    I so hate Gov. Hogan for focusing on roads at the expense (literally) of public transit. The Subway needs to be extended to Morgan State, and the Red Line needs to be re-instated as a project.

    • @stevenkelly9731

      Driving back on 50 I was telling my wife the same thing.He's in the pockets of some road building corp to build a unessesery and unwanted expansion of a highway that will destroy a beautiful community and not eliviate traffic but add more traffic.This is the same backwards 1950s , 1960s car sprawling crap thinking that's made public transportation in the country a joke to a lot of other nations that uses and thinks ahead. Not some outdated sprawl n crawl widening car stuck road way of thinking.

      @@bennyszalecki8157 Maryland has nothing to do with light rail for DC...different jurisdiction .and state.If you are referring to the MTA Purple line ...that's all Maryland linking up to DMV Metro and not one segment of that will be in DC.

      I'm hoping for more public rail transit under Gov. Wes Moore. I've heard he's already re-approved the red line project (tho tweaking needs to be done since new development has taken some spaces of the original planned line). I'm also hoping at some point we get several more subway lines and if I dare say, bring back the street cars we lost in 1963.

    Thanks for posting. Baltimore's streetcar or light rail line is clean, efficient, safe, and cheap. You really don't need a car in Baltimore. There's a free bus for tourists that takes you to all of the city's attractions, a water taxi system, extensive bus system, and of course the small subway.

    • @jakealden2517
      @jakealden2517 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Zanda Williams There are buses all over the city. You may have to walk a little bit to get to the station, but the buses practically run all over the city.

    • @CrabMan2539
      @CrabMan2539 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's only 1 subway line and light rail line and the bus lines are awful. You'd be extremely lucky to not need a car in Baltimore. Also, having been on both the light rail and subway several times, they are not clean. 7/eleven cups (leaving drink stains) and candy wrappers are always on the floor and the seats are sometimes wet.

      It's actually the most poorly managed and underutilized transit system in the country. Other cities like Minneapolis have much better systems in place. NYC has the best however.

      @@theangrycynic4389 in the uk every major city and town has a commuter rail network. London has every rail transport system you can think of. 1. London Undeground 2. London Overground. 3. Docklands light railway 4 Tramlink 5. National Rail commuter network. 6. National Rail inter city network. All these 6 networks in london run frequent services. They cover the whole city, the suburbs, and outer counties. On the inter city network which is like the usa amtrak you can travel to destinations from london to over 300 miles away up the country to other cities and towns. We have the 3rd largest rail system in europe. I feel america is way behind on rail infrastructure compared to europe. You only have 6 hst lines in the usa. We have about 20 hst lines in the uk.

      @@zareh7740 The only HST lines I can think of are:
      - Northeast Corridor (125+ MPH)
      - Brightline (Florida, 125ish MPH)
      - The Chicago to St. Louis High(er) Speed Rail corridor (110 MPH as of June 26, 2023)
      - Brightline West (Las Vegas, NV to Ranchocoucomonga, CA; ground broke on that yesterday)

    Just goes to prove that not matter how good public transport is, people with cars will always use them. For one public transport is beneath them and the grid locked journey in a car is a blessed time inside a bubble alone where they can escape demanding families and work. A haven between work time and home time to just be alone, a small world but one that is all yours and you can do what every you want.
