the singer crying at the end just shows how much emotion she's putting in her singing and the fact the she continued singing is just too perfect. one of my best songs ever
She actually initially wanted to rerecord it because of that, but Taro liked it so much they decided to keep it in. And I agree it adds so much to what was already an incredible song.
When Final Fantasy 14 released its 'Nier Automata' themed 24 man raids during its Shadowbringers Campaign, the last bossfight of the first raid in the series of 3 had an empowering version of Weight of the World play. Instrumental, 'lyrics' in the 'nonsense' language....people were all pumped up and hyped......and then, they went to TH-cam, listened to the various versions, and people ended up crying after this version.
The massive balls they had to keep it in and make it a natural inclusion. (Just as massive Balls as are flying towards you in Eve's final fight) I have goosebumps now and am shivering. If there ever was perfection in a musical piece they've totally nailed it with this one. One of the best pieces of all eternity.
@@Chambersu While I like this version and all, but...This one plays more by the orchestral tone and emotion. Which is beautiful in its own right, but to me, the End of Yorha carries far more emotion and meaning. Everyone's experience varies, but I cannot listen to that song without thinking back to that moment and wanting to tear up.
@@CursedHatter More than that, End of YorHa is comprised of many, many members of staff who collectively came together to sing it. The true emotion of End of YorHa though requires the context of the fact that you only experience it when you unlock the true and final ending. It is like Shane said, it is the 'swan song' of the endless cycle that is Project YorHa and us as players decide to break that cycle. Which is why you are joined by many, many, many, other players through out the world to break that cycle and when you understand that these players CHOSE to sacrifice their 50+ hours of gameplay to help a random stranger succeed...that is when the song chokes me up. Standalone I do prefer this version more though.
I think I read somewhere that they were going to do another take but Yoko Taro wanted to keep the singer crying in the game. What a good choice. It's so genuine and raw.
he is weird as hell and that’s why we love him bc weird means real raw music like this in a world where everything is sanitized for “best presentation”
Yoko taro is a man of elgence and dosent avoid what heart saying... Rather than listening to the people on the top... Thats why he couldn't find a company to publish his games.... cause he doing in his own way
Each of the main characters has their own version of this song: 2B (ending 1) - English (''But the truth is that I'm only one girl'') 9S (ending 2) - Japanese (''Just for a future together with you'', also 'boku' is a male pronoun 'I') A2 (ending 3 and 4) - Chaos language
You know that in japanese "boku" it is normally used by boys, but girls use it too, and it is mostly reffered to girls who are tomboyish, just the way 2B is, she is a beautifull woman, but she too is tomboyish and in VA japanese actress is the same as Mikasa from attack on titan :P
"boku" is like the informal way of saying "I", similar to "ore" (which is often associated with gangster or any rough type character). from the context of the lyrics I think the english one is about A2, she has been trying to atone for her "past mistakes" and been trying to fight alone (only one girl). while the Japanese one is about 2B, because of her back story (from the stage show and book). But it could be about both 2B and 9S too, as it uses "bokura" (we) pretty often. I think the first part is about 9S and the 2nd part is about 2B. then the chaos language is the cultivation of every characters.
Another fun fact, "boku" is often more commonly used in Japanese songs for female singers to refer to themselves because it's easier to fit in instead of the usual feminine usage of "watashi" or "atashi" which are longer.
I love this version too, but Ending E's version of this piece is a whole different experience, I suggest watching a playthrough of it. Starts with the 8bit version, then into Chaos, English, and Japanese. Finally, a chorus sings the melody and it's actually the dev team of the game. It's emotional to say the least.
The way that ending works out had me bawling. You’re literally fighting the developers, refusing the fates of the characters written into the game, deciding you know these characters deserve a chance that the game’s writers didn’t think they deserved. Yoko Taro is a notoriously cynical, almost nihilistic, man and by choosing to undertake that ending and then sacrificing your save data so others can do the same, you’re literally telling Yoko Taro that people are worth fighting for. It’s the best ending in any game in my view.
I read in a behind the scenes that the part where her voice starts breaking that she really did start crying because of the power of the lyrics. The studio liked the way it sounded and decided to us that take. I think it really adds to the song.
Japanese lyrics : The vanishing salvation, The washed away body, And the sky is still dark even now, The clock that has stopped moving, The machine that makes no sound, And I couldn't hear my voice (anymore) This is my curse, the depths of sin I've committed. Your wish, even with this corrupted soul, I will redeem it! And so, we right now Even if it's worthless, we still cry out the song of the broken world. And so, we right now Even if it's meaningless, we still hope Only for a future with you As the lovely smile from that day, Disappearing... The overflowing greenery, The wasted lives, Even now, the wind's still faraway The peeled off rusts, The twisted blade, The forest where death lurks This is my curse, The pain of killing a promise The wish of yours, With my last dream that I threw away, I will atone for it! And so, we right now Even if it's worthless, we still shout out The love in this tainted world. And so, we right now Even if it's meaningless, we still hope Just for a time to be with you As my drowning consciousness Slowly disappeared... Even thou my prayers won't grant me forgiveness, I...
Ending E of Automata was the only ending in a game powerful enough that I was actually left at a complete profound loss. The sheer depth of emotion in this piece especially, after the already deeply intense events of the final route, was just so incredibly mezmorizing. You feel the loss, the suffering, but also the intense defiance and inspiration to fight for a better future, you feel real hope in a very raw form. It's single-handedly raised the bar for me when it comes to meaningful game creation across the board. Damn you Yoko Taro, you beautiful bastard.
This song, no matter in what language, never fails to tear me up given what it signifies and when its played in the game. One detail that I did not know initially about this song is that a part of it (of one version of this song) is sung by the devs and people who worked on the game and it adds on to the feeling of everyone, including the creators, cheering you on to keep going at the end which fits perfectly contextually. Appreciate your insight on this and love your vids
That should be "The End of Yorha" version that mixes the different languages, 8 bit, the dev, etc... It plays during the final credit scene in Ending E. I would highly recommend taking a listen to this version. And if you haven't done it yourself, check out Ending E in Automata where this version plays.
@@jmstover nooo don't "check ending E out", experience it!. watching is not the same as experiencing it for yourself. although if you really don't have the chance to, then I suppose watching it is fine. otherwise, play it.
The symbolism of fighting through the determined “ending” breaking it to find your own happiness and closure in this game goes really well with this song.
@@trevorveillette8415 I totally agree with you on that. I just know some people, get through A ... and call it done. Don't even care that other endings exist. I agree, go through and play through E to experience it. It's honestly bloody amazing. But, if you don't feel like that, at lest watch the full ending to see it in context.
I never really noticed that the singer was actually crying at the end before. I could clearly hear that she was being more emotional, but I didn't know that it affected her that much. I'm glad that they kept that take. It was all the better for it.
It’s common for people to love and remember one of the first interactions of the game in which 2B states to 9S, “Emotions are prohibited.” In contrast with such an emotionally compelling song to bookend it all, but now I’m thinking about the games structure as a whole: in which it builds on top of already established songs adding more purpose, music, and humanity as you learn more about not only the world, but the deeply flawed characters you are on this journey with. The ways the music reflects this understanding and openness to emotions… What provocative insight, love the channel!
I can't understand japanese at all, yet i was able to connect with this song and feel the emotions it provides. Let this be the proof that the language of music is universal!
Ah man the nier ost. This is probably my fav. Def a really top pick. But when I got to this part in the game I cried. If you know you know. I love how the 3 singers use there native languages in it. If I remember correctly the japanese singer cried singing it once.
Me when he hears the song: omg he feels the emotion as she cried 😭😭😭 4:36 Few Moment after soon: ascending to heaven with this lighting suddenly 6:26 Me: gimme back my emotion 🤣🤣🤣
Each version of this song conveys a different emotion to me, like 3 different perspectives of the story being told. Those 3 perspectives come together in End of YoRHa, along with the messages left by other players, and the chorus of people(not professionals, just normal people, which was a brilliant choice) all pushing you to not give up, to keep pushing forward even if it feels like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. It's amazingly done
The original Nier’s credits song “Ashes of Dreams” is by far my favourite video game song. It has amazing lyrics and precious few (zero lol) reactions to it on YT so I’d love to see you do a video on that one someday!
While "Weight of the World" resonated with me more, "Ashes of Dreams" is another beauty. One thing that the series is great at as is playing a variety of these powerful pieces. They are the musical equivalent of thorny roses. Even when delightful and sometimes hopeful, they are full of melancholy. Those two songs aren't exactly the more hopeful sounding ones, though. To enjoy their beauty, you must endure their thorns.
This piece is something truly special; I’ve played and watched hundreds if not thousands of games in my 25 years, and while I often feel like my ability to cry was lost years ago probably from abuse at school, it’s pieces like this that dig down and find that piece of humanity and on my first playthrough of the game I just fuckin bawled it was so beautiful, like seeing heaven; the game deserved game of the year for its soundtrack ALONE fuckin MASTERFUL not many games in my opinion come this far and do so much to ENSURE The player feels every decision and action and piece of dialogue
This song always makes me cry a little. But being 100% I would recommend for you to hear the final version as well. Weight of the World (End of Yorha)----- With this one, I just can't hold off the tear for hours. Ps: this song has a total of 4 versions for each of the possible ending roots of the game each in a different language (English, Japanese, Chaos language, and the last version that combines all the other 3 together into one for the actual ¨final song¨ of the game).
I can’t ever listen to this version and NOT cry 😢 it’s so raw and vulnerable. It breaks my heart every single time, and that’s even before the part where the vocalist starts crying. It’s a masterpiece.
When you hear the voice crack, it hurts your soul. When she fully breaks down while still singing, you start to cry along with her. This is a powerful song
If the End of YorHa version didn’t exist then this would be my favourite version of Weight of the World. The singer crying just gives it that extra emotional punch, it never fails to give you goosebumps.
Also, interesting fact: The French version of this song is sung by Emi Evans in Chaos Language. I have a theory as to why this is the case, but I think that's a story for another time (it has a lot to do with NIER (the first game)'s development).
Nier automata is one of my favorite games of all time. I can’t tell you how many times me or my wife cried during it. And during the end credits I was crying heavier and heavier especially when the choir hit and just gahhhhhhhh the 8bit version of weight of the world hits different, it starts off almost friendly and childish then just builds and builds until you’re just hit with the weight of it all and you realize just how important and how meaningful everything is that’s going on right then and there.
I cried at the credits to this game, having the 2-bit, Japanese and English versions of the songs as well as all the inspirational messages from real people just hit me different
Bro same. Honestly I was going through a hard time when I played it and it just made me cry after a long while. Yoko taro has made something that I hold so dearly.
Yep. The messages moved me but the moment that really hit me was when the chorus joins the song (as you're receiving the upgraded ship no less). It just really brought home such a sense of unity and support in a way no multi-player game ever could for me and I played through the rest of the sequence with tears streaming down my cheeks. Simply the best moment I've ever experienced playing a game. I also absolutely love the fact that when you make your own message there are options to create negative remarks, like "You should give up, you can't do this" etc. And yet in multiple playthroughs I never saw one single negative message.
The OST of this game is so beautiful and so emotional I absolutely fell in love with the OST of this game and with the characters You can hear the singer holding her tears back
Finishing Automata made me feel a different person after the credits rolled. I've had forgotten how the japanese singer felt the song so heavily. Thanks so much Marco for such a great remembrance 🙌
I know how you feel. when I finished Automata, I never saw the world the same again. I had come face to face with my own mortality and it changed me. I will never forget that moment when I gave up my files for the sake of others. how.... CONNECTED I felt to the world.
I HIGHLY suggest the version from the "NieR Automata Music The Memories of Puppets Live" Concert. It closes the show! It starts with the chaos language, then Japanese, then English, then all three singers humming the tune and finally the audience joins in!
I rememeber hearing this song transition towards the E ending and realizing the meaning of the E ending mini game to achieve it to what it means and seeing others saved data come in when the chorus grows. It made me cry. I could go such much more into detail the meaning of the E ending and the significance of this all. The song is a hopeful song towards in the end its more rather a song of second chance when you play it along with the game.
just finished playing through all the endings and now binge watching all the Nier music reactions. This game is such a masterpiece! Listening to this song at the end of the credits to complete route E really broke me to tears D'X
I've played the whole game about 6 years ago and I barely remember this song. The game is amazing and I've always wanted to play it again for that reason.
Every time I hear this song I just cry. It's really tough to listen to it without doing that. If I can distract myself enough, then it works, just listening. But the first lyrics start and the first pieces of music and I am gone. :)
Man I have found you by some random youtube recs and how glad I found it. I can feel the passion for music in your comments and every single video the same passion can be felt. Thanks for bringing this kind of content, it's apreciated.
Having found your channel by accident today looking for old Ace Combat music, I just gotta say after watching a few of your videos, I've come to enjoy your reactions already, especially since you've been spot on every damn time thus far. Devil Trigger, Bury the Light, and a few others from Bloodborne I've watched from your channel's analysis and discussion videos have been amazing. Also...I CANNOT listen to Weight of the World without getting teary eyed, especially since I've played through Ending E as many people here have no doubt done. I've fought and bled with countless other Neir Automata players the world over, all of us believing fully that people are worth fighting for. Because they are worth fighting for, no matter how dark the world might seem, especially these days.
This is quite possibly the only series of reaction videos I have ever actually watched and enjoyed. It's so cool to hear other people's thoughts on these excellent pieces of music, especially since we have no actual idea what is being sung in many of the NieR-songs (this one, Ashes Of Dreams and Emil's Shop being the exceptions).
I've always preferred the Japanese lyrics for this song as they convey a much more hopeless feeling vs. The English lyrics. One of the many beautiful things about this game is that although there are several different endings, none of them feel particularly "good" or "bad". Every one of them has a bittersweet quality to them, because no matter what, the characters have gone through so much and lost so much. Its so hard to choose favorites when discussing VGM, but I would be remiss if I didn't count this track among the top of the list.
I finished this game during the worst of covid lockdowns and also being out of a knee surgery while dealing with a breakup and living away from my family and friends. When the end credit hit, it was the first time I ever started crying uncontrollably since childhood. I think it cured my soul.
Kowareta Sekai no Uta is quite likely my favorite iteration of this song, aptly named "A Song for this Broken World." Lyrically, it's the breaking of a heart, making the vocalist crying that much more impactful. The little touch of the "... Boku wa..." at the end was the best way to have ended it - it carried the weight of the last tear to fall, and stands out for the complete lack of hope the other versions carry.
Ahhhh been waiting for this! And it's the emotional Japanese version! This track hits sooo hard, especially at the Credit Boss Fight, where all those questions pop up and you have to fight through the cast but you are slowly getting overwhelmed, but then the people who gave their "life" (save files lol) come to rescue you, IF you accept it. And so can you, turn in yourself too, to help others. As 2B says in the beginning: Everything that lives is designed to end. We are perpetually trapped in a never-ending spiral of life and death. The game does an excellent job of showing just that. And this song makes you really understand, that no matter the circumstances, you must carry on, even if the future ain't as bright and hope is dying.
I love this game so much. There are so many tracks that sound happy and cheery but in context are such tearjerkers, the theme in the machine village and the one with the child chorus(don't remember the name) in particular come to mind.
but then, every one offers help to u for beating the credits, it is overwhelming emotional, feel that u are part of something bigger, and the love u can receive by people, it is the most humane feeling i had in a while
Always love your inputs on songs ! To add on the pile of things that have been called about the Ending E version of the song, the chorus in the background are actually the game devs including Yoko Taro ! The game actually has a story close to what Final Fantasy 1 was where it's the "last shot" kind of and the game dev team participating in the very last song like this makes this a love letter to everything this game stands for in my heart ! Anyways much love and if you do enjoy songs like this I can only advise "Hoshi to bokura to" from Persona 5, another send off masterpiece !
The drums/bass really make me think of This Silence is Mine, the song from Drakenguard 3. I don't know if it's because the themes of the songs are somewhat similar (I must go on, I must carry this weight) but the drums/bass sound so similar to me, even though This Silence has this harsher emptiness to it while Weight of the World has a more soft hopeful feel. I haven't played Automata but I think it would be neat if there was that connection there like that.
This game, and of course the soundtrack are really the heights of modern digital storytelling, and tragedy in general. Yoko Taro and his team are absolute geniuses
damn that crying part makes my tears falling down without no reason....i miss this game so much best OST of all time...i remember completing this game multiple times in different profile....
Light spoiler warning? I try to be vague. I have listened to this song many times over the past couple years. For the first time I actually went and beat endings C D and E. I don't cry easily. I wasn't raised to cry. Pieces of media have made me break 2 times in the past 27 years of my life. Today it became 3. Nier ending E broke me. Not at first. But as I struggled and finally failed and the game asking me if I was going to quit trying. No. No. No. No. I won't give up. I won't fail here. Then I found out I wasn't alone. It resonated with an experience I've dealt with this year. Having to force myself to keep going even when I really really wanted it all to stop. Being knocked back into it again and again and then finally being helped out of it. It broke me. Listening to this song after that experience brings that tightness in my throat. Wetness at the corners of my eyes. It doesn't break me like the ending did, but it hits so much harder than it did 24 hours ago.
I was listening to the 3 CD version of this soundtrack all day today while doing an assignment, so I've heard this song multiple times today in different languages and versions. And then I delved into the Weight of the World reaction videos. It's impossible for me to even hum the song (or even remember it!) without getting emotional. And I don't think due to the connection to the story. I think it's independent from that. There's something about this song and the way it is performed in its various versions that just goes straight for the heart and soul and squeezes. In a good way. A bittersweet way.
I am pretty obsessed with hearing the whole version with all 4 voices. All 4 are incredible, though for whatever reason, the Mandarin voice Hits me just as hard as the English (even though I do not understand Mandarin at all). And when the children choir at the end kicks in, I lose it. It's so powerful. I will listen to the entire 14 minute Version anytime!
I absolutely adore the NieR games osts and Automata is no exception! I recommend the End of Yorha version of this and Ashes of dreams is a fantastic song too. There's a rendition from a live show that is my favorite. Gonna keep an eye out for more reactions! Subscribed
Honestly this is the kind of song that would play for a character, whether they’re from a video game or book, that literally feels like everything rests on them. Like if they have this mindset that despite all the allies and people supporting them, they really feel if they fail or even falter then the world will burn and it’ll be because of them. It’s a type of song that really puts you in their position or mindset because you’ll also be thinking at the end, “So many people are relying on me. I can’t let them down, it’ll be my fault if the world burns.”
It took me song long to bring myself completely finish out Automata. The entire game was such an emotional journey that I couldn't bring myself to lay the final straw. And then when I finally did, they threw THIS at me. Sure not this exact version, but still, this song has so much emotion in it that hearing it in the end brought me to tears.
What's amazing about the NieR: Automata OST is that almost every song was done 3 times. One for overworld exploration, one for combat, and one for when 9s is hacking. Also during your first playthrough of path A all of the language in the world is unreadable because 2B is a combat modal. It's not until you play path B as 9S that you can finally read the robot names and their codex entries. Path B is also really interesting as 9S has access to information that 2B doesn't so a lot of path A gets recontexulised as you learn more as 9S. An example is the fight with Simone and the related quest Jean Paul's Melancholy which you only get a small hint of during path A but during path B you get a much deeper understanding of what really happened. It's really fitting that the last song is the only song in the game in an intelligible language because as stated before when we first start we don't know anything about the world and at the end we finally know enough to understand the music.
Automata is actually the first strand type game. The ending bonus game with other people sacrificing their saves so you can complete the bullet hell is kino strand type tbh.
I had forgotten about the singer crying at the end, that made me tear up just like I did the first time I heard it. I love your interpretations of these songs, you got a new subscriber Marco! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Ashes of Dreams from NieR Replicant if you haven't already reacted to it! Love from Brazil 💙
First it's ace combat zero now this Glad TH-cam recommended you to me I have some gist about orchestra as I'm a part of religion choir Both ace combat zero and Weight of the world makes me cry
I finished the game for the first time about 2 months or so ago, I already bought the OST and Unreleased tracks, as well as the piano collections...loved the music so much. I like to listen to this version particularly because of the emotion she poured into the end. Have you thought about setting some time aside to play the game? I promise getting to ending E is a beautiful and bittersweet rollercoaster. Its such a masterfully done game and soundtrack.
the tower is essentially the song of suffering. the song feels like a character is limping forward to hope, but only finds more pain and suffering. it's a song of no return. the song to me is best described as a never ending hopeless limp through suffering. it's such a sad song. when it plays in the Game, you feel the weight behind these characters lives and what they've been through, and it hits so much harder too if you read the novels and uncover the lore in general. my personal mental image for "the tower" as a song is 2B painfully limping in a white void with blood splattered on the ground and her. she's limping forward toward a white light. to the side of her are countless memories of her killing 9S. she's crying seeing them all play out before her eyes again. she keeps going towards the light ahead of her, and when she reaches it, it's 9S. she breaks down sobbing while hugging him, then kills him. she gets up and limps forward to her next light of hope. and that's where the song restarts/loops. that's how I've always pictured the song. 2B may not be alive during the part of the game this song plays, but it feels the most fitting for her. I mentally time her footsteps with the heavy low chords of the piano. makes it sound like heavy, labored footsteps. like a struggle to walk, and to find the will to walk.
During the game we getting used to really good soundtrack, yet still this song makes it even harder to play at very "real" end. damnit, why Nier sountrack has to be this good
Speaking of Video Game Soundtracks, Transistor by Supergiant Games! Yes, THAT Supergiant Games, who created Hades. So, early in the PS4's life cycle, Supergiant released a game called Transistor, it's not a long game by any stretch either, and it was the first game they had published since Bastion (another classic game they created). In a way, this was Supergiant's homecoming, they hadn't released anything for 3 YEARS, and many had been curious as to where the studio went. Transistor has a fascinating soundtrack due to the nature of it's story and world. The lead protagonist is a woman who is only mentioned as "Red", due to events at the beginning of the game, she loses her voice. She's famous singer within the city of Cloudbank. Her sword carries someone who is only vaguely mentioned, we don't know their relationship other than some small hints throughout the game as it's never stated. The man inside the sword essentially narrates the story throughout by talking to Red, as Red can hear him. One of the neat features at the time was that you could hear him speaking through the speaker of the PS4 controller. As you progress in the story they find small ways to communicate with each other, the way the storytelling was done was something I had never seen before. You were completely blind to this world or how it worked, to the protagonist and the man in the sword, but as the story continued you learned more about them, as vague as some of it felt, but it painted a picture without spelling it out for you, it allowed you to figure it out. ANYWAY, had to gush on the story, because of how it pertains to the music. So, Red can't speak throughout the game, BUT SHE CAN HUM. This was one of the greatest most unique things a game had ever done with music for me. Every track in the game has a "hummed" version. Ashley Lynn Barrett (of Bastion fame) is the vocalist of all of the tracks with vocals and also the hummed versions, the way the hummed tracks are used in the game is one of those moments I honestly have never forgotten. I'd highly recommend the game itself as it isn't the longest (Roughly 4-5 hours, can be finished in a single sitting, and generally you can find all the bits and bobs. There's a new game plus but it's not a required journey.). So on to the recommendation of music, "We All Become", "The Spine", "In Circles", and "Paper Boats". If you have to choose one, I'd recommend "We All Become".
I really like every version of this son but definetly my favorite is the version of the ending E. It fits perfectly with the game and how it ends. It is in different languages and it´s very different from this one. You should listen to it.
Its really been 5 years since Nier Automata came out huh? i just heard that in the intro and i was already halfway to tears, its been quite a couple of years i have to say, and well they keep coming don't they? Funnily enough hearing the song gives me a feeling of hope, painful and excruciating hope but hope nonetheless. The game throws you through so many twists and turns, both emotional and the convoluted plot kind. But at the end of all that gives you a pretty simple and straightforward message to hold on too, i of course wont spoil it here but i will say that sometimes you don't need a deep philosophical debate about how to live your life, sometimes a single word or action is all you need to answer the hardest questions. Oh and awesome Reacts Marco, Happy to see your channel growing steadily!
your take on it was that it’s not an uplifting song but if you play the game, the song is not a song of despair and blaming god like it seems on the surface, but a song of hope. it’s a song and a game sequence that explains to you that you’re never alone, and even people you hate are pulling the world with you (the chorus joins in the game at the point when you’re beaten over and over to submission, and you accept a random transmission that is trying to help - that turns out to be another player that sacrificed their entire save file just to come and shield you from what is up until that point, sure destruction). that we are all in this together, like it or not, and if we want, we can sacrifice for others we don’t even know, or we can just be the one who needs the sacrifice. human experience is all these things and none of us is the hero, villain, or neutrally ineffective. we all play our part. it’s beautiful and somewhat tragic.
Thank god Taro kept the crying of the singer at the end instead of removing this and rerecord a new version. Crying of the singer truly shows how much emotions was involved to perform the song, seriously so fascination and just bring ripple effect with the game itself. The most recent game that I had similar feelings would be Death Stranding, whoever experienced it would know what I mean...
Definitely subscribing. Keep up the good work! I won't suggest anything at all since you probably have the agenda quite tightened up. I've been enjoying your videos a lot so far, thank you for everything you've done for us to watch and enjoy ourselves a bit with you.
the singer crying at the end just shows how much emotion she's putting in her singing and the fact the she continued singing is just too perfect. one of my best songs ever
She actually initially wanted to rerecord it because of that, but Taro liked it so much they decided to keep it in.
And I agree it adds so much to what was already an incredible song.

Are you sure?

One of the best pieces of all eternity.
This hits different bro
As others have said, the "End of YorHa" version is a whole different beast itself, and comes off as humanity's swan song.
This version is still better imo
@@Chambersu While I like this version and all, but...This one plays more by the orchestral tone and emotion. Which is beautiful in its own right, but to me, the End of Yorha carries far more emotion and meaning. Everyone's experience varies, but I cannot listen to that song without thinking back to that moment and wanting to tear up.
@@Kuraudou i like end of yorha for the like what 3-4 different languages
Then Weight of the World Prelude (FFXIV nier raid) is a song of hope
I think I read somewhere that they were going to do another take but Yoko Taro wanted to keep the singer crying in the game. What a good choice. It's so genuine and raw.
Yoko taro is a smart man. He wants to show raw emotions and I love him for that.
he is weird as hell and that’s why we love him bc weird means real raw music like this in a world where everything is sanitized for “best presentation”
Yoko taro is a man of elgence and dosent avoid what heart saying... Rather than listening to the people on the top... Thats why he couldn't find a company to publish his games.... cause he doing in his own way

Each of the main characters has their own version of this song:
2B (ending 1) - English (''But the truth is that I'm only one girl'')
9S (ending 2) - Japanese (''Just for a future together with you'', also 'boku' is a male pronoun 'I')
A2 (ending 3 and 4) - Chaos language
You know that in japanese "boku" it is normally used by boys, but girls use it too, and it is mostly reffered to girls who are tomboyish, just the way 2B is, she is a beautifull woman, but she too is tomboyish and in VA japanese actress is the same as Mikasa from attack on titan :P
@@MyJONY13
Yes, however, 9s uses boku consistently throughout the game. 2b does not use boku as far as I remember.
“Boku” kinda hits different imo.
Agreed! You can also see/hear it in the Memory of Puppets blue ray. It's got al three singers and finishes the with the audience singing along.
Indeed, listening to that version while fighting your way through the credits was an incredible experience.
@@DasKomet Yoko Taro is a genius and a demon at the same time man
That Chorus kills me everytime....
I read in a behind the scenes that the part where her voice starts breaking that she really did start crying because of the power of the lyrics. The studio liked the way it sounded and decided to us that take. I think it really adds to the song.
The song is perfect that way.
The end of this game is probably the best i have experienced in my entire life. this song, in all of its versions, is beautiful.
100% agree . There was something special about Nier automata even after all these years this song I still remember
Japanese lyrics :
The vanishing salvation,
The washed away body,
And the sky is still dark even now,
The clock that has stopped moving,
The machine that makes no sound,
And I couldn't hear my voice (anymore)
This is my curse, the depths of sin I've committed.
Your wish, even with this corrupted soul,
I will redeem it!
And so, we right now
Even if it's worthless, we still cry out
the song of the broken world.
And so, we right now
Even if it's meaningless, we still hope
Only for a future with you
As the lovely smile from that day,
Disappearing...
The overflowing greenery,
The wasted lives,
Even now, the wind's still faraway
The peeled off rusts,
The twisted blade,
The forest where death lurks
This is my curse,
The pain of killing a promise
The wish of yours,
With my last dream that I threw away,
I will atone for it!
And so, we right now
Even if it's worthless, we still shout out
The love in this tainted world.
And so, we right now
Even if it's meaningless, we still hope
Just for a time to be with you
As my drowning consciousness
Slowly disappeared...
Even thou my prayers won't grant me forgiveness,
I...
@@trevorveillette8415 this is a given.
*crying my eyes out* what happened this was supposed to just be swordfighting robots!!
The ways the music reflects this understanding and openness to emotions…
What provocative insight, love the channel!
I know
This game had such a massive effect on me, and the music never fails to move me, even now. Incredible stuff.
Me when he hears the song: omg he feels the emotion as she cried 😭😭😭 4:36
Few Moment after soon: ascending to heaven with this lighting suddenly 6:26
Me: gimme back my emotion 🤣🤣🤣
Really? Zero???
It is also my favorite song from nier, made an arrangement for it on the piano and everything
To enjoy their beauty, you must endure their thorns.
is it in the nier remake?
@@Jackeh47 yep
This piece is something truly special; I’ve played and watched hundreds if not thousands of games in my 25 years, and while I often feel like my ability to cry was lost years ago probably from abuse at school, it’s pieces like this that dig down and find that piece of humanity and on my first playthrough of the game I just fuckin bawled it was so beautiful, like seeing heaven; the game deserved game of the year for its soundtrack ALONE fuckin MASTERFUL not many games in my opinion come this far and do so much to ENSURE The player feels every decision and action and piece of dialogue
This final piece at the end of ending E is what gave Nier Automata a spot in my top 5 games of all time
@@theodorixjohnson4336 What are your other favourite games?
Kawano-San crying at the end is so pure.
I wanna hug her.
This is such an emotional song. I really haven't heard the one where she breaks down at the end. God I love the Nier soundtrack so much.
4:00 Yep, right there, and as I heard hear voice quiver as she took in a breath, my tears started to well up.
The OST of this game is so beautiful and so emotional I absolutely fell in love with the OST of this game and with the characters
You can hear the singer holding her tears back
Finishing Automata made me feel a different person after the credits rolled.
The absolute professionalism to stay in the take and finish and capture perfection as a result
Not me being in super dramatic mode because of the song and remembering the awesome game ~IKEA AD~ 🥲
The song is a hopeful song towards in the end its more rather a song of second chance when you play it along with the game.
the NieR games have consistently been the only games where the music gives me straight up goosebumps when listening.
Nier Automata is one of those experiences that touch heart and soul with music, visuals, story.
Easily one of the best on a flawless soundtrack. Absolutely unmatched
This... when you know in the end credits the chorus begin to sing is all the Platinum games team hits so hard.
just finished playing through all the endings and now binge watching all the Nier music reactions. This game is such a masterpiece! Listening to this song at the end of the credits to complete route E really broke me to tears D'X
I've played the whole game about 6 years ago and I barely remember this song. The game is amazing and I've always wanted to play it again for that reason.
I love your takes on the nier soundtrack, I just caught up with your video on "mourning" earlier
Every time I hear this song I just cry. It's really tough to listen to it without doing that. If I can distract myself enough, then it works, just listening. But the first lyrics start and the first pieces of music and I am gone. :)
Marco. Already u heard one of the most impacted track in game history
Man I have found you by some random youtube recs and how glad I found it. I can feel the passion for music in your comments and every single video the same passion can be felt. Thanks for bringing this kind of content, it's apreciated.
Thank you ❤️
The lyrics hits so hard reflecting on what 2B must have been feeling through everything. If you haven't I strongly recommend reading a translation.
When you finally reach the Ending E of NieR, this song will makes you crying like hell and carves itself into your DNA forever.
Even though it doesnt have opera in it you have to listen to all the Touhou songs. Beautifully crafted.
By a drunk self-taught composer and dev named ZUN, no less.
❤️ thank you!!!!
Same.
I like Japanese versions of songs.
Probably because I believe that the voice is another instrument in the room to me.
And this song makes you really understand, that no matter the circumstances, you must carry on, even if the future ain't as bright and hope is dying.
just superb and sad
Yoko Taro and his team are absolute geniuses
damn that crying part makes my tears falling down without no reason....i miss
this game so much best OST of all time...i remember completing this game multiple times in different profile....
When I first heard this I cried for what felt like hours during the wiping of my file during the true ending
Wholeheartedly
I am so happy that you review that song !
i was hearing the metal version its rock on, but the lyrics is so deep that i shed my tears. Emotion overflow
Yoko Taro destroyed the players with this ending song, now he's about to annihilate the anime watchers.
Automata is actually the first strand type game. The ending bonus game with other people sacrificing their saves so you can complete the bullet hell is kino strand type tbh.
This song and Voice of No Return in NieR Automata just moves me emotionally

I finished the game for the first time about 2 months or so ago, I already bought the OST and Unreleased tracks, as well as the piano collections...loved the music so much. I like to listen to this version particularly because of the emotion she poured into the end. Have you thought about setting some time aside to play the game? I promise getting to ending E is a beautiful and bittersweet rollercoaster. Its such a masterfully done game and soundtrack.
The Tower I feel is a slightly underrated song in the OST it’s so beautiful and just makes you feel so many emotions when you close your eyes
the tower is essentially the song of suffering.
the song feels like a character is limping forward to hope, but only finds more pain and suffering. it's a song of no return.
the song to me is best described as a never ending hopeless limp through suffering.
it's such a sad song. when it plays in the Game, you feel the weight behind these characters lives and what they've been through, and it hits so much harder too if you read the novels and uncover the lore in general.
my personal mental image for "the tower" as a song is 2B painfully limping in a white void with blood splattered on the ground and her. she's limping forward toward a white light. to the side of her are countless memories of her killing 9S. she's crying seeing them all play out before her eyes again. she keeps going towards the light ahead of her, and when she reaches it, it's 9S. she breaks down sobbing while hugging him, then kills him. she gets up and limps forward to her next light of hope. and that's where the song restarts/loops.
that's how I've always pictured the song.
The title is now more appropriate than ever, glory to mankind..
Oh and awesome Reacts Marco, Happy to see your channel growing steadily!
thank youuuuuuuuu :)
your take on it was that it’s not an uplifting song but if you play the game, the song is not a song of despair and blaming god like it seems on the surface, but a song of hope.
it’s a song and a game sequence that explains to you that you’re never alone, and even people you hate are pulling the world with you (the chorus joins in the game at the point when you’re beaten over and over to submission, and you accept a random transmission that is trying to help - that turns out to be another player that sacrificed their entire save file just to come and shield you from what is up until that point, sure destruction). that we are all in this together, like it or not, and if we want, we can sacrifice for others we don’t even know, or we can just be the one who needs the sacrifice. human experience is all these things and none of us is the hero, villain, or neutrally ineffective. we all play our part. it’s beautiful and somewhat tragic.
One of the BEST songs i heard ever.
the emotion that she put into this song is unreal and amazing
Thank god Taro kept the crying of the singer at the end instead of removing this and rerecord a new version. Crying of the singer truly shows how much emotions was involved to perform the song, seriously so fascination and just bring ripple effect with the game itself. The most recent game that I had similar feelings would be Death Stranding, whoever experienced it would know what I mean...
You know a song is great when the singer herself starts crying while singing it.
This song , I Always cry it's so hard :(
This game is so packed full of amazing ost, yet I still haven't played it...
friend, if you're able to, treat yourself and play this game, i do not exaggerate when i say this is a life-changing experience
Gotta mention this. There is an excellent Prelude version of Weight of the world from final fantasy xiv.
Definitely subscribing. Keep up the good work! I won't suggest anything at all since you probably have the agenda quite tightened up. I've been enjoying your videos a lot so far, thank you for everything you've done for us to watch and enjoy ourselves a bit with you.
Omg you’re welcome such a kind comment
