- Edappally Mahaganapathy Temple is the benefactor god of the Edappally Royal Family. This sanctuary is implicit the center of the forecourts of the Edappally Swaroopam (regal family). This sanctum is alluded to in the ‘Aithihya Mala’ (Garland of Legends), the work of the well-known creator of Malayalam writing, Kottarathil Sankunni.
Edapally Mahaganapathy Temple’s Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god and remover of impediments, confronts east in the sanctum. It was beleived that the god himself once appeared before the Edappally Swaroopam while performing the Ganapathy Homam and accepted the offerings.he sanctuary is open from Mon-Sun 05:00 AM to 07:30 AM. Unusually, there are confinements to going by times. Devotees are permitted into the sanctuary in the morning just between 5.00 to 7.30 AM and offer the pradakshinam. Since it is their family sanctuary, the individuals from the Edappally Royal family adore Lord Ganesha after 7.30 AM. At evenings, the sanctuary is kept open for all. The devotees can have darshan which is approximately 10 feet from the sreekovil, from the back entrance, through a window when the temple is opened in the morning (till 9.30am) and evening (5pm to 7.30pm). During Vinayaka Chathurthi, after special rituals the temple is opened at 10am - 10.30am for devotees.
By Air: Cochin (Kochi) International Airport at Nedumbassery is 25 km away from the health sciences campus. Pre-paid taxi service is available at the airport. It is approximately a 60 minute drive to reach the campus at Edapally in Ernakulam.
Railways:Railway stations are Edappally, Ernakulam North or Ernakulam Junction, depending on the train. Most trains stop at either Ernakulam North or Ernakulam Junction.
By Bus: Temple is situated very near to the National Highway no.47. Nearest stop is Edappally Church stop.
