This no weapons run was my first challenge run and was a lot of fun :)

I absolutely love that Link has a unique animation for showing up to the final boss without any weapons. He’s ready to throw hands
Zelda sacrificed her sapience and spent 10 whole millennia as a mindless beast to repair the master sword, and link decided he’d rather just use funni laser horse heads. That’s gonna be an awkward conversation.
Wasn't it actually way more then 10 millennia cause it was just 10000 years ago that ganon last attacked in botw but that was not the demon king it was just ganon right?

@@itskdogi’d say it’s a glitch not because the ai is doing something wrong, because it’s behaving perfectly as intended, but rather it’s the objects that are bugged where they have the unintended effect of not getting destroyed

@@rayraymind This is true, but with how they didn't patch out windbombing and BLSS from Breath of The Wild, two very game-breaking exploits, they just might not patch the the Second Imprisoning War from ToTK...

It's been like a month and he's already done something crazy like this, I can't wait for speed running to get going for this game it's gonna be insane
I'm already impressed that it's only been about three weeks and yet as of today the any% run is already sub 1 hour, with multiple exploits discovered (and patched). It's already getting pretty insane out there, just imagine how it'll look in a year or two.

Hey SmallAnt you can use Tulin's wind to throw items farther, just press A on him so he comes behind you and then A again immediately after you throw your object. Extra distance.
That edit at 1:28 caught me off guard. Very smooth!

I was really expecting at the end that the "No 'new' Weapons" clause would come back into affect during the Demon Dragon fight, allowing the challenge to be possible
Considering that the fight was done a day after the clause was made, I think he just forgot that the Master Sword was declared legal if forced by the game.
I learned 3 things from this, the intended strat for colgera, that I was looking for the spirit temple in the wrong place, and that I almost fought the demon kings army accidentaly

They do say the rito mature faster, maybe that makes them more capable with bows due to the focus required to aim?
I got spoiled by him, the second companion and the water attack seems kinda useless.

@@circularnectarine1439He’s pretty useful when you’re exploring in the desert, it cools you down for like 2 mins. He also protects me from attacks so I’m grateful for Sidon 😊

I wish there was a bombardier outfit or something that increased the damage and range of thrown items. It could have a set bonus of reduced explosive damage too.

This challenge run was such a journey, I'm glad I could witness it. Ganon trapped in angry baby jail is the funniest thing I've seen in Zelda for sure.
That transition at 1:27 was CLEAN
I want to believe that link canonically defeated the demon king by trapping him in a box and throwing gibdo bones at his face
I like how smant didn’t know ganondorfs attacks cause he cheesed the hell out of it 💀
I made it into the boss fight with 2 non-gloom hearts and no gloom food, so I just gibdo boned him in the head in bullet time to death…it was a little anti-climactic, but I didn’t want to have to come back with gloom food and/or be more careful in the lead up.
17:16. For anyone wondering the intended method of that shrine, hitting the switch makes the thing in the center spin around. You can play T-ball with it.

The sheer amount of creativity TotK allows for is just astounding, you can find an unorthodox solution for pretty much everything in this game

My favorite part is shrines where they're really intricate puzzles and I'm just like "what if I built a really long bridge" and it works
Runs like this, by you, are 50% of the reason I was so hyped for this game to release
This is exactly why 10/10 reviews were being given to this game
Because you can literally do whatever tf you want as a youtuber ones said there are no bad ideas only ideas that can do terrible wrong

That Ganon jail thing seems like a (hilarious) glitch, but I won't dismiss this run because in theory, that fight could be done with a crapload of food and patience
its definitely exploiting a loophole in ganondorf's AI, but given that the game technically lets you bring that into the arena and ganondorf has no moves that allow him to teleport, i wouldn't say its a glitch. the game is definitely working as intended, just to a very silly degree. i think a lot of zelda games let you use some weird, random gadget against the final boss (e.g. the bug net in skyward sword or the fishing rod in twilight princess, etc) this is just taking that to the logical extreme lol

Yeah, if anything here is a glitch it's that those blocks specifically don't break from the slash but everything else does.
@@glassphoenix9095 agreed, this is an exploit, not a glitch. a glitch is being able to shoot the ganon blights from outside of boss arena in botw and damage them mid-cutscene, while this is just obeying the game's logic. enemy attacks don't damage those blocks for whatever reason, ganondorf was not given a teleport move, autobuild explicitly lets you bring your creations into a boss fight- it's all allowed!
@@heathersmith4042 The only glitch here is that those particular blocks can't be destroyed by bosses, which is a developer oversight and not consistent with the game's logic.
It’s likely those blocks are coded differently because of where they show up. Absolutely brilliant.
Love that someone else finally dived through colgera. Did that my first play through and watching everyone struggle through it was painful
I didn't struggle with that boss but I had no idea I could just dive through it. Gonna do that next time I encounter it.

I literally thought I had to use fire arrows to melt the "ice" and then shoot a normal arrow at the web... 😑
@@stephencorbin4043 so many folks missed it. The game devs tried to teach you with ice on top of the very first trampoline boat. It’s way faster and easier to just shoot it with a bow though. I’m just an old school Zelda gamer that loves finding the intended routes before I break the game lol

@@MetaKaios If Link can dive 2 km into water, he can dive into less dense ice. (FYI water essentially becomes solid at that speed)

When the game dropped and I started playing one of my first thoughts was how I can’t wait for the “I Beat TOTK with only apples” videos
It’s so cool to see the absolute range of totk players. Like I’ve spent about 100 hours in this game and I’m finally starting to do the actual main story quests, but this man has both 100% the game, and also has done this. It’s crazy cool.
i got really scared when editing my "no y button" challenge run when I saw you streaming it cause I thought you had beat me to the punch, but that damn final attack really screws over any challenge runs huh

Friend of mine did something similar, managed to beat the game without pressing Y and it's really surprising how difficult it can be with even that minor difference
not being able to press even a single button is not a minor difference.

Great run. Super creative. I did the entire Yiga clan mission, but skipped through it mostly. Thought the helmet was the only cool reward. Didn't even realise they teach you a move. I have a hard time beating the Ghibdo on a normal playthrough so this was mad impressive.
One little thing though, it was mostly a glitch/exploit less run... I wouldn't even count trapping Ganon a glitch. You figuring that out is insane enough. But the fact that he stop attacking is a bit of an exploit.
I think it still counts! Super fun to watch this challenge run! Think I might have to give it a go myself! Thanks for the great content Smant!

@@2fischerman some people dont do every shrine, and even when they do it can be so easy to just skip the challenges and not learn what theyre teaching that sometimes im not even sure what the challenges are lol
@@lixyororke It's one of the Training shrines. You literally CAN'T NOT do what they want.
The game literally teaches you that in the first cave area of the tutorial, when you first get the bright bulb seeds

This must be the first time I heard someone being happy about the Mineru-mechsuit. And all it took was to ban all weapons, bows and shields from being used.
