@@Necatuss it depends on scale of the market- if they've done the r&d to design it over a few months, only making like 1000 units which will sell slowly to niche musicians and assembling by hand , 800k gross would probably leave a fair profit for the business If it's popular and they get a bigger batch knocked out from a production line, then it could maybe be done cheaper with bulk parts and labour time savings.

It sounds like circuit bent toys.. Me and my best friend spent a whole summer buying toys from charity shops and circuit bending them all. I have whole sample packs full of horrific glitch noises like this. And yes... The classic Speak'n'Spell was easily the best of the bunch... RIP John. I miss ya buddy.. and your mad professor approsch to music. ❤
I had a Bent Math N Spell after a similar summer or busting open Casios and whatever else I could find and just… touching wires and stuff together. I recommend everyone interested in music to do this. My friend ended up making a coffee can with the ends of 5 speaker wires poking out of the top, and just touching them made nice low volume bass noises. He called it “The Human Box”
Is anyone interested in a sample pack of disgusting gritty totally un-usable circuit bent noise? 🙃😅 Let me know where I can upload a .rar of this dirty noise and I'll do it.
Seriously. TE must be one of the most overpriced gear makers in the business. And that latest piece of dreck they just dropped onto their cheering hoards is a 90’s-esque lo-if hipster train wreck that will be available for a significant discount on Reverb within a few months. Bit-crushing was cool for about ten minutes back in the late 90’s/early 00’s, same as your hipster beard, fixed gear bicycles, over-hopped IPAs, and shoe-gaze.
I looked in the Noon. The cost of the components of this unit is a grand total of about $35. They’re selling it for almost $800. It’s a nice toy that should it’s no more than $100. If that. It’s a toy . Any real Synth module enthusiasts can build this themselves
Cost of components =/= cost of engineering + cost of labor + cost of design. If you're a real synth module enthusiast, why don't you build one yourself and sell it for cheaper instead? -_-
@@spdcrzy Why? Theres plenty of synths made exceptionally well and priced accordingly. Besides. Spending time recording viable music is more interesting.
I'm guessing because it's probably a boutique design being built by a small shop by hand. Looking at the website that's the vibe I get, but it's just a guess. If true, I support the high cost
@@FreejackVesa true, but how being small has now become enough on its own for many boutique chasers to excuse is why this hobby has gotten to the unobtanium financial gatekeep it is today. As stated; this device is totally passive - it isn't even powered, and relies on outside gear to even make noise on its "own"! So the barrier of entry already raised right there, useless on its own and priced purely on gimmick & "but we're a small team who only ordered a small MOQ!" The R&D for passive circuit-bending does not justify this cost.
Error instruments now has 2 passive drum noise drum things. Only reason I know this is cause I looked up a few nights if there was anything that was passive and similar to this thing. Error Instruments has a module the Singularity. But also has one they just announced like an hour ago a stand alone unit. Def looking into getting one of them cause I've been obsessed with your video on the Noon
Also: I made it into a sample pack if you want to use it yourself!

I'm not normally the guy to balk at the price of unique gear, but $800 for some potentiometers in a box is a bit ridiculous
100% Agree. It's really cool, But like should be like $200 max imo. WAY overpriced for what it is.
Same - looks and sounds cool though.
