Thank you for this first impressions, Daniel. You've pretty much nailed it before even smelling them! My Memoir sample sits between Epic and Journey. I'm a big fan of Karine Vinchon Spehner, with Overture and Myths being my favorites. On my skin, it's one of the weaker performers of house Amouage, but I quite like the easy going scent. I never got (yet) to appreciate Memo, I feel like their DNA contains leather, it's not just the names, in the same fashion its sister brand often focuses on tea & flowers accords.
Thanks so much for the comment! I’ve done some research and I also grown to know what to expect from certain houses. I also REALLY like Karine’s work, pretty much everything from her is great Amouage wise and I do agree Journey smells pretty similar in the tobacco note.
I have samples of both, I liked russian leather ok and I really liked Memoir Man. It felt like standing in a forest during the afternoon in complete solitude and silence. I really enjoyed that wormwood note as well. It's always fun to see how differently people perceive fragrances, epic man smelled like pickle brine to me 😆
Interesting you talk about signature scents - for me it’s all about the journey rather than the destination, but I could definitely see Memoir Man as an excellent candidate
If you’re still looking for a forest scent, I’ve heard Profumo Roma’s Arso is great. Coniferous forest, that is. For another type of forest, I’d love to hear your thoughts on Andy Tauer’s L’air du Alpes Suisses.
@@nathanielmoody3656 I went through 2 samples of the Tauer, very interesting and refreshing but I live in the actual Swiss Alps and the perfume smells nothing like being outside here. I was not compelled to get a bottle, Tauer has many other scents I like more. I’ll be smelling (and maybe purchasing) Arso on Saturday. I’m heading to Rome for a couple days and I’m going to the Profumum Roma boutique. On paper it seems perfect 🤩
Memoir man is the best fragrance ever made in my opinion. Yet, I didn’t care for any MEMO fragrances. Also, I’ve heard that 2 sprays of the 2 ml samples equals 1 spray of a regular bottle. So, you might want to go up to 4 sprays.
I agree with your comments. Both quite nice scents but not stunning. Of the two, Russian Leather is the more "foresty" - the pine needle, coniferous note is more pronounced at the start. The overall feeling is of a clean smelling fougere. Memoir Man is marginally more interesting because of the incense, smoke and subtle leather which I pick up almost as soon as I spray it. For a completely different forest smelling scent, perhaps try Chypre Mousse by Oriza L. Legrand.
Maybe my memoir man is different (new packaging) but it is a pleasing scent however it just doesnt last and lacks any rich power in scent. All i see about the fragrance both old and new formulations bottles are that the scent is just amazing and deep and rich and long lasting. I don't get that at all.
@@nathanielmoody3656 I now have it and I can say that LDDM has a similar vibe while still standing unique. I don’t get much leather in African Leather, to me it’s just a ton of spices (saffron has a leather vibe) and amber, very perfumy, very elegant. I like it.
@@SeldomlyOften hmm I will have to revisit it, as it was early on in my nose development that I smelled it. Definitely very ambers and heavy… As far as leathers go, Histoires de Parfum is incredible. Addictive, really, albeit challenging.

@@whankerNJ thank you for you YOUR time! ❤️
I live in the tropics . Memoir might be nice for the warmer climate. I will sample first though.
It's light enough that it might just work, let me know if you sample!

@@legoguru3000 love your image for Memoir man, I liked it too but I found it a little weak. Karin’s V S is becoming my favorite perfumer really fast.
@@SeldomlyOften thanks bro 💪

Same here, I’m way more for the wild ride and I do agree that Memoir could be a great end game fragrance (if it were a little stronger).

Yes, I like them both but I’m not completely blown away. I’ll try to get hold of a sample of your recommendation! Thanks for the comment 🙏

@@bryanryan4504 given the feedback I got, it seems Memoir Man was never really strong. Too bad because it really like the smell of it.
Memoir man is a very good and interesting fragrance. For me it's a leather scent like a brand new black leather jacket
I also get that leather feeling 🙂
❤good video ❤
You should definitely give African Leather a chance, I can recommend it wholeheartedly
I plan on getting a bottle when I find it at a decent price!
I don’t understand its comparison to LDDM. I find it to be completely different. A heavy leather that’s a bit too much for me.
