You hit it right on the nail when you said it's become premium, and this is the problem with car manufacturers these days. There are no more bare bones cars as you called this one, it's anything but. To me a bare bones car should have ABS, two airbags, power steering and aircon, and should cost no more than R150k to R180k. What wrong with manual windows. What's wrong with an after market tuner with bluetooth that you can pick up these days for a mere R500 because they no longer have CD players in them. Even the most basic entry level cars these days are just ridiculously expensive.
I bought a new Picanto a year ago. It has had vibration rattles in both door frames since delivery. Its sending me crazy. The service centre has had 2 attempts to try and fix it. Without success.... NOT HAPPY. I would not buy another Kia.
Please do Fiat 500X🙏 i love watching your videos, you’re such an interactive journalist you don’t go by the script which is so amazing xoxo from Sandton❤️
Oh I left the Kia 'family', believe me. After buying my Picanto for R135 000 (those were the days!) and driving it for 100 000km it started giving serious steering problems. R40 000 to fix the steering column (out of warranty) and then a few months later the same issue. BYE. Now with Haval (H1) second hand. 120 000km and no issues.
Your steering column (probably) needed a little part which costed R30 a few years ago, but to fit it would cost 3k labour if you found the right agents who would manage to diagnose what needed replacing. It's a common Kia/Hyundai problem but often the technicians and agents are useless or try to rip you off. In your case I'm guessing they replaced all of the steering column but the actual problem part.
I remember looking at the 1.2 when it still had that 'Gunston Yellow' colour... back then it was one of the few small cars that looked inside like something far more luxurious... the prices however were less convincing. Funny though, I think if it had a 1400cc at least it would have been more of a no-brainer for me back then. We still don't get this in the 1.0t... which will probably be a completely stupid price when landed in SA.
great review as always. We would love a review for the Kia Sorento 2024 facelift, with a direct comparison to the PALISADE 2024 that would be a great watch

You make a good point. I think Suzuki offers this kind of car to an extent.
Took the words right out of my face... there isn't new budget practical cars anymore you forced to go to the used market.
Consumer demand is the culprit. Manufacturers follow buyer trends.
Juliet I love your enthusiasm In the videos ❤I always look forward to seeing what you are driving next as always Thanks For The Ride 😍❤❤❤
Yay, thank you for such a wonderful comment!
Sadly the picanto has out-priced itself compared to Suzuki. Nice car but not competitive anymore.
VW bring back the Up NOW!
So tell us:
Picanto 1.2 top spec at R360's, or Swift 1.2 at R265K ?
R100k difference 😯😅
Pic one 👉😉😅
Please tell us ✨

Juliet, would you recommend the Kia Picanto over the Suzuki Swift?
I'm also waiting for this answer! 😀The Swift looks more grown up, but it does feel a bit cheap in there...
Great review . Longer 10 minute format is spot on 🎉
With Suzuki, you get more car for much less and, at N1 City, you get 10 year 1 million km warranty thrown in.
Love your reviews ❤
Ahhh thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think a suzuki swift is much better value for money compared to the new picanto. A top of the range swift runs you abount 270k
whats the top range?
Ja the music came a bit late ne?
You are what the Scots colloquially call "a real nutter". Don't ever stop.
For the same money get yourself a Suzuki Baleno 1.5L?
Yes but would you enjoy having people ask you if you are their Uber driver?
@@astonwinter Hahahahahaha!
Don't care @@astonwinter
@@astonwinter I think toyota corolla is more the problem there.

I always tell Luca that some of the greatest soccer players wear the number 2, so it is still amazing hee hee
That car is so small I would confuse myself thinking I'm in a gynaecologist office
