The policies still apply without the brokers right? You said it can register the device but mam-we doesnt want the device as extra registered.
Also, if the user already has the app, eg outlook, they need to remove and re-add the account for it to get the mam-we policies?

The broker is required but will prompt the user to install.
If they already have the app, the policy will only apply to the corporate account.

What's app would need to be supported by the MS app protection SDK

Not Supported by MS. WhatsApp doesn't have an SDK with MS.

After configuring the App Protection Policy, I noticed that apps like Outlook aren't accepting the user account without setting up the device in the Company Portal. Could you clarify if there’s a requirement for additional policies at the Microsoft Entra level to enable seamless access?
Additionally, I would appreciate some insights into the necessity of broker apps when an App Protection Policy is applied directly to the app. I’ve followed all the steps from your instructional video to configure the policy, but I may have missed something crucial.
Please note that I am trying to avoid enrolling my device in the Company Portal.
    Thank you for your guidance.

The app is required as a broker, but it is not enrolling devices. It is just registering them.

@@getrubix Thank you for quick response.
I understood the app registration part. Help me to understand where I went wrong due to which I'm forced to enroll my mobo device while adding my company account to the Outlook app.
Am I missing something like App configuration setup for outlook?
      Please help me

What if a user did log in to the company portal. Does the MAM connection still works?

Is it essential to have a conditional access policy along with 'APP'? Or is it advisable?

I mean let's say someone now downloads Excel, sign in, open a file from one drive and copy the data to Gmail. Possible right?

Always advisable to have CA as well. But they should not be able to download if it is blocked in the APP
