Doug, glad to see you are using a gas tank from something else. That shows how you are saving money and using your thinking process. I think you are doing a good job of rebuilding the car and saving a bunch of money.. I still am impressed with your guts to rebuild it. That takes a lot of planning and foritude. Your seem to be doing a good job, so far. I really liked the way you did the bottom of the tailgate area, it looks very good. I am watching every thing you do to the car, just amazed, I guess. I'll let you get back to it.
Doug, you have a couple of characters there as helpers in the shop! The car is looking great. That passenger side looks fantastic, and I still can't get over how nice that rear tailgate opening looks. You literally made it all from basically nothing and it looks factory. Great work! If you don't already, make sure to check out Mike over at "Junks Automotive".
Another great video. Fender looks great, that’s a large area to get flat. Truly understand the comment about under the side trim…..you will always know what’s underneath it……could result in many hours of lost sleep!!! 😂😂🇨🇦
Hey it good to see you coming along on the 57 it looking great I see you have your too little buddy help you today that great keep up the great work on the 57
You could drop a couple of bolts down thru the holes in the floor, weld them to the floor, used nuts & washers to fasten the straps Wouldn't have to disturb anything to drop the tank. You may have to stop & love on the boys!. Rock On, Doug!
Looking under the car and then inside of the floor where you have been welding makes you realize how much mig wire and argon gas that you have used. Great fab work going on here Doug. Be a Great Nomad by spring.
Because I know you can, do a captured nut for front to attach strap . Gives you a little wiggle room to start bolt when holding the tank up with your shoulder and a cat in your face
What is a captured nut? Is it pre-welded to the strap or tank? Or loosely attached so you can slip one side in? Like to know cause this is a bit of a learning experience
Doug. It's the winter swap meet in Springfield Mass on the grounds of the Big E. I don't know how far you are from there but people travel to this because it's an indoor show.
Hey Doug, love those cats, and they obviously love you! Can’t believe how good that quarter looks! I hope you took some before pictures! You may forget how bad things looked when you started. Ken
My opinion on the welding a capture nut on the floor for the gas tank straps; use a carriage bolt and point down to ground. Tack weld the top of the carriage bolt to the top of floor. Then the strap can be installed with some variance of adjustability. Starting a nut on the carriage bolt is easier than starting a bolt that goes though the sheet metal caged nut. Possibility having bolt protrude into the compartment and mess with the plywood your putting down.....
That makes sense but unfortunately as you'll see in the next video,I welded the nut and washer to the floor. That said,I could run a bolt from the top side down and weld it to the nut if that ends up being better. Thanks!
Hi Doug,The car is looking really great, keep up the good work.I would like to buy a t shirt if you do decide to make them, extra large.Bill in California, take care.
Hey Doug looks like you’re making great progress. I’m not a T-shirt guy but if you had hats I’d be interested for sure. I am really impressed how far you’ve come in just these few months I’ve been watching. Just thinking back to your first video you’ve come a mighty long ways! I’m glad we’ve met here on TH-cam and if I’m ever in your area I’d love to see this in real life. I’ve never been out of the Midwest though so the chances are slim I’ll ever see it. I’ll keep on following on the web and once again thanks for taking us all along for the ride!!
Hi Doug. I’m Bobb from the great white north. I want one of your shirts in a large. You should also put your best helper, White Toes on the shirt too, lol!
I’m exited about the progress Doug. The ford tank will work out nicely. The route you laid out for the straps will look like a factory install. Looks like the top is in pretty good shape. I know it’s a little early for paint colors but I was thinking how nice the body would look black with some flake in it. And the top a turquoise with some pearl and metal flake. Oh well just a thought lol. Keep up the great work. Til next time.
That quarter looks great! I'm going through my parts now to see what I need to pick up at Springfield's swap meet show this coming weekend. Maybe you might go, and I'll have to tough base with you if you go.
Put Eric down for one size small shirt. I will be following you through your entire build. I have also noticed that DD Speed Shop has finally started fabbing some of his own body patches again, after a long pause. Has he been watching your channel and been inspired?
What do you play, guitar, bass , drums and or vocals?, With your band?. I have a few guitars and it took me to get old to finally get the rhythm and I wish I could have been as good as I am now, back when I was young in the late seventies and eighties. Always wanted to be in music, but retired as a longshoreman. Thank God for unions
Instead of welding a blind nut in the trunk, could you weld a bolt coming from in the trunk down? That way you wouldn’t have a bolt protruding up into the trunk. Second, I’ll take a shirt, XL.

That's a great story Willie! The addiction we have to cars is as strong as any addiction to drugs or booze. It may break us financially but it's not as bad to our health.Keep wrenching my friend,it keeps you young (I'll be 61 this year)!
Thanks Steven! Believe it or not,I have a 20 year old digital camera that I film with and I stick the memory card in my tower and load the files on to Windows Movie Maker.Old man tech LOL
You could cut down the price by just getting iron on transfer logos made and they could be sent in envelopes and the people could put them on their own shirts, hoodies etc. just a thought. You would have to include instructions
T- shirts are 50 minimum at any concert, and low quality at that. My daughter took me to see the Gorillaz and bought each of us a shirt for 50 bucks each. Very thin material. It used to be, a concert was about 5 bucks and the tour was promoted to make us buy the latest record. Now the only money that they make is the price of the concert and the merchandise 😂
It ain't like the good old days Peary. That's why I set the price as low as I could.50 bucks is way too much for a t shirt of any quality.I thought 35 was way too much.Hopefully they will be good quality...
100%. Maybe I'm old but I used to buy nice soft cotton concert t shirts, now they seem to be the roughest, cheapest quality they can find and charge you double or triple what they should be.
I'm rewatching cause I can't pay attention while typing on this fake typewriter that Evil big brother made into a permanent part of my hand . Our beloved cat Pluti passed away yesterday he showed up at our neighbors door as a kitten and moved to our house when our neighbors retired to Vancouver Island 2 or 3 years ago and my wife and daughter are devastated. Looks like a kitten could be a future possibility, but not right away. Everytime I trip over one of my wife's slippers, I still think it might be the cat. Take care

I may do like DD Speed Shop and Cold War motors do and set up a PO box.I just can't wrap my head around the fact that a nobody like me would need one.I am a very small fish in a very big pond.It sounds like something big fish have to do.On another note, you would love some of the Beatles things I have collected over the past 50 years!
Send me an address to this address, so I can send you a couple of things. If you aren't comfortable doing that, you should get a post office box address
Instead of welding a nut for the gas tank strap, drop a bolt with a washer through the hole and weld it from the top. I am interested in a shirt, XL. Thanks

I too live in Canada 🇨🇦 and want a tee large please…the car is transforming before our eyes 👀 great work Doug
The bits are getting bigger and looking good. I'm gonna pass on the tee-shirt, I'm too big that for the regular sizes they typically offer.
That's okay,I just appreciate the fact that you're enjoying the channel!
I XL shirt
Thanks John! That's 14
Sad but true...
Steve Duce large

I'm rewatching cause I can't pay attention while typing on this fake typewriter that Evil big brother made into a permanent part of my hand . Our beloved cat Pluti passed away yesterday he showed up at our neighbors door as a kitten and moved to our house when our neighbors retired to Vancouver Island 2 or 3 years ago and my wife and daughter are devastated. Looks like a kitten could be a future possibility, but not right away. Everytime I trip over one of my wife's slippers, I still think it might be the cat. Take care
I'm sorry to hear about your kitty.Hopefully he didn't suffer. We had a cat that lived to be 19.It was hard to see her go.Take care
B- 632 Godwin Court Coquitlam BC V3K 5V8 Canada. I'm ok with people having my address, if they want to send me Beatles and Batman items. Nobody writes letters anymore, so nowadays pen pals are subscribers . I make my own T shirt's and other junk
Please order me 1 XXL T Shrit. T Y.
put me down for a t-shirt please!
Thanks Robert! That's 19
Send me an address to this address, so I can send you a couple of things. If you aren't comfortable doing that, you should get a post office box address
I would probably buy a shirt IF it's NOT made in china. Do you want to weld a bolt through the floor instead of a nut?
Instead of welding a nut for the gas tank strap, drop a bolt with a washer through the hole and weld it from the top. I am interested in a shirt, XL. Thanks
