Great video! One piece of advice though: try to let the other person do most of the talking. There were several times where it seemed you interjected when he was going to say more about his business and while there's nothing wrong with you sharing an opinion, the video is more about him and his business, so he should do most of the talking.
Its an edited video, pretty hard to judge his entire conversation- unlesss you were there imo
@@ericj3331he always cuts people off. Not just this video. Caleb is extremely obsessed with himself....
Listen to how he is always saying " yeah and uh-huh " thats just plain disrespectful. He just wants to hear himself talk.
@@adammonahan687guy is a trash talker and got three hearts from Caleb already 😂 it’s hilarious
@@ericj3331 That's fair I guess. Then I guess my criticism would then be geared to Riff for not making the video more geared to the owner. But honestly, it just seemed like Caleb wanted to interject when he had something to say, which in a video like this, isn't ideal in my opinion. We see Caleb every video, but this guy and his business only gets this one chance to talk numbers and showcase what his store is about. Liked the video, just my minor criticism to make it better going forward
Bro at lease put the guys TH-cam channel in the description
I stopped in the Swap Shop on a whim earlier this year, and found it had some of the best selection and prices for retro games anywhere in the local area... I can easily say the owners are really nice people who will cut you a fair deal, and I've pretty much never walked out of there empty handed. Gabe and Shane are awesome! I'd been looking forward to this video ever since Shane told me you stopped by!
Awesome! What state is this located in?
@@thatblondebassist6021Frankfort, Kentucky
No you didn't
This really opened my eyes to the financial difficulties of owning even a small business like this one.
Definitely. It’s damn near impossible.
@@familymovies3327Yeah, it's just not feasible. In my towns, none of these small businesses last more than a year or two. And I really feel the people trying to break free and be self employed but just no business sense. My family has ran our construction business out of our house for 24 years because of this. In reality, we should have bought property 10-15 years ago and be way rightside up. BUT, the overhead takes a bite out of your profit. That and there is no real benefit on our end unless we hired subcontractors. Doesn't bother me to have 1 or 2 employees show up at my house for work. But if I had crews coming by, I would want a shop.
It’s very Caleb-like when the shop owner is answering questions you completely cut him off and move on to the next topic before he can even finish. Did you take too much adderall or some nose beers before going in there? 😂
Caleb just seems very full of himself lmao
what ! i though Adderall helps you focus !
His store is super cool. Seems like he might need to focus more on areas. Noticed he had like single graded comics but he isn’t really a comic store, also noticed a couple of guitars in the background, and some random antiques. I would maybe market my store as “guns and games” and really double down on the two sides of the business. I think that would be really cool.
Love seeing the genuine behind the works of setting up businesses video game related especially. The bills that need paying, the customer relations, the money maker deals even how it impacts relationships owners may have going on
I love these and also love how you support local businesses too. I know you sell online hut still help mom and po shops👍👍
I enjoy these type of episodes. It is always good to see multiple business models and see what works.
I love these kind of videos. I love seeing the stories and people behind the stores.
Love this style of content! That amiibo deal at the end was 🤯Love learning about these small businesses and seeing how they run.
Love this kind of video! Definitely want to see more collab videos with this specific shop 🙏
Finding that GameCube kiosk at a garage sale for $200 is dream 🔥
Keep dropping these type of videos please bro! I enjoy listening to the business side of things
Really enjoy this side of making deals / seeing kinda behind the scenes of different stores.
Awesome video! That dude is so chill and I would like to go to his store and see all those weird items he has.
To be honest, I've been watching your vids from the start and must say that these are the videos we retro gamers are always waiting for! To be honest Caleb, I really feel that the more of these videos you do it will really help the channel. Keep up the good work 👍
Getting to know other sellers and business-people is awesome to learn from multiple different angles for different areas and whatnot, all of these videos are going in my playlist for doing it myself.
The best part about all video game stores is the customers they have. They vary by region and each store is uniquely different as well. Keep doing these types of videos to showcase a large community of gamers.
As a new store owner myself, I love these videos. I'm finally slowing down from the newness of everything and coming into a rhythm. That said, I love hearing other's stories and adding their knowledge and experiences to use myself!
love this style. Ive always wanted to open my own shop also. Nice to hear some of the costs and inner workings.
I really enjoy these videos - it is a great way to learn about other locations that I might not have been aware of. It also gives some perspective on the business as a whole. As a consumer may of us probably assume that the business is doing well if it is still open - you don't really account for overhead or other expenses. The fact you can trade video games for guns is wild.
As someone that wants to open up a retro game store in Scotland (a place that has less interest in retro games) this has made me see sense 😂
Much love from an American who is part Scottish 🏴🙏🏻
Great video. I like this style with the game shops being featured.
I love the video game store videos! Don’t know if it’s too much of a drive, but the best video game store I’ve ever been to is Replays Gameware in Muscle Shoals, AL. Husband & wife team that are genuinely some of the nicest people I’ve ever met!
Man I like this type of content as much as I like all the other type of videos you do. Just keep doing what you do and I believe everyone that is following you right now, will keep following ;)
Honestly, these videos are some of your best along with the convention and Mission Switch videos. Would love to see more!
I really enjoy the interview/store deep dives. I say keep em coming.
Love this video! Good luck on the store!
Great video! I love this kind of content from you!
Awesome content and inside into other people’s business! Would love to see more
These videos are really good and would be interesting to watch every once in a while.
This was very insightful, thank you :)
I complained last video of this type because it felt like an advert for the shop but this is awesome great insight into the business.
Nice seeing The Swap Shop featured on the channel. I've been in a few times and always enjoy browsing the selection.
I love these kind of videos Caleb! Im sure its a solid thing for the shop to@
Really enjoyed the interview format.
This was a really interesting video. It gave some good insight into what it's like to be a business owner
I went to a "game store" in Maryland.... I think.... and it was 50% diesel mechanic and accessories shop and the other 50% was a retro game store. Definitely up there on the oddness scale!
7:54 that’s hilarious. Dude telling a serious story and the other looking for games
Haha it is amazing
Own a 24hr gym currently and looking to buy a retro game store and been building my own collection to open a store. Live near Cincinnati Ohio. Love the content!
That pitching machine brings back soo many memories from my childhood!
Like it, great insight into the reality and work it takes to create a business like this. not easy
Love the small business side of things please do more!
Yes more of these videos. I like the inside glimpses of places around the country. Connecting through love of video games........and M😅ney 💰
cool video. being in a town of only 28k people is gonna be tough along with the location. the overhead of 8k is way too high and spending 2k on advertising is insane...(ive been in business over 30 yrs)
Very unique store and good video. I like these videos to help your channel and the business owners
Love it these are some of my favorite videos to watch ❤❤❤❤❤
14:45 the Silent Hill 2 doesn't match, the disc is Platinum Hits but the case is black label.
I like this. I like video games and I like business, mix the two and you got yourself enjoyable content.
these videos are the best. hope the swap shop has continued success.
Have not watched for a while its great to see new content
4:16 Gotta say man GOATED for having Asuna’s sword on the wall
Not sure how much you’re willing to travel but “complete in box” in Ephrata, PA. Is a really cool old game store. Bunch of arcade machines to play, usually have mario kart or super smash set up to play. A lot of comic books, funkos, other rare collectibles , and locally made crafts.
Great video! And what an interesting store!
Does he bundle duck hunt with every rifle sold.
I like the part where you mentioned “American Pickers” and he used an image of Rick from “Pawn Stars” nice job Riff 😂
Hey Caleb, great video!
I just opened up my family owned video game store, Gaming Therapy, in Holland, Michigan this weekend. I would love for you to come visit!
I can also suggest a few other unique gaming stores in the area for you to work into your video.
Riff, I know you are actually in charge there. Can you make this happen in the Spring? 😉
Great video Caleb keep making them!
I thought this was a great video and would love to see more. It's something so different from what other TH-camrs are doing. So I'm all for more like this.
That's completely an american style store, could never imagine a store which sells fire guns and videogames and silver at the same time in my home country lol
Props to the owner to recognize his local community behaviour! Very interesting overlaps which many would probably not see.
i like that style for sure big upps!!
I love these types of videos nothing nicer than zoning out watching your videos while I have screaming kids running around
Great video. Thanks.
def my favorite type of videos of yours
Enjoyed this type of video!
hey this was a cool episode, never seen either of your channels. looks like a cool shop.
Ah yes, the 127 yard sale. I remember going every year all day long with my parents. Haven't been in years though.
More of this stuff please!
Love this style of video !
This style of content is my favorite in this genre. While you are usually the focus of content. You should let the person your interviewing complete their thoughts. I'd still be interested if the video were longer to include the nuggets that the owners have on the business side. Keep up the good work!
Love this style of videos
Let's goo he posted 🤌
I just opened my shop in Middlesboro KY 3 weeks ago. I can say it is difficult but viable.
*Hell yeah, wish this guy's store was near me. Love the 2A* 😎
He said American Pickers but you flashed Pawn Stars 😂
I hope his store goes well!
Love this style of video!! It’s my fav
Can you make an in depth video on how to sell games Amazon? The whole process from beginning to end.
Hope this dude and his company succeed
Love this content!
This style of video is great!
lol at not knowing any of the most famous nintendo characters ever as amiibo lol
That guy in red is called Mario, Orange girl is called Inkling Girl, The blue turtle is called Squirtle. The orange dragon thing is Charizard, The green cartoony dinosaur thing is Yoshi. Do I really need to keep going.
Great video buddy 👍
Love them great keep them coming
This is defenitley the best type of video you make
Mosin on the wall… love it
watching the owner handle those fire extinguishers was concerning lol, drop those and don't get out of the room fast enough and they'll suck the air out of your lungs. that's how they put out fires, they suffocate them. basically suck all of the oxygen out of the air in any given room
I was searching the comment section for this, that is why you don't see them. Most people have got rid of them
Brick and Mortar has become so expensive. All the card and game shops around me have been shutting down except for 1 gamestop.
I hope he can pay himself eventually.
Edit: I love these interviews. It shows the hard reality of owning a business like this. Would love to see you shouting out their socials, website if they have one. I want to see these shops survive just like you do, and visibility is massive.
I've been to this store a few times and bought some switch games from him. Super nice guy. Recommend if you're in the Frankfort area
I would -love- to have a store like this by me. I would absolutely be a regular.
LET THE MAN TALK!!!!
Really cool content!
I love these videos!
Monkey punch repairs in my hometown hazard ky would be a cool place for u to visit. They have a large selection of games
these types of videos are refreshing
Love these kinda vids
Keep this style of video coming.
New subscriber here!! Awesome video. But it would be nice if you add the name of the business on the video description!
16:31 He actually just says $3,020.05 as the total and the numbers on the screen say $3,320.05
