- When Ed was a K9 Handler for the sheriff’s department, he was always concerned about contaminating his training aids. When Ed's finds were hid, he worried that his dog would associate his or another handler's odor with the training aids.
To eliminate those concerns, Ed constantly used different containers to hold scented items. He also chose containers that were easily sterilized.
This same concept can be applied to scent work or Nosework competitors. Trainers can use different styles or colors of scent tins on different days or for different dogs. Then, put them through the dish washer after training.
