Post-Fire Forest Regeneration - Sub-Boreal Spruce BEC Zone

In summer 2017, lightning ignited 8 fires within the University of British Columbia's Alex Fraser Research Forest. One of these fires burned 800 ha near Gavin Lake. Stefanie Ewen, RPF, the Manager of Alex Fraser Research Forest explains the effects of the fire and the status of post-fire forest regeneration.
