Sir thank you for the informative video. I have just started learning. I roughly understand what you have said. My question is why did you put a zener diode? I see that you have already placed a Resistor to drop the voltage to 24v. So based on my little knowledge, the resistor will become break when it goes beyond the 24v.
So what drops all the volts is the series resistor and not the zener itself. This is a nice circuit to use in DIY projects. Nice explanation as always. Thank you! 😊
Hi, sir i would like to ask you about this : could we substitute ss8050 & ss8550 to s8050 & s8550 and vise versa because we can't find the same transistor code.....?
وعليكم السلام ورحمه الله وبركاته Thank you brother Haseeb for the good info. I was just wondering how can we replace a Zener diode with a 5v regulator for example. Will be there a common Ground GND?
yes we can, but in this condition IC cannot determine UVLO thersholds, so it will not able to able to adjust duty cycle properly and the protection will not work moreover if it is used for permanent work, it will consume current above 20mAmp, so it will dissipate power all the time, then you have to select high wattage resistance and the soft start will not work, the ic will start in quick mode, that will decrease the converter's life and the power rail components will expire soon due to frequent surges
Don’t you also need about 21mA through the Zener that is required by the Zener to keep it’s voltage regulation? If so, wouldn’t that require a current of about 31 mA through the resistor?
Sir, I want to ask about again atx smps power supply, yesterday green cable show me 0,44 volt, today I see green cable show me 3.10 volt and purple cable show me 5.1 volt but the power supply no work, no start, why? and where is the problem? Do you have any idea? Thank you.
If a simple resistor would be used in place of the zener, then a voltage divider needs to be calculated taking the paralleled load (the connected IC) into account. As the load current (in function of time) is not a constant, this would generate a non constant and load dependent changing voltage
Thanks for the video But you calculated resistor for 10mA current Ir, then again the current will divide Iz and Iload (Ir=Iz+Iload), then load will not get 10mA current (Iload=Ir-Iz), right..???

Explanation is always beyond expectations 👍.Sir I have sent you a small circuit diagram on your WhatsApp, to clear my doubts, please do needful.
Sir, the 10ma going through the load. How can you assume it is going through the zenor diode?
it works as shunt regulator, it regulates the voltage across its junction, the load current is considered as zener current
Excellent thanks for sharing this information
All The Best
Hi.
I believe that R must be:
R = (V - Vz) / (Iz + I load)
because both the Zener diode and load are draining current via R.
Am I correct?
Tank you ! Can I use this type of circuit to supply vcc permanently to an IC, like uc3842, not just for start up?
yes we can, but in this condition IC cannot determine UVLO thersholds, so it will not able to able to adjust duty cycle properly
and the protection will not work
moreover if it is used for permanent work, it will consume current above 20mAmp, so it will dissipate power all the time, then you have to select high wattage resistance
and
the soft start will not work, the ic will start in quick mode, that will decrease the converter's life
and the power rail components will expire soon due to frequent surges
@@HaseebElectronics My sincerest thankful; extremelly good and technical explanation.

first we need to know the knee current of zener and required current
finally we can select the zener as per our requirement
@@HaseebElectronics Thank you for taking the time to respond to the many questions you get. You are a real gentleman.

good tutorial sir ,which app are you using for caliculator ?
it is Hyper Scientific Calculator fro google playstore
Hello, does it become a voltage divider ? why a zener and not a simple resistor ?
If a simple resistor would be used in place of the zener, then a voltage divider needs to be calculated taking the paralleled load (the connected IC) into account. As the load current (in function of time) is not a constant, this would generate a non constant and load dependent changing voltage

you are right,
it is a continuation video to video number 386, to calculate startup resistor and its next video is 403 for loading effect
