    Great comparison! I just picked up a large drop point and I can definitely feel the tolerances like you mentioned. It just oozes quality. I don’t think people realize just how perfectly built they are until they hold one.
    I got mine in a swap, and before holding it for the first time, I never would have spent that much on a knife. Now, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back. Even my wife, who isn’t a knife person at all, said “wow, that’s built amazing!” after holding it and playing with it just once.

    I just saw Sean's review yesterday and already you have the Sebenza in both sizes; that postman is fast! :) Granted they are at the high end of production folder pricing, but based on this review and Sean's they seem like semi-custom (similar to Bark River in fixed blades.) The blade geometry is done extremely well, as is the blade shape! Thanks for another excellent review!

    I am and have been torn about wanting a crk for a while now. I am yet to hear anyone say that they aren’t anything less than what you think you’ll get. But to pay what I’d expect to pay for a gun on a knife is very hard for me to bring myself to do. Especially when other companies have shown that the exact same materials can be brought to market for far less $. I understand that the effort has a value but there comes a point where you have to ask how much value are you bringing the customer. Hence my dilemma. Great video none the less. Enjoy the day

    I've had the small for about 3 years. It's the right handed model. I'll tell you from me, I would buy the large in left handed. As a lefty I want all knives in left handed if possible. But when I picked up mine it was a screaming deal , used and opening was not a choice. I picked mine up for $220. Worth every penny. And I would pay upto $400 for a nib left handed. But I think in today's market. CRK as just a bit over priced. Great knives and worth there weight in gold 10 years ago. Even 5 years ago. But today's market is flooded with awesome knives as good if not better, made in the USA for $280-350. So if CRK wants to stay competitive I believe they are going to have to reduce the cost. They have been making these models for over 25 yrs so " R&D and machine to make them" has long been paid for 10 fold.

    • @BigRedEDC
      @BigRedEDC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You make a very good point rekozma! Personally I don't thnk that will happen but you never know. People are still buying them at the top dollar price even though the market is flooded as you pointed out. Thanks for watching my friend!!

    Great video and opinions about the knifes.....😉 I've pounded on the table making my case for crk since the moment the first 1 I bought hit my hand.
    I know the price is a bit steep... and most people see it as just another titanium slab constructed frame lock knife... in a sense that's really all it is.
    But show me another company that sticks around for as long as crk.... show me another company that offers blade replacement and will still have the blades 30 years from now, or offer's you the spa treatment option...
    Show me another company that takes the time to make their tolerances even close to what crk does... and crk does their heat treat in house and every example comes back within their advertised target range ....
    Here's the thing... if you don't keep your knives around for extended periods of time then I wouldn't suggest a crk... they're designed and built to be user friendly worker knives and if you don't use the shit out of your knives it'd be a waste of money to buy crk.
    And the 1 thing that I love about my sebenza more than anything else on it or any other knife I've ever owned is the ease of maintenance... take out the 3 screws, clean everything, re grease, then slap it all back together and torque the shit out of all the screws and the action is the same every damn time. There's no adjusting the pivot and it stays the same with extended use.
    Anyway sorry for running my mouth so much. Lol. Awesome vid J.B.! Thanks again for your service to our community!!!!

    • @BigRedEDC
      @BigRedEDC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't thank you enough for loaning it to me to do the comparison of the 2! It goes back to our discussion from SKL! You are very pro CRK and Sebenza because you love the knife a feel it has every bit of value in it. There are others that feel that its just way too much to spend on a knife and that's cool too. That's why there are so many makes, models and colors out there....so there is a little something for everyone!

    I knew you were going to pick the small. I know how much you like the smaller knives.
    From everything I have seen and heard you can definitely feel the quality on the knives or knifes as our friend puts it. They are great looking in a subtle way. They aren't going to win any flashy contests but the tolerances are spot on. You got to handle 2 great knives. Personally I have to disagree with you on which one but sorry I have to go with what I usually find fits me best.

    I'm with you, 200 is an expensive knife for me. I do like the one sided stud and the inside relief cut on the frame lock, makes it cleaner and nicer looking. I wouldn't get the use out of a 4-500.00 knife. It would just be a really expensive mail opener.

    The Sebenza is my Grail knife, and has been since I first saw one. I'll almost certainly never own one, though. Because they are so expensive, and rightfully so, I'd be afraid to carry it for fear of losing it. And I don't really want to own a knife I'm scared to carry. I can't see the point. So I'll dream, safe in the knowledge that it's more a pleasant fantasy than an unfulfilled longing.
    And I'm with you. The smaller one. My hands aren't huge, so I'm sure it's be a better fit.

    I have a few knives that are in the $40-$50 range. They are the most expensive blades I own. I have handled some expensive knives and don't get me wrong they are very cool. I won't buy a knife I won't use and I would have a hard time cutting open boxes with a $500 knife. If it was more than $100 it would go in the safe and what kind of waste would that be?

    I don't understand it I do not understand it we are talking about knives knives supposed to be used knives supposed to be cleaned knives are supposed to be sharpened now if you have Deep Pockets and you're buying one of these super high in fucking knives it's a collector's knife you buy it you put it up and you can look at it once in awhile there is no logic in that you work hard you pay your money to buy a tool a knife is a tool nothing more nothing less to be honest I can't afford to buy anything over $100 and so far as I know. I have 30 knives in my collection and they all range from $50 to $100 and I will give these knives to my son when I die when my son gets these knives he knows I used it and I took care of it a little bit of my soul are in these knives they are meaningful

      RAIN MAYHEM Like I said, you've obviously never owned one. Should I get rid of my M5 because an '87 S10 pickup drives just as well? Nope. I work hard. I 'm lucky enough to make a good living. I use and depend on my knives and gear everyday and know the value of well built tools. When I carry my Sebenza, it brings me joy. It's part of a rich knife heritage and is always there for me, just like the 40 year old Uncle Henry I was given as a kid and still have; Just like the Ka-Bar my uncle carried in Nam and I still have; Just like the Gerber my friend's widow gave me. There are those who think a CRK is cheap. There's quality knives at $30 or $300. As a fan of knives, I like them all and respect whatever people use and whatever works for them. You on the other hand have to badmouth things you have no firsthand knowledge of. Which is kinda sad if you think about it. Don't be mad. You do you. :)
