I'm glad that, as with all your videos, you have the lighting behind you in the right position. 😊
It sometimes takes a few runs to get the video to come out right. Glad you enjoyed it 👍 😀
Don’t want to dwell on the tragic events at Violet Town, I was Electrical Fitter Wangaratta and was called to attend the collision, it was a shocking scene, my job was to check points and signals at the Violet Town Loop. It was was obvious the points on the UP end had been run through. The scene is still vivid in my mind today.
A terrible event that happened that day. Something we hope will never happen again. 👍
As a Violet Townian, love this video and the Euroa to VT one also. Looked forward to see the return trips.
In fact ALL your videos are rippers mate - love em 👍👍👍
Lived in Benalla a few years ago, loved sitting next to the lake and watching trains pass along the bridge
I do love crossing the bridges and viaducts. There is something about it that make you feel important like "This was built just for trains. No river is going to stop us!"
I think I may have an over developed sense of ego.🧐
00:40 on the right is the up end former SG crossing loop.(if my memory serves me correctly.1:48 is down end of former loop.
Good video as always. Surprised you didn’t mention the infamous Southern Aurora crash of 1969 at Violet Town.
Glad you enjoyed the video 👍 I thought about it but decided to just mention happier things. 👍😊
remember catching the train to Benalla to see my grandmother who live in benson street many moons ago .,question and V-Line does not mind you taking us for the ride ?????
That foot-crossing at Violet Town looks like an accident waiting to happen!
Really enjoying your videos :) Are you doing the whole line up to Albury?
Thank you. Yes the video will go right through to Albury. Glad to hear you are enjoying them 👍 🙂
Do you know why the speed limit on this run is reduced to 130km/h? It seems that the long straight runs are perfect for top speed.
it has always been 130kmh.. never been able to go higher then 130kmh, XPT does the same thing
The tracks here were originally built for freight locos reaching speeds of up to 115kmph, while velocities can travel at up to 130kmph. The tracks would need maintenance for the train to safely maintain 160kmph without issues. Yeah it does suck that they can’t go faster on such a flat, straight, and high demand route.
As per the other replies, it was never faster than 130kph as the xpt speed. To upgrade to 160kph would require a number of safety system upgrades and changes to line side systems. Not a simple and quick change. Maybe one day but I wouldn't put money on it. 👍😊
When you say (site of), do you mean former site or future site?
I thought there was a 100kph speed restriction for the Vlocity train sets on the NE line. Has that been lifted?
Thanks for sharing. Brings back memories when stationed at Wodonga Depot.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it and brought back memories 😊 👍
