Yes to thé Dries Van Noten lipsticks, and yes to cash! Always the right size and right colour. I tell the person I am giving cash to…”have fun buying something that you want, need, and will use.” I have never received a gift that filled all those three categories ( want, need, will use) and eventually the gift went to good will. Sorry about this but I care about my friends and family.
@ disagree, one of the people I gave cash to, saying’ get what you want, need and will use’ answered’ thank you so much , I will use this for alterations on a jacket and think of you whenever I wear it’. To me that is a win/win.
Gift cards for a funky store you think your friend will like is a pretty cool gift. It allows them to explore a nice brand without much commitment. The amount however needs to be enough to get the average item tho, that’s important. Givenchy has a great selection of lipsticks and cases you can mix and match and they can even be engraved. It’s a great mom gift.
On pants hangers: I really fell for those S-shaped non-slip rubber coated ones that you can easily find online for very reasonable prices. They make hanging your clothes so much quicker, no more marks and creases from any clips, they work for skirts as well, and they look pretty sleek and minimalistic. Make sure to choose ones that are on the thicker side if you want to hang heavy wool pants.
some of my favorite gifts for people in my life who enjoy fashion are good cotton garment bags, garment washing bags, and cedar wood hang ups (not to be confused with hangers) for garment storage
I once gifted someone some red Gammarelli silk socks-- so unusual and a real hit! "Also known as the Pope's tailor, Gammarelli is the famous socks maker based in Rome since 1798, specialized in ecclesiastical clothes." Worth a look for the person who has it all!
Yeah I don’t understand why cash or gift cards are considered impersonal. Now as an adult I ask for cash or gift cards from my parents bc any gift they(well, mostly my mom) choose for me is usually… not something I would pick out myself. Those things end up going to waste - my mother scolds me for donating clothes she bought for me in the past. But idk I get tired of hoarding items that I don’t want. I prefer being able to take the cash gift and go shopping myself!
My friends and I pulled names the weekend after Thanksgiving, we write four things we really would love to have maximum 200.00 Whatever name you get, that's who you buy and one gift under 30.00 for our get-together before Christmas , so each of us get two gifts . It's to expensive to buy each friend a gift
Ok so I usually stay away from super personalised items like perfume (Have got given a lot of really nice perfume, but its not been the type I really want ykwim), clothing, or big home furnishings. I keep a page of my notes app dedicated too noting down things that ppl have hinted to wanting. But if I really don't know then I think "what would be nice for me to have but I can't justify purchasing it." So I end up giving elevated versions of what the people around me use, for example my mum always uses a weekly planner so I bought her a fancy leatherbound version. Gift giving is such a weird thing for me, I feel like it's almost a competition. Like I have to give a really well thought out gift that they will use for the rest of their lives. Idk lmao
My neighbour makes always sure that my packages from the mail are taken inside, so they can't be stolen when sitting outside the front entrance. So I'll gift her a gift voucher for a bra then. Thanks for the input that everyone will like this gift 🤓📝.
every Tuba vid is a gift tbqh 🎁
I am neither fashionable nor realistic but I’m thrilled that this popping up in my recommended means that I’ve fooled TH-cam into thinking I am

gifting cash alone is very impersonal and kind of depressing honestly. cash as a bonus to something thoughtful is always nice of course

Kotn basics are the best, comfiest, and most consistently quality basic pieces I’ve over owned.

I love the idea of expensive hand soap bc it’s not something I would buy myself. And yes to socks, esp wool socks bc they are always useful.

How about harris tweed jacket from margieala winter '19 collection (in his collab with harris tweed)😊
In our family we give each other money that way it is about togetherness not at all about WANT, but about Love ❤️

Thanks a million! Very helpful ! 😊🤝
I have aesthetic issues with gifting money, even if I understand that it's the most practical gift. It always strikes me as lazy and unchic.... :/
