with or is hit by a contact move. In rain, it is 100% and in sun, 0%
As an added bonus, the new evo means Parasect can use Eviolite and can potentially become the bulky wall its meant to be
Yeah parasect with eviolite Is going to wall every Pokémon with Is massive HP and awesome defensive typing
@@thecriticalghost4626 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
"Parasect would then Spore something on Kyogre's team, in an infuriating reversal of both momentum and the natural order."
Everyone is talking about how Parasect used to have 3 x4 weaknesses, but what most people don't know is that it's the only pokemon with a x6 weakness to fire.
If we tiered pokemon by how annoying they are to encounter in Legends Arceus, Parasect would be Ubers.
Parasect @ Water Balloon
Ability: Water Shield
Spore
Swords Dance
Bug Cutter
Seed Blade
It was a terrific Pokemon that was nearly invincible while Water Balloon's effects were active.
For some twisted Reason, Game Nerd had a love affair for this thing and in gen 4 _buffed_ water shield to no longer have a limit of charges _and_ they now allowed _every turn of rain to stack even if it wasn't on the field_
No longer did Kyogre need to run red card.
Gen 5 had to make it _worse_
How? Water Shield got to _block status_ after that.
Seriously, they had a love affair for Parasect.
...Okay that's actually about the only way I could see Parasect becoming OP.
Can we just stop and ask the question why all these past games have better animations than sword and shield?
7:04 that very well might be the best line in any of these videos so far and thats some high praise
Lemme see that conkeldurr history my man
Also I really love you're vids keep it up :))

Honestly, this is my favourite Pokemon, I have strong nostalgia of abusing spore in my Pokemon blue playthroughs as a kid, it's a real shame as an adult realising how useless Parasect was without over-levelling it
Aaaaand now you gotta wonder how is mushroom stew made
Fun fact: Dry Skin Parasect has a 5 times weakness to fire since Dry Skin adds a fire weakness
Parasect also got a bit of usage in mid-late vgc16 for a bit the same reasons that made him usable in vgc10 using usually rage powder spore giga drain and wide guard. I personally even battled one at nationals
