- #CARPENTERBRUT #HELLFEST

So happy this concert exists on the internet. Never take it down!
you have a year iirc, after that the copy right agreement expires and they have to take it down.

@@TheHellRanger someone save it quick
@@TheHellRanger you beat me to it. Just download and save a copy.
I downloaded the .wav in case anything happens to it so I can listen to it forever and ever and ever
Big respect to him for actually playing the synthesizers live. Real skill there. Plus getting the sequence of presets memorized too.
I mean, yeah, true, but tbf he probably has just set up his preset list in the right order or even has programmed the right sequence of presets through midi, since they are playing to a backing and click track. :D
@@keinname1896 you can literally see him playing Monday Hunt on the synth
@@twardy9548 Yeah, not the point when talking about memorizing presets
Carpenter Brut & Pertubator taking it to the next level. Greatness.
My favorite two artists working today.
Also Irving Force
Perturbator is going slightly too soft for my taste. Last time I saw them live was disappointed. Went in for hard-hitting sound, but got too much of a The Cure vibe.
Also Dance with the dead
@@426baron Well, he has changed up radically from the violence and heaviness of Uncanny Valley and New Model but if you look at the Excess cover with Health and his work with Cult of Luna, that's SEVERELY heavy. I'm super curious where he takes it from here.
I never knew I wanted to be in a synthwave metal band until now
You and me both. This live performance is better than the recorded albums which is phenomonal.
@@PowerJugs This is dance music, always better enjoyed with massive live bass drums.
I haven't listened to synthwave in a long while but holy shit, hearing it again combined with metal is absolute eargasm
if you like this, also give dance with the dead a try, they're more guitar oriented. no vocals tho, but but more metal IMO.
Dude - Ever since I listened to Carpenter Brut for the first time I've been dying to get into a band like this!

Merci, génial!!
1:12:40 Carpenter Brut is such a cool guy, he moves his own gear out of the way so that the guitarist can get a better spotlight. Seems like a great guy to be in a band with.
Literally the gigachad of keyboardists.
YOOO, I didn't noticed that
Always cool when band members do this for the other artists
I've read somewhere, I can't remember where, that he's generally a really awesome guy to work with in any context, be it musical or administrative.
He also seems to hype up all the singers for the crowd when they come on stage. And during disco zombi italia he even had the spotlight on the drummer.
Carpenter Brut needs to do an entire album with Greg Puciato.
Fuck yeah!!!
Greg needs to be the vocalist for every band. I wouldn't mind. HAHAHA.
I had to google the name and I realized it's the guy from Dillinger escape plan. Holy crap. I didn't recognize him AT ALL.
The Trent Reznor vibes are so strong on Imaginary Fire
The Carpenter Queen
Drummer is the man. Great example of how on point drumming holds the sound together. Not a beat missed. Chapeau.
well, tbh (from a drummer's perspective) his part is only to stay on the fabricated beat. nothing impressive there, as he is not audible at all and hence he doesn't care to add any fills or specials to/above the guide track (check his hihat play in the 16th parts, for instance at Turbo Killer. it is tiring to play like that for 1h20, so he plays 8th in regular parts) - trust me, playing 1:1 to the tape can make you feel like you are the machine, run by the machine - that you programmed haha XD
@@DustownTV he's playing the hi-hat notes exactly as they were laid down in the original track, note that in the first verse, there are no hats in the first half of that section and 8th notes in the second half, whereas in the second verse it starts with 8th notes and gets up to speed with 16th notes from the second half onward. You can check it as much as you want but it was spot on.
It's not easy to do an ungrateful job of trying to sound like the programmed drums as much possible, because it seems like it is neither rewarding (can fool some to be mistaken for tape like mötley crüe lol) nor convenient (consistent 16th notes on hats for this long is a pain in the ass) but there was no backing track here, like it's beyond dispute.
I'm not saying he's playing 100% of the notes from the record, but he's serving and supporting the song, no need to add cocky fills and stand out of the mix unreasonably, and he is still able to play it in his style while also adding some fine details here and there which have added value to the songs.
Seem them live in 2022, he was making an excellent job.
I don't put into question how good he does it, But there are at least some backing tracks for the drums. Check 18:00 he is hitting the Crash while the backing track plays the toms.@
I noticed his drum rolls didn't match up or even missed. I think it was prerecorded audio for the whole thing.
Session drummer here. He is covering a pre recorded track with triggers on his own instruments, post-edited. Still a great drummer. Most performances of the electronic genre do this. It's kind of like auto tuning your own voice live, but for drums - you still play the drums they're just not all you.
There aren't many artists that can get a huge crowd of metalheads excited about Maniac - but I'm so glad Carpenter Brut did. Legend.
the song itself is loved by any group of music lovers. generally ofcourse
And Carnival in Coal did it before, and they did it fucking great too!
Reminds me of Nine Inch Nails if they were heavier.
Considering the covers of Firewind, Avantasia and lately Omnium Gatherum , I think Maniac has always been somehow a metal song!!
dude, Maniac is one of the most classic songs ever, a lot of metalheads will listening to that song wtf are you talking about?
It's amazing seeing Gunship on vocals. It's so rare to see actual vocal performances in synthwave on stage.
I am disappointed by his performance, very little breath and sings out of tune. Fortunately on the chorus there is a back vocal
As far as I’m aware it was his first time performing vocals live so I’d imagine there’s a bit of nerves there. I thought it was great (as was Greg)
@@ducko1988 Greg was impressive but yeah you made a point about the first concert for Alex Westaway.
@@guillaumemartins7362 most likely because he's a bit too back in the mix so can't sing without half-yelling... which unfortunately makes him sound like he's out of breath for his singing style. You can hear it in the Beware the Beast as well.
Timestamp for Gunship please.
Damn, Greg killed it on Imaginary Fire!
Unbelievable. He sings live so wonderfully
Dude really went out and gave it his all, brilliant.
Gunship + Carpenter = Turbo synth rock
This was just a random video that i clicked
The best random moment ever
I first heard of this guy from the soundtrack to Furi (PS4 game). Since then I've always wanted to go see him live but his shows were always on during the week..
This is incredible! They brought every single original singer for the songs to perform live!
Really hope Carpenter Brut releases this concert on vinyl in the future
Merci ARTE concert. Merci Carpenter Brut!
It's not a band, it's one guy

Manca Garm
right! I was like holy sh** Greg P showed up for Imaginary Fire
This is the closest we're ever going to get to a live performance from Gunship.
As a guy who lives in a country where synthwave is barely popular this is a great gift!. It's a good time to be a Carpenter Brut fan.
Sin duda el mejor momento para ser fan de Carpenter Brut!
Hell yeahhh!!!!
I do live in France, which I remind is Brut's nationality, but it's not as exposed at it seems. I'm glad he succeeded onto the darksynth genre. We need more of that fire!!
As someone who lives in the hick wastelands of country music I feel your pain.
@@crosswegan1543 I'm surprised it isn't more popular there, seeing how the 3 most influential current synth acts are from there; Brut, Perturbator, and Dan Terminus.
Carpenter Brut knows how to put on a show and that’s why I love him.

Long Life to CARPENTER BRUT ! Greetings from Buenos Aires - Argentina!
I was there!! one of the best concerts I've seen in my 40 years of life!
Do not hesitate one second to go see him performing alongside Perturbator in this year's second half !
So true, it was incredible, people were so in fire !
i've never seen a carpenter brut live before and i'm really impressed, it all sound fucking huge
He’s fucking incredible live, if he ever tours near you it’s well worth going.
yeah huge sound - from tape. nothing live, here besides the vocals, which also have backing tracks beside them..
There is a live recording of his on spotify, and a also a youtube video of it.

without a doubt, the best version of maniac i've heard - persha's accompaniment to yann's belting lines is so good. the energy, damn.
Alex from Gunship really adds to the dynamic on Windowmaker. Somehow he gives me Martin Gore vibes too.
Omfg mais Day Stalker/Night Prowler quel pied !!!
Oui comme sur l’album une tuerie ces deux morceaux ,enfin une tuerie tout le reste aussi 🤘masterpiece !!!!!
This whole thing is perfect…
Ce passage ❤ ça bute
I hope they include the Blood Machines theme in future concerts - such a banger - would be perfect as an opener.
Amazing show! But I do actually miss the horror/gore movie clips that they used in their live shows back in the day.
My goodness, how did he manage to tour with so many guest singers? At first I thought, oh live vocals, that's cool, surely one guest singer will sing all the vocal tracks, but no, all sung by the original artists! It's just unbelievable!
Especially Johannes Andersson my personal favourite.
they're probably all playing that show too
@@lambgoat2421 some of them surely where, some others were at least touring (other) festivals as well and could make a day off for a special show I suppose - almost a 'once in a lifetime'-thing I suppose...
This is a special show I think, not a tour element. I saw them at Graspop and there were no singers (and that festival is the week before this one and its a couple hours drive).
This festival is close to Nantes, which is their home town. So this is a ''home show'' for them, hence why they are on the main stage and probably pulled out all the stops.
Saw them on tour 2 Times. They do not have singer usually it is sample
Carpenter Brut burns as always! ARTE Concert, Thank you for posting this. It's just fucking awesome!!
Man, I've watched this like 6 times now. Jesus ball-busting Christ what an insane set.

All hail Carpenter Brut. I need to attend a Brut concert one day
And it's cool taking Synthwave that you create on your own in the studio incorporating musicians with the live performances, especially bringing in the guest singers. This is how you do it!
Stunning performance and insane talent. Surprised there aren't more comments about the drummer - they are incredible.
Florent Marcadet is a beast of a drummer
There is quite some comments about him down there. Just look for it
He didn't miss a single beat, absolutely rock-solid
I was lucky enough to see CB for the first time in Manchester Last year. One of my all time favourite gigs. This Hellfest however was something else!! H o l y c r a p .
