I love how much mice love babies. I've never seen another animal (other than some humans) who are so fulfilled by being parents. Every momma mouse I've had has come out of motherhood a happier, friendlier, and more confident mouse.

Mama Elephants. Yes apart from Elephants. No species can top their parenting skills. They keep their babies with them forever so when You see a herd, You'll have the Babies, their older Sisters, Mother, Grandmother & Aunts who live as a herd for life. Elephants come for miles around to meet the new babies in the herds. It's really something very special. Even the Sons stay with Mum til they're 15. This is as long as poachers don't ruin everything.

@Se A Yes People don't often get to see what deeply nurturing & protective Mothers other animals are. I have to say though that Pachyderms (Rhino & Elephants) put Us to shame. It's like They invented the saying "It takes a village to raise a Child". Likewise the Cetaceans (dolphins, whales, porpoises etc) How amazing the way the whole community comes together to raise & protect these Babies & the Mother to Baby bonds are lifelong. The Females never leave their Mothers. Sadly most People don't understand the complex bonds that all these animals have. With the mice They get to see it because Aud has showed them with such understanding & empathy.

Most mammals are infinitely more selfless as parents compared to humans. Probably because they don't have bills to pay or any of that other stressful junk in their minds. They just got one thing to care about.

When my rat gave birth she was the opposite. Often times she would squeak for me to come over, drop her babies in my hand, then walk away to eat. She hated leaving the nest with no one watching over the babies
Dad was neutered though, so after about a week I slowly introduced him to his kids and then she stopped waking me up every hour. XD
But babies are so cute. The baby mice look almost as big as baby rats. So little.

Ok,...question...how are these little mice different than the mice that one has in their house other than the color? I am a mouse/animal lover and I am having a dickens of a time here. Have kitties in my other house, so no mice there but this house, I have a rescue pit and she doesn't get along with cats, but she ignores the mice. They are just adorable and yes, I admit I feed them cheese, cereal, peanut butter & crackers and occasionally yogurt. Athena was a black-eyed white, one of the prettiest of mouse colors :)

Why you trying to keep them from their babies? I mean why didn’t you let them take their babies? Just curious

Baby mice need to be socialized to humans from the day they are born, so they grow up confident, friendly and can lead their best lives. You have to do it for a few minutes twice a day, longer as they get older. This is how you create confident, friendly little mice who can lead their best lives.
