what a beautiful place and really lovely recording of this shrike in the sun. Here we have only clouds, rain with snow and strong wind.... I have not seen sun for a long time :)
It seems you were quite close to this bird...wonderful close-ups. It is really great as this species is rather skittish.
We can even hear its voice despite of waves. I have never hear this shrike's voice in nature.

Hello dear Anita- yesterday, when I put the scenes together, I was beautifully reminded of the sunny island of Fuerteventura. In the 17 days I`m back I`ve seen the sun at most for a couple of hours- here in Berlin is the same weather you describe, minus the snow. You`re right, I saw the Shrike for two weeks each morning and it got really used to me- in the end I came as close as three to four meters.
Here in Western Europe I've never seen it any closer than 20 to 40 meters. Thank you so very much for your kind comment and the good wishes. Happy Holidays and a lucky and heathy 2024 to you!🤗

Thank you very much. I`m very happy you like it. At home in Germany I`ve only seen two birds of these over many years, and these from great distances, one even in poor light conditions. In my three weeks on Fuerteventura I`ve seen two different birds of these, both from very close. This one I saw almost every morning at the same spot, thanks to a little brackish trickle with many dragonflies and other insects -and I heard frogs, too.
Sounds like a memorable holiday. Quite a change from Berlin😎@@martachtman1285

Vielen Dank Razorbill. Dies war ebenfalls erst meine Dristte Sichtung und die erste aus dieser Nähe. Dafür traf ich ihn dann drei Wochen lang jeden Morgen, genau wie einen Seidenreiher und einen Uferlläufer o.ä. Es war ohr Revier, Dank eines Brackwasser Rinsals waren dort relativ viele Pflanzen, Libellen, sogar Frösche oder Kröten habe ich gehört.

Hello Gijs! Thank you so much for your great and encouraging comment. I have seen two over the years, as well in wintertime on the countryside close to Berlin, but only from great distances, while I`ve seen here two from close up (2m-4m) within only three weeks. From the very close one I wasn`t able to make a proper photo, though. It was in a bush and I only had a smartphone. Still a nice sighting :-) Have a good new year and many greetings, Mart.
