  • 6SH120 Ratnik Tent Tarp Shelter System
A look at the modernization of the classic plash palatka, 6SH120. This is an excellent multipurpose shelter half for an individual. Multiple tarps can be combined to make larger shelters. The shelter features a number of built-in guylines to facilitate creating a variety of shelters, as well as webbing loops, allowing the shelter to be adapted to many environmental situations. Excellent kit.

Hi Jess from Russia! A little information for you : In Russia it is literally called as a "universal shelter (cover)". The first (old) "universal shelter (cover)" most likely was part of a set of combat equipment of the soldier 6B30 "Barmitsa", 6B38 "Barmitsa-M1" and 6B49 "Permyachka-M", and rather produced in 2011-2012. "Barmitsa" is the first generation of a set of combat equipment of a soldier. The "Ratnik" kit is the next stage in the development of the "Barmitsa" kit. The "universal shelter" 6SH120 from the set of combat equipment 6B52 combat equipment "Ratnik", most likely produced in 2014-2015. Unlike the shelter from the 6B38 kit, the shelter 6SH120 has an extract from the operating manual on the inside of the cover bag. Shelter from the 6B38 kit does not have an index, shelter from the "Ratnik" kit has index 6SH120. The "Ratnik" kit is constantly being developed. The kit includes a total of more than 150 items. "Ratnik" in translation from Russian is a "warrior", what were they called in ancient Russia. Good luck and success to your channel! Cheers!

Thank you very much, my friend! I appreciate the information! Its quite fascinating seeing the refinements between the shelters. At first, I was disappointed that the cords had been relocated, as it changed what I had in mind for a shelter setup. But then I realized that it had been done for a specific reason and offered improved performance. Thank you again! Cheers

I have a few different types of military shelters out here in Australia. I join them together and use trekking poles to camp in. But never forget a light mosquito net out here. The mossies will carry you away otherwise. Great video mate.👍

By the way it is the shelter of a medic, because it can be a stretcher. you can also make a hammock, its very durable, but also very heavy. Ratnik tarp have a similar weight, but 3,5 x 2,5 meters and a little smaller in the bag

A very useful and versatile piece of equipment. I've always liked equipment that can serve a variety of functions in short term conditions. As a shelter, the setup is fast and easy to erect and terrific for a variety of weather conditions. A few of these would be perfect for a hunting trip. Not only can it provide shelter but it can be used to hoist or carry game if needed. An awesome review brother!🤙

Thanks Brother! I was unsure about it when I first came across them, as I was really favoring canvas at the time for it’s durability, but I have not been disappointed with these. I got mine from RCC a few weeks ago and have been wondering about the differences, even asked them about it before I bought one. They told me there are different contractors and changes (improvements) can be made during production as long as it meets original specification. You actually made me realize a few I missed initially which I appreciate. Modern tents are great but nothing beats a shelter like 6sh120 for its versatility. It's a solid piece and fits really well in one of my Russian backpacks, I just need to get it out in the field now.

Thanks brother. I spent a couple days in the woods awhile back and had a USGI shelter half, old canvas pup tent. I was in a spot where couldn’t really use a fire. It got cold, but ended up walking across a couple old poly tarps all ripped up and half buried in mud. Made a tepee with them. Considering the average Russian squad has 6 dismounts and 2 crew men for the BMP/BTR, if all the dismounts have one of these a 2-3-3 sleeping arrangement makes sense. Ofc in reality you'd want two guys on sentry duty, so really it's 2-2-2.

The newer tarp has the seams waterproofed with a tape over them. It's good, but the straps are visible. That type of band is also usually visible in optics that produce monochromatic colors. It would have been smarter to seal the seams from the inside. How do you get hold of the slightly older, darker version?
