Yes!! Yes!!! I totally agree with your vivarium sizes! Most people keep them in much smaller enclosures, about 40 cm tall, 25 cm wide, but I say at least 60cm tall! I like 90cm tall, 60 wide.

I got a baby crested gecko when it was 2 weeks old and I tamed him in 3 days!! If you buy a crested gecko and they are used to eating live food then they need it in their diet but if it is a baby or has never had live food then it isn’t necessary for a crested gecko to have live food.
I got a baby crested gecko about 10 months ago and he hasn't grown I feed him every other day and a worm or cricket once a month why is he not growing?
What food is he on? And one cricket a month isn't really enough, try giving him 5 or 6. Make sure his heating is right and that the humidity is good. If he stays so small take him to the vet. He could be sick, as many illnesses in cresties cause stunted growth. Hope this helps x

Alyssa Pruitt their slower then all heck to grow up. How big is the tank to body size of snout tip to tail tip maybe your cage needs to go from a 5 to a 10 gallon tank. Also try going to Petco and get calci/Phoenix/black soldier fly worms their packed with tons of calcium and protein with a medium soft shell so 3 of those a week of the little stinky bugs may help your grow a bit more. Trust your instincts with yours if he's eating but not growing don't panic only panic when weight loss starts. Also do bugs 2 times a month.

Oh these replies are all over the place. 😂 What size gecko? They need different sizes depending on their size/age. An adult can live in a large plastic tub, 12x12x18, 18x18x24, 20 gallon, depends what you want to provide and how big the gecko is. Be careful not to put a hatchling in too big a cage, I keep mine in plastic shoeboxes until about 7 grams.

Just a really dumb question, I've grown up mostly with frogs and more fragile skinned animals and such, do I need wet hands to hold a gecko? Do certain oils or perfumes or such hurt geckos if they are on my skin? And do they have a reactive respiratory system like rats do? Sommer Luttrell Depending on the room temperature they may or may not need supplemental heating. Generally during the day they can live at room temperature (70-75f) (80 MAX) and at night they can tolerate a drop to about 65 but I wouldn't go any lower than that. So generally they'll be alright with consistent room temperatures but if your house gets chilly in winter I would get a infrared heat emitter to maintain a temperature between 70-75 during the day and let it drop during the night. Along with humidity in between 70-80, higher when they're suspected to shed. Crested geckos can survive on just CGD depending on what they contain, it's best to get ones that contain Calcium and D3 or supplement with those if you purchase a food without. Feeding strictly insects isn't recommended because it could make them a bit chubby but feeding them 3-4 crickets once a week is beneficial. Hope this helps!!

Got him from Jaws And Claws Reptiles. He didn’t have a tail when i bought him but i love him nonetheless. I need to get more plants in the future. Luv my baby. Btw he is a year old.
the other night i walked into my room about 9 pm to my crestie on the floor of his container (repti-carpet). i have a ton of cork on the floor even though i knew he probably wouldn’t use it. i got really worried because i thought he was hurt/sick because they usually aren’t on the floor and he’s only about 2-3 months old. i left him alone and came back every 5 minutes and he’d be in a different spot. i then realized he appeared to be stalking something, so i figured he must be trying to hunt. my dad, a wildlife biologist, agreed. just to test if i was right i found a smallish cricket from outside and threw it in his enclosure. (there wasn’t actually any bugs in his enclosure, i had thought he was too young to eat them at that point) anyway, as soon as it crawled into the cork and vines on the ground he grabbed it and started chewing it. i was so happy and proud oml i felt like a mom who’s baby like are for the first time but yea. so i guess the lesson here is that if your gecko is on the floor it may not be because of him being sick/injured, but that he was hunting. (also just to be clear so no one thinks i’m neglecting him of food i fed him pangea a few hours before and put it in for him) sorry for the long paragraph, but if your crestie is on the floor he could be searching for insects or may be hungry

Have you tried feeding by hand? I hand fed mine every day because I didn't want him to grow up weak. Also a few feed crickets every month - calcium dusted of course.

I know im a bit late but, i need tips on taming my male crested gecko he's crazy i dont even have to touch him to make him freak out and btw he was like this when i got him from a breeder at a reptile expo .He is also housed in his own enclosure as i also have a female crested gecko who is really tame and barely tries to jump. so if anyone has tips on taming him pls comment down below

You talked about not useing brand a like repashy or pangea with a uvb as they already contain d3. If i were to install a uvb light will i have to swich the diet to one with out the supplement??

They’re definitely leopard geckos. The two species look very similar, but AFTs usually have a stripe down the back. Don’t trust pet stores

Have you tried feeding by hand? I hand fed mine every day because I didn't want him to grow up weak. Also a few feed crickets every month - calcium dusted of course.
