We started playing with this during production, but decided against it on this first piece due to the cost and added effort. We definitely plan to revisit testing out diffusion materials!
I know a lot of people complain that the price is high but its really not. *Assuming those are 5050 aRGB leds that look like they have their bodies touching* Estimation would be about 1k - 1.5k in raw materials if anyone wanted to try and make this at home, then there is the machining costs, chem processing, and assembly. The final product looks wonderful. I do have a couple questions, in the original design it was taken to festivals and had a different base. Did you design in rechargeable battery pack into the base? Have you thought about a smaller version using the 2020 or 1515 leds? How about other shapes?
The mobile installation we take to music festivals is powered by a bunch of LiPo 6s 22.2v batteries that we keep in a backpack. Using the same LEDs, so it's a lot of power - 6 of those batteries will last us a full night. We've toyed with other shapes, but ultimately the dodecahedron provides with the best combination of complexity and large parallel faces (which is how the effect is maximized). You're right on that price range for our mobile installation. The cost is much higher for the DeepLight 12 for a number of reasons, not limited to the higher cost of extremely high quality specialized parts and R&D that has gone into building a production pipeline that can consistently create high quality parts.
Why has the price of these going up X4 but none are being sold according to the remaining amount on the website? I was in the position to buy one but the price has quadrupled since it has been released.
I really intend on buying one but not right now because I'm young and don't have $5,000 laying around. Why is there only being 500 produced? I feel like by the time I get a stable enough income to where buying this would be sensible, you guys would have sold all 500.

Very true, artist has outside vendors make his frames, and solder leds to circuit boards and cut 2 way glass mirrors panes and some code in fast led, anyone and I mean anyone that pays 8500 on this is a moron….. only difference in this and others are glass vs acrylic that’s why it looks so clear.

We actually do not use mirror film, as the mirror effect is not clean when using mirror film. We use a chemical process to apply a mirror coating directly to the glass.
Could you go more into detail in how you did this? I’m very interested since it looks like your infinity mirror has the cleanest and deepest reflection out of any I’ve seen.

I'm attempting to make a cube installation for a venue about 3x this size as a spinning chandelier, and seeing other attempts on TH-cam vs this I've definitely got my hands full in this endeavor. This is the most impressive reflection I've seen. I bet this is two way glass (didn't realize it's SO expensive).

$8,500?! I literally gasped 😂 I mean it's pretty cool that they don't want just anyone having one in their home lol or hardly anyone at all. I understand the complexity of maybe writing your own code to run the LEDs, but at the end of the day it's just RGB's and two way mirrors. It likely won't be AS pretty, but with some ready-to-go plug and play RGB's from Amazon and some two way mirrors from Home Depot this could be made at home lol and for $8,200 less if not more.
I can understand it. there are Lots of Design lamps that cost thousands of Dollars, without any functionality, only normal led bulp, plastic glass. So itself the price is totally ok. they only produce 200. I think even for 50.000 All units will be Sold to rich people imediately, like for exclusive cars, too.

WHat did you use to power these ? I made an infinity cube with W2812B 144/m led strip 264led total. th-cam.com/video/HUDD9bEJIyI/w-d-xo.html . I'm using a 3amp usb charging block and i know it's not enough, it gets hot after 30mins. Not that i keep it on that long, but i would like to. I figure it's pulling 6-9amp depending on the pattern its displaying (no brightness adjustment). How many amps is your's pulling?

Our animations are controlled manually with a Playstation4 controller! We've got MIDI and additional real-time controls in the works.
