I've been to Kolkata in 2013 for 2 months, my biggest regret was not to take any notes and pictures of the food, despite the fact that I ate street food almost every day. Thanks for bringing me such good memories! A fan from Brazil.
I spent 6 weeks in Kolkata last summer and as a Turk, I can confirm that the street food there is very delicious. My favorite one was puchkas and they won't taste the same in any other Indian city!
I love that you eat like I would eat. Many of the professional travel videos you see they really hesitate on showing the host actually eating the food. But you just make me want to try that even though I hate spicy foods.
I am here in Canada for more than two years and occasionally will go to Indian Restaurants to treat my taste buds, but there is no match to the street foods. Parts of this videos was mouth watering as it awakens my taste bud for those delicacies. Missing them much! Nice Videos with honest views on good and bad!
Kolkata and it's food...specially the street food will mesmerize anyone who is a foodie and is also experimental....ghoogni chat, allo chop, phulori and beguni with muri, puchka, jhaal muri or bhel Puri, veg and non-veg cutlet, papri chat and so much more...so many never ending options on the streets of Kolkata...u will not feel like going anywhere else....
Hey Christine! I'm not a girl, nor a long time follower, but I've been addicted to watching your videos all day today and let me say how much I love them! You are providing a great service to many and please know you are appreciated. It's not much, but I did set up a monthly donation to your Patreon page simply due to the shear joy I've experienced today! I look forward to your future vlogs :D xo
+Joshua Morgan That's such a lovely comment, thank you for your support and welcome! I'm so glad you find my videos helpful. Seems like you've embarked on a monumental adventure on your channel and I want to give you and Andy a huge hug for what you're doing! I'll be rooting for you.
+GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa Aw thanks! You are very sweet. We haven't posted an update in awhile on TH-cam as the majority of our "fans" follow us on our Facebook page. And no, we unfortunately aren't taking our little guy to India any time soon. Unless we win the lottery that is!! The entire surrogacy process cost us around $60K, so no trips out of the country for us for a few years unfortunately. But now you got me wanting to go buy a lotto ticket... so I just may see you after all if I beat the odds 😜 Thanks for responding and it's so much fun to live vicariously through you on each video! xo
I'm so happy you're making videos for a moment I thought you wouldn't be back on. I was very worried because you're my favorite u-Tuber. I've seen all of your video and always look forward to seeing more from all over the world. Stay safe, happy travels, good travel to you. God's Blessings. Greetings from New York City. 🙏❤️💜💓💖💕💙💞💗💚💛💝
Kolkata Street food is the best , very less pricey and options are numerous.u will find Indian , chinese , mughal ,it's incredible. city is a must visit at least for food.
@grrrrltraveler: somewhat of a random question given the nature of your video (your videos are great by the way!). Did you take any anti-malaria medication before going to Kolkata? Not many ppl I know have been, so thought I'd ask! thanks...
Christine if you visit again, do test Arsalan's mutton Biryani, Victoria memorial roadside phuchka, sweet curd (misti doi), Rasogolla, Ghugni, fish fry/fish batter fry with mustard sauce, chicken pakoda, vegetable chop, alu chop, beguni, fuluri, Mughlai Paratha (Stuffed Indian flat bread with potatoes and veggies and kechap and chilly sauce). Contact me if you want more details.. Others are also welcome..
I love food n i love our food..actually my home town is kolkata but for job i live in delhi n when i get free time i love to watch specially bengali food u know it's keeps me happy.. thank you..(Y)
Experiencing Kolkata street foods was one of the highlights of my trip! If you loved this video, watch my Varanasi food video where I take on Pani puri and some awesome chaat: th-cam.com/video/nQ8SS-tMyfE/w-d-xo.html
yeah... GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa i am a regular guy... and that's why i loved watching u going street... that all miss.... still there's more to explore..yet how much u did was so much fantastic... !!!
Dayumm u didnt eat the best street food available in kolkata. The items such as 'chop', singhara or samosa, Gangurum' s sweets, Biryani. Rasgoola!!!Damn.. wrong volunteer eh.
hi Christine! how much was your budget going to India? (airfare, daily expenses, hotel etc etc.) I hope you'll make a vlog about it and is it safe to go there alone? 😊😊 I love your channel by the way 💜💜💜💜 more countries to travel!!
Mmmmmmm, that food looks sooooo good! I LOVE spicy food, do you think it is spicier than Thailand or not? Also, how are the prices, are they as cheap as Bangkok? I just love curry sauces, and the samosa looks delicious. Thank you for sharing this great video, Christine!
+Jay Dollarhide Thailand is spicier- chilli hot. Indian food can get hot but they're spicier in a "blended spices" way. Hot foods are still fairly balanced and is often accompanied with a calming food (like a yogurt or something) to counter the burn. I think ayurvedic beliefs must unconsciously weave into their cooking. Indian street food is cheaper; Thai street food ranges around 75 cents to $2.00. I paid 5 -30 Rs on some of those items... that's around 8 to 45 cents USD. When Srotoswini said you can survive on street food, it's cause there's a large population that does. Many laborers come from other regions for work and they don't rent apartments, but earn on average $5/day.
+GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa, thanks for letting me know! I can't wait to go there and try the food, along with the atmosphere. It looks like an amazing city.
Hi, I heard that it is easy to get stomach upset in India. Is it true? I am going to spend sometimes in Kolkata, Varanasi, Juipur, Agra, Delhi. I am worry about getting stomachache in Varanasi, Juipur and Agra. Do you think I will be ok? btw, thanks for sharing your video.
I've been to India twice. Once to Ladakh, Kashmir and to New Dehli and Jodhpur. I had diarrhoea from drinking some really delicious sweet lasse on the street. Our guide told us the lasse from that vendor was well known to the locals and there was a long queue for it. How do you eat all this street food there and NOT get diarrhoea? After my 2 day lasse-diarhoea bout, I'm so afraid to eat the street food there. I LOVE eating street food in Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Syria, Turkey, etc.
Kolkata fascinates me. Unfortunately, I was not there. He looks good at this video when I drink massala tea at it. Own production. I cooked it at half past four this afternoon. It's ten o'clock in the evening and I'm still drinking. I probably won't be able to fall asleep and watch another video by Christine Kaaloa. :-)
the volunteer ruined the trip...made her eat south indian food in kolkata...leaving behind the other street foods for which kolkata is famous.AMAZING...!!!
i am from kolkata and every bengali is fond of eating for me the best food we can is on the streets its a bit messy but that gives this a character that many restaurant lacks
I have been binge watching you its my dinner time right now and I wanna have everything you had in this video, if I ever go Kolkata I'll rewatch your video and visit that street. Much love
I am from Canada my grandparents live in Punjab, but I have planned to visit south India this winters and may be Kolkata too.Did you get a chance to go to Jaipur or Rajasthan beautiful vibrant cities.
Yes, Rasjasthan is a beautiful region also- very dessert and slightly different type of lifestyle. My favorite city was Jaisalmer, but I still haven't had a chance to visit Udaipur, which I hear is remarkable.
Yes, Canada is one of the safest western countries! The Punjab region is awesome. I only visited Amritsar but loved seeing punjabis riding around on motorbikes, etc.. A different feeling and Amritsar was very clean city. Highly recommended
Your work is INCREDIBLY professionally done, Christine! I know this must be a dumb question, but have you pursued a job with the Travel Channel? Or the Food Network, or something international like that? BBC news is hiring... I saw an ad on the television while in Thailand this week. How about NPR? I will be so happy when we get a chance to see your hard work pay off BIG TIME. It is coming. I'm sure you'll keep us informed. 💕
Good one but u missed out on many important ones. Kolkata is an absolute heaven for foodies, variety and price is unbeatable. You just need good knowledge and the zest to taste them all.
Could you expand on what you said about the bowl? My hearing sucks and the ambient noise made it so I couldn't understand you even at full volume. Something about it being biodegradable?? Thank you for these amazing videos!!
8 ปีที่แล้ว +1
+rubymimosa yes, they are made out of leaves - and they are completely bio-degradable..
I've been to Kolkata in 2013 for 2 months, my biggest regret was not to take any notes and pictures of the food, despite the fact that I ate street food almost every day. Thanks for bringing me such good memories! A fan from Brazil.
That's alright. You can do it when you visit here again ;)
I spent 6 weeks in Kolkata last summer and as a Turk, I can confirm that the street food there is very delicious. My favorite one was puchkas and they won't taste the same in any other Indian city!
