Before you replace the motor you need to be aware that there are two other common faults: 1. Water ingress into the plug that connects to the actuator module can cause corrosion if the connectors. This should be easy to identify. 2. The button behind the rubber press is glued in. After a period of time the glue gets brittle and the button gets pushed into the assembly. This can easily be re positioned and glued back. From the description you give point 1 is most likely.

@elhovonews Before you spend your money though, remove the motor, as illustrated in the video, and test it using a P3 9v battery - a couple of safety pins is a simple way of getting getting power to the electrical contacts inside the motor . Hope this helps.

Hello, great video. I opened mine and the small resistor on the right hand side of the motor is missing. Do you know the spec of that resistor?

Hey, you showed long time ago how to fix the tailgate lock, I've followed all your instructions but mine is still not working. However, I saw a something interesting in your video, which might be a missing component, you can see that in the picture

No this is not intended for use with the VX Insignia but by coincidence I have just got rid of a 59 plate Insignia Sports Tourer which had a faulty tailgate motor twice in the three years I had it. The first time it was repaired by the garage and I do not know what they did to repair it. Three months later it happened again; the tailgate failed to open. When I phoned the garage they suggested it was a known software glitch and I should disconnect the battery, The fault disapeared on its own.

I am having issues with my Astra hatch. It is very sporadic. Before sometimes it would open and sometimes it wouldnt. I thought maybe a connection was loose but then one weekend I had the car parked and open the trunk probably 30 times. Then all of a sudden it stopped working. I have not been able to open the trunk since. Is it most likely this motor that needs to replaced?

Central locking is a pain in the #$%^ when it becomes faulty. Why did car makers introduce it ? Did they think they were doing motorists a favour?
It only took a couple of seconds to lock and unlock the doors before central locking was introduced,
Do car makers think that we are a bunch of lazy !@#$%^&* ?
These locking systems only serve to up the price of a car.
And when problems arise, the motorist has to run up a hefty bill at a garage for an unnecessary gadget that is not easy to replace.
