I used to live in Agar Grove decades ago now. It was cheap and a bit gritty back then and I rented a house with a couple of friends, in fact I think one of the 4 story houses to the right of the bridge was the one we rented. I worked at Kentish Town police station and before that I was at Kings Cross Rd and Caledonian Road. It has completely and utterly changed. No more drug dealing in the street (I think), no more prostitution and no more pimps. Amazing seeing how it has changed
I lived on Camden Road in 2002, it was very different to how it is now, I worked Kings Cross at the time which has seen such a dramatic change - the ladies still work the area but not in the same way.
I left Kings Cross in 2002 and went to an East London Borough Agar Grove was really grotty in the early 90’s but it was cheap. Lots of houses of multiple occupancy. Very similar to Camden Road actually. I watched as the people who couldn’t afford Chelsea but houses in Notting Hill Then Notting Hill became too expensive so they bought in Islington Then Islington became fashionable (Tony Blair effect) so they bought in money moved into Camden, then after that into Shoreditch, then Hackney now it’s Leytonstone Amazing the changes I watched. I was part of the unit that cleaned up ‘the Cross’ (Op Welwyn it was called). In the late 80’s I could never have imagined the changes that have occurred
Hi th-cam.com/video/mztD6H-hcVs/w-d-xo.html day 4 is here from earlier today, hoping to squeeze another trip to St Albans in but not sure I'll get back to Camden.
