Thanks, very helpful to see this. I missed this last year because of the crash, am looking forward to doing it this year. :)

Thanks. I've spoken to a couple of people who've done it and both said that the worst element, or at least what may it very difficult to ride, was the people walking on both sides of the road, and that generally speaking it was very crowded. I am expecting to use my bell! :)

How are you managing to get the stats on the screen ?

I remember struggling to keep a decent cadence up the final section while in a 34/28 ratio (lowest gear) and only just making it over. I also remember refusing to get out of the saddle because I thought I would end up in the awkward too easy in this gear but too hard in the next gear gap.

My record up this is just over 5 mins at 16kph...still had to use my 34 24 though.

@@Bluesman2509 leith hill is 2km long. My time was 9 minutes and that was still a 13.3kph average.

Did this 100 for the first time (2019) and decided before the start that there was to be ‘no walking and no stopping’ on the ride, save for two water refills and unforeseen accidents / mechanical problems - I almost completely lost my rag on Leith Hill when those who’d decided to walk it were talking up TWO-THIRDS of the width of the road and making absolutely no effort at all to keep left, enjoying a chat and a stroll as if they were out walking the dog.
Ended up making a loud, blunt comment and it had the desired effect - job done!
End of the day, if they were walking, they weren’t going to be able to catch me to express their displeasure, were they?! Strokers. 😂

You did very well to make it through this ride with just 2 stops. I needed 6 during the 46, most of which were in miles 20-34 and all were to stop for water and the odd snack.

some people dont know how to eat enough carbs though so they lack the power to push the pedals up a hill...

Some of the worst examples of the wrong choice of gearing. 34x32 or easier looking at the state of some of those riders/cadences. If you can ride 100 miles km but have to get off and push you have made the wrong gear choice.

some people just want to learn the hard way in life lol

It is quite difficult to get a bike with 34x32 and many riders never consider replacing their rear cassette

to be honest another problem is pacing in the whole ride. They could have already done too many efforts on this ride
