  • Watch my FIRST TRY with a 36" unicycle : • The biggest wheel for ...
    This summer when the all world got shut down because of the pandemia, I discover Ed PRATT unicycle tour around the world channel. As I already ride unicycle for many years, I was astonished by this amazing way of adventuring the world.
    So when all my usual festivals got cancelled, I realized that this summer 2020 might be my only opportunity to go for my own unicycle tour. Therefore, I bought my own touring unicycle and went for a tour around Estonia without any preparation.

      Hey Ed,
      Thanks for watching. It cheers me up so much to see your comment this morning. The admiration I have for your work and the inspiration you gave me are honest. Six months ago I would not have imagine me going on such an adventure. And I have no idea about how I would have gone through this Corona time without this project.
      Sorry for the clickbait. I didn't thought it would get me such a big fish as you ^^

      Niiice ! I so happy each time I see some people 60+ who start learning unicycle and go for adventure.
      Have you heard about Hans Howald ? 70 years old and he made from norway to spain on uni !

    I'm a new unicyclist, but I can see that you really need to drop down a little lower with the back leg - bend it like a spring - so you can spring up better with full extension from your ankle. Use the rear leg and ankle well and you can do it easily.

    • @SylvainOULALA
      @SylvainOULALA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. Hard to know when it will be possible to travel again. Luckily in europe, I think it will be possible to travel as long as I stay in one country. So next year, I'll do an other tour around Estonia :D

    You sound like you have a French accent but you are in Estonia it is weird (I just discovered your channel and if your name is Sylvain and you travel with a circus I guess it is possible that you are French). Anyway it was a cool video !

    How do you feel with the 36 inches after more experience? Could you ride with all the gear?
    Considering a 32 for touring with just a bit more maneuvering.

    • @SylvainOULALA
      @SylvainOULALA  ปีที่แล้ว

      Now, I am ridding super smooth with the 36". I would recommend to go for 36 rather than 32. It will take couple week, then you'll feel confident maneuvring the 36 and you'll go faster :)

    Why 36 inch wheel? Wouldnt smaller one be easier? :D

    • @SylvainOULALA
      @SylvainOULALA  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Smaller wheel is a bit easier to ride and a lot easier to mount. But a lot slower and as the plan was to ride 1000km around Estonia (which is very flat country). I think 36" was the "got to". I struggle a lot mainly because I never practice on a 36" before.

      @dudeonbike800 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Consensus says anything smaller than 29" inch is too small for touring.

    Lahe 👍. Kui palju episoode tuleb kokku?

    • @SylvainOULALA
      @SylvainOULALA  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ma absoluutselt ei tea. Ma algusest motlesin et ma voiks teha umbes 10 episode.
      But at the moment, I use my footage very slowly, And what I thought will do one episode is sometime enough for two or three. So I'll just edit the footage until, I don't enjoy doing it anymore (but I don't think this will happen). Or until I don't have footage anymore (And when it happen, I'll ride the second half around Estonia ! ).

    • @SylvainOULALA
      @SylvainOULALA  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@szymjak Funny, I was thinking of your advice today while riding. And my problem is that I have the saddle kriss holmes Fusion one without handle. So I have no real place to hold the uni by the saddle, Plus I have the break on the handle bar and if I hold the unicycle from the saddle it can happen very easily that I push the brake while mounting...
      I'm not sure what's the best solution here. After watching Ed Pratt with attention I noticed that he indeed get on the uni holding the saddle.

    Man, and I thought Ryan Van Duzer's helmet straps were bad!
    Please, Mr. Oulala, fix those straps! The way they are now, you might be better off NOT wearing a helmet. Right now, wearing it gives you a false sense of security. It won't do much if you take a header!
    First, helmet needs to sit level on your head, not so far back like you're wearing it.
    Second, the two straps coming down need to connect below your ear lobes.
    Third, the chin strap needs to be snug. As snug as is tolerable. Ideally, the helmet should pull down when you open your mouth wide.
    Fourth, adjust fore and aft ear straps so they hold the helmet level - they should both be taught.
    I hope this helps others realize proper helmet fit involves a good size and shape shell for your head and THEN proper strap adjustment. If you get both right, a helmet will serve you well!
    Bon Voyage, Mssr. Oulala!
