I have blight in my legumes at the moment (different fungal infection to the one that effects night shades). I usually treat with a liquid copper spray, but it's winter here and we are getting showers every day, so i haven't had any opportunity to apply it. Blight is such a pain ! 😡

Great video! If your plants have blight, you get rid of the foliage, but can you reuse the soil?

Blight is very challeging, but don't under estimate the carnage it can produce. The current weather we are experiencing in Ireland & the UK is a real magnet for blight, humid, warm & wet conditions. Years ago we would have sprayed our potatoes with a copper based solution. Because they are a main crop here, sometimes it is difficult to stick with organic methods when faced with a possible wipe out of your crop. Where blight is concerned, prevention is the only approach, because once the infection is in just 1 leaf it will go through everything like a bunch of locusts. We watch the forecast closely, & always in advance, of course it isn't always accurate but we get an idea & the minute we see the 1st mention of humid the boys start to spray, after the 1st application it is then a weekly ritual. I plant a few varieties in containers, tyres tbh at the house, but we have just under an acre, of Kerrs pinks & queens set at millies. We try to stay organic, but, with the current weather I do not think that is going to be possible. Bayer garden produce a product Potato Blight Control, whilst the ingredients may not be ideal it is successful in preventing blight if you spray on time.

Totally agree. If just noticed a few spots on some of my leaves on the kerrs pinks. Weather in Ireland has just been crap.
I've removed infected leaves and dumped them but will have to consider some sprays. Was hoping to stick to organic for home growing but every years the same.

Roses get a fungal disease called black spot which looks very similar to forms of blight of other types of plants. However the fungal infection on roses is specific to roses, so it won't spread to other types of plants. I'm not sure of the availability of fungicides where you are, but look for a product called Rose black spot spray or similar to treat your roses. 😊

hardwood ash and water to make a lye is the best treatment . just don't make it to strong and your plant roots will love it

Not sure on the gnats but it will deter snails as sand will dry them out
As for the paper either snails or mice
      Thank you Roger
