Former fire/EMS here. The system is called opticom and it’s usually an IR strobe that flashes at a receiver on the light. You can usually see the receivers on top of traffic lights. They are small. Anyway that’s the system I’ve seen the most. Could be newer ones out there

One of the scariest things I’ve learned from your videos is just how common it is for people to be on their phones while driving. I knew some people did it, but anytime I watch a video it’s so eye-opening. I don’t even understand how people can do that while thinking it’s safe or okay? My phone is tucked far away from interaction, I’d be so so stressed even attempting to look at it while driving because of potential consequences. Keep fighting the good fight!

Back in our younger days, when a car was parked in the bike lane, we would lose our bike handling skills (wink wink) and bump into it while squeezing by. If someone was sitting in it, we would bump it and dramatically fall down while crying. Their first reaction was anger that we hit their car, but they soon realized they were at fault. Those were the good ole days.

As a driver and avid car lover, past cyclist I wish there was a group chat amongst cars so you could cuss people out.. the texting and driving this is INSANE I don't understand why it's so prevalent here.. in a car, when I see it, there's nothing I can do (I drive a early 2000s project car with no horn) but damn. I see why people get road rage.
Society is ever-increasingly straight up addicted to their phones being in their hands. I wish we were like the UK, where phone drivers can be reported and get 6 points on their license and fined. It would save me from having to endanger myself by calling them out!
I had 2 people try to cross in front of me in SLU at night when it wasn’t their light. One ran back to the curb after getting past two vehicles that had a green light. The other just didn’t give a f and crossed in front of a line of cars that had a green arrow. They didn’t seem crazy or high either. Despite the deadly potential, people don’t give a 💩. 🤦♂️ I’m amazed every day. Surprised more pedestrians aren’t hit or kill. It wouldn’t be the fault of the driver either in the scenarios I am seeing. Of course police DGAF and have not enforced jaywalking for political reasons for 10 years +. No need to enforce such a thing, what could go wrong between a vehicle and a pedestrian?

It probably used to be a loading zone when there was parking there, but it's a bike lane now. There would be a Loading zone sign and other parking markers, like there are further down the street 😌
Who's driving school? Swerve Driving School (it's a catchphase that the AEW wrestler "Swerve Strickland" uses) but he says it like this, "Who's house? Swerve's House. A thought I had because of the jellyfish powers. I can see lane splitting in those situations since there's almost no risk or whatever. But in various 'bad driving' compilations I see people on motorcycles lane splitting moving cars on the highway. It's apparently legal in some places, but I just can't imagine that being a good idea.
Yeah a motorcycle is wide enough, and usually travelling at high enough speeds, that lane splitting is generally a bad idea. I only feel confident doing it around stopped/very slow traffic on a *bicycle*

Part of being a road cyclist is being able to hold 20MPH for hours, agree with the driver. I ride 200 miles a week in Los Angeles and would never hold someone up like that. Do some interval training on a hill to get your speed up, minimum speed laws do exist in all 50 states.

@@SaltySeattleCyclist There are 4 types of speed laws in all 50 states, minimum, maximum, prima facie and basic. If you want to ride 6mph in the road on wide knobby tires bothering everyone go ahead, but you aren't a real road cyclist, and it's not legal.

Bending frames back into place, putting on cables and derailleurs, adjusting derailleurs, new wheels, inner tubes, tires. If you have an E-bike then get a multimeter and replace the parts yourself. YOU ARE THE MEAT IN BREAD PERSON.

When I got my car in 2021 I set the headlights to Auto. Never had to touch them again.
