I haven't watched an FT video in a while. For a bit, it seemed like some of the "charm" was gone and you kinda started just pumping out videos. But this one, this one has all the original goofiness and playful fun that I loved back in the day. Please keep doing these funny, off the wall builds! The last couple videos have been fantastic. I have so much respect for you folks, you've really done this hobby a major service just by being yourselves. Thank you Josh and team!
Unfortunately you need the wheels to spin backwards to create upwards magnus lift. Entirely possible, especially with the low mass of the wheels, but still a bit of a hassle
Seeing how slow this goes with two big motors made me wonder: how small of an engine can you use and still fly a plane? Sounds like a fun challenge. Teeny motor and prop on a glider? I’d love to see that!
@@CustomGamersClan I guess it was more like 15 years ago when foamies first blew up. Rcpowers was the biggest RC channel on youtube. Flite test was late to the game, but started out just when it became feasible to build a business on youtube. Now its funny to see them go through the same builds everyone else was doing back then
Dang, I have been tuning in since "Josh (experienced) and Josh (not so experienced)" was the channel. So awesome to see the growth. I gotta visit, lol.
Your creativity definitely inspires me to make my own wild creations. With foam board, a hot glue gun and a creative mind the possibilities are endless
You guys can make these prototypes in quantity and sell under your brand name....kids will love all of these unusual rc planes.....give me heart if you like this idea👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Fantastic job, Josh and guys! 😃 I want to build a rc car like you guys did with servos... I just want to find some EVA for the wheels! 😃 Stay safe there, everybody! 🖖😊
Had an idea for your Star Wars series, just finished watching your 2014 SEFF. The footage from the early AM drones, flying through the woods looks just like Endor ! Would be amazing to see you guys do a Storm Trooper on a Speeder, maybe using similar build design like the Harry Potter Broomstick. I was thinking with the design of the speeder having fins in the front, and alit more area in the rear, carbon rods/foam board for the front assembly, foam board rear chassis, and storm trooper vertical. would help a lot with stability. Love your channel, thanks for all you guys do !!
i love this channel. every video has a charm to it and these people really got me interested in this hobby. just finished my own ft simple cub with ailerons and its gonna be my first 4 channel plane.
I love it. But I do have to point out it never landed on the other side. Sooooo (technically) it didn't make the jump lol. Keep up the great work guys. One day I'll make it out there and make that jump with my Traxxas rustler 4x4 VXL.
I wanna see more Ariel firefighting using cabby or something. That would be an episode to watch. Bombing water on a little controlled fire. Please do it!
A throwback to the nutball days, pretty fun. Why does it fly so much worse than a classic nutball, though? Love the rock course, I'm much more into RC planes than cars but that course looks great.
I'd like to see you guys build a mars lander replica. Start from the descent stage and lower a rover to the surface on cables from it. It'll take two pilots to fly this one!
Love FliteTest love todays video, love just about everything you do. I want especially tell you I love your values. I wish I was younger so I could come visit and fly with you. Boil it all down I love FliteTest! P.S. Hate the man bun👀❤
For that KiwiCo air hockey, try mixing a little bit of helium with the air and you should be able to get it float a little better and be more like air hockey
It basically is an inverted channel wing plane, the propellers create an high pressure zone over the wing that reduces lifting. Moving them on the back would change that zone to a low pressure one, that would increase lift. Still great project anyway!
Well, it flies better than the average rock crawler. ;-) You might get better control by putting the elevons out on the wings, vs. on the horizontal stab.
hey @FliteTest, is it possible to put a POV camera thingy in a small version of a cockpit in an RC plane and then fly it like that? I think that would be cool.
I would love to see you guys do a Sonic all star racing transformed race with vehicles that run on land air and water. Designs from the game or anything you guys can make up on your own would be awesome. Keep up the great work.
A single wheel interaction with the wind is the magnus effect. If you reverse the wheel direction, it will produce lift. Especially with the amount of surface tension. Maybe use a trike (to prevent wheel / wheel interactions, maybe have two wheels up front, one in the back) and fly that. Would be something to see. No wings flying trike?
Are you part of the flight test team? If not then please don't worry about me and what I comment! I commented on the video for them, that they posted! If they have an issue with how I talk, they can tell me. And I just won't comment anymore. So unless you are a part of their team, please comment elsewhere! Thank you
@@chasetucker6611 umm are you dumb? This comment may be for them but remember that this is a public platform and i reserve my right to do whatever i want
Make the wheels about ½ that size and it would still roll fine and fly much easier. If you compare it to the other trucks in the video it has the biggest wheels of all.
I think you should call it a "FLUGGY," flying buggy. More like the type of vehicle than the name of this vehicle. Love the crawler course, I have my own personal course on the side of my house after clearing some woods & using massive rocks dug up tree limbs and trunks. Didn't cost any money just time and a lot of effort.
Did you ever release the 20% plans? If so where? I’d love to download them and see if me and my children can do something with it during our remaining days of quarantine.
When I saw the title, I thought you were making a flying baby buggy. But the car type is just great. You need to make a baby buggy one though. Then you could make a parachute for the baby, and drop her from the buggy.
This feels like the perfect opportunity to build a car from Rocket league and make it fly! It would be so cool to see a dominus (seems like the easiest to make flyable)
I vote that this flyer is named the T-ATV. For “True All Terrain Vehicle” since it technically goes over everything. Lol Also... Josh, I’m not sure it counts as jumping the creek if you never touch ground on the other side of the creek. 🤣
One idea, use independent motors on the wheels with airfoiled paddle tires[like sand dragters] one large motor on front I saw it in the water in the vid as well...Name= Areo phibian

Definitely agree with this sentiment!
yes
yep and i miss the old build video structure with the elevator music and index tabs
Aww man, that off-road course looks like a blast!
It does look cool
Really, I’m in the States, but I’ve always wanted to go to the uk
Totally lol
Put a motor on the wheels and use the magnus effect for additional control and lift
Electric Tides yeah that's what I thought
Unfortunately you need the wheels to spin backwards to create upwards magnus lift. Entirely possible, especially with the low mass of the wheels, but still a bit of a hassle
@@ilikeyourname4807 It might make taking off and landing a bit interesting...
Blahorga Slisk I think they might have to take it off without and turn it on in flight
It could work if you turn it on when you get off the ground, but it might pop a wheelie midair and start doing barrel rolls.
Every single time the vid cuts to Alex I expect an advert. Every time.
Yep that’s my cue to start skipping forward.
And gorillapod got a free ad.
Seeing it fall onto the water made me realize you need to make a RC car/boat/plane!

I love seeing flite test go through the same steps that hobbyists were going through 10+ years ago when foamies first blew up
if I remember correctly, they were the hobbyists that invented foamies 10+ years ago.
I bought their first foamy kit back in 2013 🤙 flite test is awesome.

Aghgagh spelling errors
That thing is awesome. Can't believe how slow you were able to fly past with that. Must be like 10 mph or something.
A race with two of those cars with fpv would be epic. part of it flying and part of it on the ground with obstacles and stuff.
Like the newer Mario Kart games? Add underwater capabilities and we're golden
Friend: shows off new RC car.
You: show him your flying RC buggy car
This is the acual flying car. Not like the electric drones they are claiming as one.

FanTAStic results, Josh (and crew!). That came a LONG way from where it started.... great video!
Excited to see what Alex and Austin will do with the next run of DriveOn!
I don't live far away and keep meaning to come check the place out! One of these weekends!
This is great I'm glad to see all of your dedication to the rc hobby as a whole! Keep it up thanks!!

There was a beginner series... few years ago but it’s a great watch
That’s super impressive! Good job guys 👍

I’d like to see you guys take up the challenge of building and flying a remote paramotor.
They didn't build one, but they have a video on one: th-cam.com/video/kMevdhSzq7A/w-d-xo.html
Nice job guys ! But I think that Peter Sripol did a better one with his flying monster truck
Yo that is epic also who wished that they made a drone that lights and drops a firework
Or is it just me???
Fun! Wing area is so small, maybe a few inches longer for stability? But successful flight

The wheels are acting like a Magnus Effect wing.
No they're not
Yes. They should have put a motor on the wheels to get lift when spinning in the air.

Chiagoziem Ogbuehi SHUT UP, IF PEOPLE LIKE YOUR CHANNEL, THEY WOULD SUBSCRIBE
The bad thing is that in order to function as a magnus, to go on the ground they would turn to one side and to fly to the opposite side.
Hey here s a suggestion for Halloween, can you probably make a giant flying jack o lantern?
