Nice video. This definitely reminds five point someone book. Most of the situations mentioned in the book were not about engineering, its about how people help you out in some tough situations. Prof. Veera character in the novel is the great example.
Today I heard completely the long talk No 1,2 and 3 in a row. Kudos for your open approach to life. I am a banker by profession and completed 34 years in Banking and a successful banker to say. Many funda I applied what you had mentioned as I am 10 years older to you Chetan. Again the rural posting in State Bank and Semi Urban posting in Pvt Sector Bank really helped in understanding our down trodden people who are genuine and capable guys. Opportunity are less for them. I was one among them and hence I was popular with them. Lots of learning in smaller places as it was very harsh life with no electricity, no proper hotels for food, no entertainment and no intellectual person.

Chetan Sir, the key takeaway for everyone from this video is importance of taking part in extracurricular activities in schools and colleges and the 'People Connect' in every success story. I didn't realise this much growing up but looking back, I can vouch for this as, the primary reason for me sitting in London today is not because I was the brightest kid in the lot but because I had a way of working with people which magnified the outcome of my endeavours manifold. I am still learning this everyday..
I got goosebumps when you said how that packaging machine got fixed by that supervisor, but really got to learn that apart from academics there are certain things which we must learn to achieve success in life. Though I am not from IIT but from a simple govt engineering college and I could relate it so well with my life in the engineering college.I still keep thinking why we need to read all the subjects like physics. Chemistry etc again in first year of engineering. Hostel life is indeed the best part of one’s time at engineering college. The camaraderie and friendship that you build with your fellow batchmates during those 4 formative years of your life prior to pursuing your profession lasts forever. Good that you mentioned about interpersonal skills. It is extremely important and that is something which many people don’t realise while in college. You get to understand the nitty gritty of it only when you start your professional career and have to deal with people all the time

Hi Chetan, I agree, IIT makes people extremely self obssessed. It is one way to take u away from your actual motto in life. I have first hand experience with one or two IIT guys where i worked at eServe. I decided the education system needs alot of improvement. In the quest of mechanical engineering the students were becoming machines. This is the precise aim of negativity. And IIT is contributing to it. I have even enlightened my own over intelligent NRI cousins about the need to move out of technical areas and crab policy if one really needs to grow. He did an MBA. Mr. Pop was my favorite those days. But it was tough to chew. The stick was made of paper and it used to stick to my teeth. But i loved it!! Everything has a place in the world. Chocolate cravings cannot be replaced with steel. And Shiva creates everything thru you. He doesn't judge if u work with SAIL or Cadbury.
