Funny this sequel happens to be my first Rudolf movie which did worked out for me and gained me sympathy for baby Happy. And as a grown up now I can say I can relate to Happy
They changed him in Rudolph in the Island of Misfit Toys as well and Rudolph and Frostys Christmas in July. It was because kids liked him better younger and they could sell merchandise.
Yes, and like what happened to Clarice and Hermey? I liked that they used Mickey Rooney's Santa design but I like Rudolph's original 1964 design better. His nose sound is a lot better though.
Big mistake MANY miss. This show takes place right after the "FOGGY" night. That being circa 1962. A "couple of year's " before Sam the Snowman relates the story. Got me? Sooooo HOW on earth can he visit the island of 1965? 😂😂😂😂 It didn't happen yet so it COULDN'T be retired. 🤔🤔🤔🤔 MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄🎄🎅🎅🎅
besides the "unfortunate years", possibly there's going to be a 1970 -land with Groovy representative and 1980 land with a Cindy Lauper/Madonna representative
I still wonder why Rudolph's best friend Hermie and his girlfriend Clarice are nowhere to be seen in this atleast the CGI sequel remembered to include them
And of course in 2004 we would get a CGI sequel to the Rankin Bass film taking place a year after the events of the original Rudolph and the Island of Misfit Toys
Oh, don't even get me started on that one lol. Mostly everything about that movie was horrible. I would pick Rudolps Shiny New Year any day over that one.
Presumably meant to comfort children who get laughed at for being funny- or otherwise different-looking, this special only succeeds in justifying cruelty. You'd think Rudolph would be more empathetic rather than fall back on a lame variation of the "We're not laughing at you, we're laughing with you" BS rationalization.
@@skootergirl22exactly it's not like America was lacking any British actors living in America at the time as their was George Sanders, Alan Napier and Roddy McDowell
I like the concept for Shiny New Year. I just hate how disconnected it is from the original. Look, the designs, hell none of the original characters from the first are even mentioned. Santa is portrayed completely differently to the point he might as well be a completely different character. Shiny New Year would’ve really benefited from having a stronger connection with the original. Idk have Ukon and Herme join Rudolph instead of forgetting they even existed.
Amen to that, bud. A lot of the Peanuts specials are crappy like that, but seriously, why is Charlie Brown the only one who has to do a book report?! And Linus stealing his girl just to get out of hanging with Sally - terrible. Just terrible.
Happy isnt the Only one with big ears, Nester the donkey also had the same problem to.

This film has alot of plot holes such as Rudolph was a kid again even though the film ended with him as a young adult

The original puppets are destroyed
Rudolph’s antlers:
Reindeer shed their antlers like American deer. We could have caught him mid season.
Just redesigned by Paul Coker Jr.
Something tells me we are getting a lot more Holiday Crossovers then we thought. 6:14
Baby bear was voiced by Red Skelton, who also voiced Father Time
I definitely remember this special on tv.
I watch tham on Christmas because New Year’s Doesn’t last long
I used to love this special as a kid.
they called it Nineteen wonderful as there was still 25 more years until the year 2000 and they didn't want to date the special with a specific year.
Always liked this special how he went back in various times
I wish we could have seen the 60's Island. They could have had Ringo Starr as the Island's representative
@@nancyomalley6286 A Ringo Starr cameo would’ve made this special 10 times better.

I had a build a bear of her I do recall watching these specials

great video! i definitely have mixed feelings about this special lol
@@lyxpup Thank you! Glad I’m not the only one who has mixed feelings about it lol.
I always thought the baby looked a bit like Harpo Marx with the hat on so I always said "It's Baby Harpo!" when watching the special
I thought he looked more like machine gun Kelly

The World War years do indeed have islands. But it's all just Switzerland. Nothing but Switzerland.
2020 island is probably like the sentinlese island where no one's allowed on the island
Yes, in the new year movie but I watch it on Christmas anyway all these movies of rackin entertainment I want every Christmas not New years
This special isn't particularly good, but it is pretty creative, so I think it gets by on that more than anything.

I still think Big Ben's name could've worked had he been given a British accent
By an actual British person not an American

This special is 100x better than Happy New Year, Charlie Brown. That special's AWFUL.

12 years, not 11, after Rudolph

These occurrences seem too repetitive.
