    my Polish mate bought 2001 Seat Arosa (twin brother of this VW Lupo) when he arrived in the UK back in 2015. It was a great laugh when he selected reverse instead of 1st at the set of traffic lights (not used to RHD). We called it ''THE WILDBOAR'' because of the fun we had on flooded country roads around South Wales.

    Aw, one of the best examples of someone's pride and joy. The yellow paint on metal interior is so retro, so refreshing. And you can keep it in a cupboard. I know it doesn't make sense for business, but someone will love it and want to save it. And no, I don't want to buy it. I'm just too old.

    I’m quite upto date with the lupo scene. These cars are slowly going up in value. What reason I don’t know, but you’ve done quite well at £500. The alloy wheels are lupo sport wheels. The automatic box is a little less desirable but definitely appeals to the specific kind. They’re common for rotting on the arches, rear pop out windows was an optional extra also. Electric windows was an option too.

    The 1.4 engine looks like the same lump found in Audi A2s of the period. They feel quite chirpy for a 74bhp lump although there is nothing beyond 5,000 rpm and, arguably, not much before 5,000 rpm either.

  • @jon_273
    @jon_273 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +28

    It’s an S spec so comes with electric front windows, rear pop-out windows and central locking. The alloy wheels were an option. Also for your (and my) OCD the rear mats are in the wrong footwells and the tray in the spare wheel is upside down. We have had 5 Lupo’s in my family and still have a TDI which I bought in 2007 so I know them well. I hope someone saves it as it doesn’t look rusty at all!

Save the planet, keep the one you have, clean, dont throw everything away all the time. It is a generational thing, older folk naturally care about the environment. Haha. I had a Lupo 1.7sdi for my 3rd first car😂 and honestly I must’ve done 20k on it, mostly at full throttle because it was gutless. It was unbelievably economical even at max speed which wasn’t 3 digits. Had windy windows, tape deck, CD player. Always started even way below 0° and never let me down. It was on 260k, and it’s 4th timing belt when I sold it for £250 after crashing it into a farmers field! Those were the days.

    It’s a shame about that. Sell it spares or repair £500 at it’ll go easy. I bought one over your way for my daughter to learn to drive in,it was the same colour but a 1.0 manual . It was brilliant and she loved it .

    I love when people keep their cars clean. I just bought a new car. When I deliver my old car to the dealership it'll be clean. Many people will say that I'm a idiot. However I see it as respect for the dealership, from who I demand respect.

    I passed my driving test quite late for a lad 21. My grandad was still alive at the time and was obsessed with cars but more importantly getting a bargain. He knew someone who was getting rid of one of these cheap and arranged for me to go and see it for it to potentially be my first car. I just agreed to keep him happy without even having a clue at one looked like. When I turned up with him to look at it as soon as I put my eyes on it I knew there was no way I was gonna buy it. I think it was only a year old and had hardly any milage on it but the chap only wanted about £4k for it. It was an absolute bargain but there was no way I was gonna be seen dead in it. My grandad was that pissed off with me for not buying it and thought it was that much of a bargain too good to miss he offered to buy it for me! And I still turned it down. This car was that awful to look at that I couldn't even stomach driving one of it was given to me for free! Lol.

    That 1,4 mpi is bulletproof engine. In my town there are many golf 5 + with lpg conversion as a taxies, and they got 700-800K KM without any major issues. Yes it is slow, but it is very reliable engine.

    a lupo had been my dream car for ages and ages (bare in mind i’m 19 so don’t have too big dreams hahah) and i finally got one in August, unfortunately not banana yellow but the beautiful light blue. it is a shame to see these coming off the roads, i get all giddy when i see a fellow lupo on the roads so i really do hope someone takes this up as a project! but if not may it provide spares to all the lupo lovers up and down the nation 😂
    mine’s 2003 with 89,000 miles and no advisories, has had issues with the exhaust in the past though so it must be common 😬

    Back in like 2003. here in Croatia there was a bingo show on tv and they where giving these out like candy through a scratch board game. 2 shows a week, 2 cars a week given to the public from our capitol city Zagreb. That went on for like a year or something so in the end there where shitloads of them on our streets in blue, yellow or red. Still see them from time to time.

    This is the same power train as our 02 Fabia Mk1 1.4 Automatic was. It cost a lot to tax as you've found out. It drank fuel as well, and used a fair bit of oil. Otherwise it was quite a nice car. We scrapped it four years ago.

    So Matt doesn't wear rose tinted specs, as commonly thought. My Dad had a pair of yellow tinted accessory specs in the 70s - they were sold on the theory that German pilots in WW2 used similar ones to improve night vision. Hope someone takes the Lupo on as a project.Surprised it even has power steering for a car so old/small.
