    Learn how to create a Kaleidoscope in Photoshop. Video includes tips for a shortcut for copying and rotating a layer. You can use any photo or image to make this kaleidoscope - you will see how to cut the piece out to use and then how to flip it and rotate it to make an awesome kaleidoscope - no extra software required - it's all done inside Photoshop. The same process will work just fine in Photoshop Elements too.

    When i went to expand the background using the crop tool, it showed the full rectangular image not the triangle that I had moved out of the frame. Does anyone know how to make sure it stays a triangle

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lily, I wonder if you did the crop at 2:22. Check the video again at this point and make sure you do the Image > Crop BEFORE you try to expand the background. If you don't do this you will have the full rectangle and it won't work.
      If you did this correctly and it still didn't work, please let me know? I just checked it in Photoshop 2020 for you and it all works just fine for me so it should work for you in any version of Photoshop.

    This is a GREAT tutorial. Just what I was looking for.
    I follow everything step-by-step, however, I keep getting a small gap between the wedges. Unfortunately, when I rotate, the pieces never seem to match up perfectly. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there an easy solution?

    Whoa, I never knew the cmd-opt-shift-T shortcut o.O

    Control Shift Alt T didn't work for me. It just moved one copy of it.

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Control Shift Alt T keyboard shortcut repeats the last thing that you did. There’s a really good chance that what you did after you did the rotation was that you moved the shape. So the keyboard shortcut is just repeating what you did. You may want to try this again. Do your rotation and then immediately try the shortcut. Let me know if you still have problems.

    • @PulpFictionized
      @PulpFictionized 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay thanks. I know the problem now. It won't let me select both layers at the same time. Like at 3:46 . It only lets me select one

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, I didn't see your reply (settings on the video are wrong and I've fixed them now so it won't happen again!). To select a layer, click on it, then Shift + Click on another layer to select it and continue to do so until you have them all selected. Let me know if you have problems.

    Hi Helen, thanks for the tutorial :-) I've tried to do this n number of times, but no matter what, I get a gap and my triangles do not line up. I have no clue where I am going wrong. Do you have any pointers?
    Does the command CMD+OPT+SHIFT work on smart objects?
    Thank you :-)

    I'm tripping balls just watching it. I have a better question... how does the brain produce these patterns? Maybe the brain is actually a computer. My brain is a photoshop 1000.0. It creates, manipulates images, has surround sound, produces geometric shapes, ect. Just something to think about!
