"One Correction"- Median opening in Expressway only for emergency or Maintainace Not for commuters. And it should be closed by temporary barricades.

U-turns are not allowed on any expressway. That would take away all purpose of an access controlled high speed road. The median openings are placed for emergencies and in normal conditions will remain blocked with concrete blocks, only to be removed when conditions demand(such as roadworks, blockage etc.)

is it safe to take u-turn on such a high speed expressway ? a car coming from behind could ram into your car, not to forget other high speed vehicles from the opposite direction. ?
Exactly my thought. They should have a dedicated lane on each side for U turns at least, but I don't think there is going to be any such lane. But, hey, who cares about people's lives!
My thoughts are that these U-turn gaps are temporary until the civil works are completed. These gaps would be closed when it is opened for Public. Providing U turns on an expressway for public would be a disaster in making.
