    Do you speak Thai or English when you are in Thailand?

      The problem is that a lot of Thai people don't want to speak Thai to me.
      I try to speak Thai and get an answer in English, even if I say that, as a German, I don't speak English very well!

    Hi Pear, I always think that you're good at working together with your partner however it's not the case you're even more efficient with the Thai explanations next time when I visit Thailand I will have more confidence to speak Thai with the locals thank you for you video update.

    If you don't want พิเศษ just tell the person ธรรมดา. I usually use เพิ่ม if I want some more of something, for example เพิ่มเฟรนช์ฟรายส์ได้ไหมครับ. Thai steak restaurants have a tendency to only give you 5 or 6 French fries with your meal. When I asked why they did this, I was told they regard French fries simply as a decorative garnish, and not something to actually be eaten. I you want a proper Western style 'portion' of French fries you need to make a special request.

    I am confused about the pronunciation of the word meaning “less“. In the Thai language version of the word, it shows falling tone should be used. But in the English transliteration, you indicate high tone should be used. And when you speak the word orally, it doesn’t seem to be either of those tones. So which is the correct tone to use for the “noi”, meaning “less” of something?

    • @vickocambodia8349
      @vickocambodia8349 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a high tone. Nothing indicates a low tone in the Thai script. You have to work out the tone from the class of consonant used in the Thai spelling. Can anyone confirm that I am right?

    How do you just say “and”? When ordering more than one thing I struggle to link things in sentences. I know how to say “with” but not “and”.

    Nit noi spicy always gets me crazy spicy, it's not even normal spicy. I don't want it to taste like white bread but neither do I want it to be like a chili farm. I always get the latter.

    • @LearnToReadThai
      @LearnToReadThai 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is that everything is relative and what may be slightly spicy for a Thai may be extremely spicy for a ฝรั่ง. My daughter likes ผัดกระเพราไก่ but doesn't like it too spicy. When we order it for her we specify that we only want one chili - ใส่พริกหนึ่งเม็ด. This seems to work better than requesting ไม่เผ็ดครับ or เผ็ดนิดหน่อยครับ. Absolute terms work better than relative terms.

    • @roofpizza1250
      @roofpizza1250 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LearnToReadThai Yeah tho it's spicier than normal, that I'm sure as often I dont say anything and it's more moderate. It just seems like normal spicy plus more,
